Oneal J.T. Archer
Oneal J.T. Archer, 94, former director of Miami's physical plant, died of cancer Saturday, Feb. 13 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Archer was named Miami's first physical plant director in 1966, a position he held until his retirement in 1978.

Archer was buried in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, with honor guard, Wednesday, Feb. 17.

Memorials can be made to the Miami University Fund, c/o Murstein Alumni Center. Mark gifts "In memory of Oneal Archer."

Dorothy L. Lamb
Dorothy L. Lamb, 88, of Oxford, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999 at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital. She was born April 12, 1910 in Oxford.

She was a graduate of McGuffey High School with the class of 1928. A life-long Oxford resident, she worked for several retail stores.

A memorial service was held Sunday at the Smith and Ogle Funeral Home of Oxford.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital.

Walter N. Suit, Jr.
Walter N. Suit, Jr., 72, of Oxford, died at home Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999. Suit was born in Cincinnati and grew up in Cleves. On June 12, 1947, he married Violet Smith and in 1967 he moved his family to Oxford.

A memorial service was held Tuesday at the Oxford Presbyterian Church, where the family received friends in the Molyneaux Lounge immediately afterward.

Arrangements were handled by the Smith and Ogle Funeral Home of Oxford.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Oxford Presbyterian Church, specified for the restoration of the stained glass windows.

Helen Jean Cox
Helen Jean Cox, 85, of Oxford, formerly of Morton, Ill., died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999 at the Westover Retirement Center in Hamilton. She was born in Hinckley, Ill. on Sept. 24, 1913.

She received her nursing R.N. in Aurora, Ill., and continued to be involved in her nursing throughout most of her life.

Visitation is being held Thursday, Feb. 18, 11 a.m. to noon, at the Morton Community Church of Christ, followed by noon funeral services. Burial was in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alheimer Foundation or to The Colonial Foundation, 1501 Millville Ave., Ham ilton, Ohio 45013-9984. Smith and Ogle Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.

Earl Martin
Earl Martin, 72, of Liberty, Ind., died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999 at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Connersville, Ind. He was born Aug. 12, 1926 in Clay County, Ky.

He married the former Ruth Sizemore on May 5, 1963 in Connersville, Ind. He had lived in the Union County area for 50 years and before that in Kentucky.

Funeral services were conducted at the Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Ind. Thursday, Feb. 18. Burial followed in West Point Cemetery, Liberty, Ind. with military graveside rites by the American Legion Post and V.F. W. Post from Liberty, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette Memorial Hospital Hospice in his memory.

Ishmel Hisle
Ishmel "Shorty" Hisle, 80, of Liberty, Ind., died Friday, Feb. 12 at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Connersville, Ind. He was born June 30, 1918 in Jackson County, Ky.

He had lived in the Union County area for 58 years and before that he resided in Kentucky. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Estill County, Ky. He farmed in Union County for over 30 years. He worked for Mathews Car Center and NAPA, Liberty, Ind. He was recently employed as a greeter at the Wal-Mart in Oxford, Ohio.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Ind. Burial followed in Richland Cemetery, Union County, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donorÍs choice in Mr. HisleÍs memory.

F. Marie Dees Welch
F. Marie Dees Welch, 87, of Liberty, Ind., died Friday, Feb. 12 at Hillcrest Estates Nursing Home, Liberty, Ind. She was born Feb. 26, 1911 in Wayne County, Ind.

She was a member of the Salem Friends Meeting, Union County, Ind. She had lived most of her life in Union County, Ind. She was a cook at the Liberty Restaurant and at Park Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty, Ind. Nancy Nelson, minister at the Salem Friends Meeting, Union County, Ind., officiated. Burial followed in the West Point Cemetery, Liberty, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Friends Meeting in her memory.

Hazel M. Hartman
Hazel M. Hartman, 78, of Camden, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999 at Oxford View Nursing Home in Oxford. She was born Aug. 9, 1920 in Preble County, Ohio, the daughter of Sherman and Bertha Heckman.

She married Lewis Hartman on May 18, 1947 in Covington, Ky. She retired from Baxter Glove in Eaton, Ohio, after working there 16 years.

Services were held Monday, Feb. 15 at the R.C. Nein and Sons-Thompson Funeral Home in Camden, with the Rev. Fred Hill officiating. Burial followed in the Fairmount Cemetery.
 

Irene A. Miertl
Irene A. Miertl, 85, of Oxford, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, in Oxford, after a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 5, 1913. She lived in Oxford the past three years. Prior to that she lived in Spring Hill, Fla. for 25 years. She was a member of the Oxford Senior Citizens organization.

Services were held Saturday, Feb. 27 at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home in Eaton. The Rev. Jim Condrey officiated. Burial was in Spring Hill, Fla. Memorials may be made to the Oxford Senior Citizens, Inc., 922 Tollgate Drive, Oxford, Ohio 45056.

Pearl Stephens Howald
Pearl Stephens Howald died Feb. 24, 1999 at Fairview Manor Nursing Home.

She was born October 14, 1902 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Family moved to Hamilton, Ohio where Pearl met her husband, Howard. Soon after their marriage they moved to Oxford, Ohio where they resided until his death in 1996.

Chapel services were held at Rosehill Cemetery, Hamilton, Ohio, February 27, 1999.

Arrangements were made by the Reeb Funeral Home.

Carol Davis Ramey
Carol Davis Ramey, 55, of 159 S. US 27, Liberty, Ind. died Wednesday evening at Reid Hospital, Richmond, IN. She was born on March 23, 1943 in Kitchel, Ind.

Funeral services were held at the Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, LIberty, Ind. at Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999.

Burial was in West Point Cemetery, Liberty, IN.

Timothy J. Rogers
Timothy J. Rogers, professor of Spanish and Portuguese at Miami University, died at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Tuesday, Feb. 23. He was 67. Rogers, who taught at Miami since 1968, became associate professor in 1977 and professor in 1983. He also served the university as chair of the student publications committee, chief departmental adviser, member of the comparative literature committee, chair of the nominating committee for the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and adviser to women's volleyball club.

A memorial service is scheduled at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 21, at Miami's Sesquicentennial Chapel on Spring Street. A reception immediately follows.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Timothy J. Rogers Memorial Scholarship, in care of Panuska Development Center, Miami University, 725 E. Chestnut St., Oxford, Ohio 45056.

Kenzie P. Fields
Kenzie P. Fields, 78, of Liberty, Ind., died Saturday, Feb. 27 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Fields, who was born July 23, 1920 in Pendleton County, KY, was a lifetime resident of the Union County, Indiana, area. He retired from the Union County Highway Department in 1985.

Funeral services were conducted at the Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel in Liberty, Ind. on Wednesday, March 3, 1999 with the Rev. Dana Hadden, pastor of the Hadden Creek Christian Church officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hanna's Creek Christian Church at the funeral home in his memory.

Bernard McDonough
Bernard "BC" McDonough, 83, of Oxford, died Thursday February 25, 1999 at the Woodland Manor Nursing Home. Born on June 17, 1915, he was born and lived his entire life in the Oxford area.

He was a wholesale candy distributor for many years and then he managed the game room at Miami University until his retirement. He was a life-long member of Saint Mary's Parish in Oxford and until recently an active member of the Oxford Senior Citizens Center.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at Monday March 1, 1999 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church.

Smith & Ogle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Oxford Senior Citizens Center in his name.

Catharine Patterson Crary, 93, of Oxford, died Wednesday February 24, 1999 at the Oxford View Nursing Home. He was born October 29, 1905 in Spokane Washington.

In 1931, she married Errol C. Crary. The Smith and Ogle Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Gary D. Sams, 57, 5201 College Corner Pike, Oxford, died Monday morning, March 1, 1999, in the emergency room at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was born Feb. 14, 1942. He graduated from Ross High School, Ross, Ohio. He was a lifetime resident of the Oxford area. He was presently employed as a factory worker at Square D in Oxford, where he had worked for 15 years.

Services are being conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, March 4, at the Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner, Ohio. Burial will follow in Reily Cemetery, Reily.

Susan Jane Utter Jordan
Susan Jane Utter Jordan, 53, of Barstow, Calif., formerly of Liberty, Ind., died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999 at her residence in Barstow. She was born July 24, 1945 in Richmond, Ind.

She graduated from Short High School, Liberty, Ind. She attended Miami University, Oxford, where she received her BA in psychology. For the past 12 years she was a middle school teacher, teaching math and English, in the Silver Valley School District near Barstow, Calif.

Funeral services were held at the Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Ind.

Burial followed in the Elkhorn Cemetery, Wayne County, Ind.

David J. Ross, 83, 215 W. High Street, Liberty, Ind. died Monday evening at Hillcrest Estates Nursing Home in Liberty. He was born on July 26, 1915.

He has lived in Liberty for the past 58 years. He owned and operated the Liberty Restaurant from 1939 until 1974 when he retired. He had seved as a LIberty Town Councilman for 12 years.

Funeral Services were held at Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, BakerFosdick Chapel, Liberty, Ind. March 4, 1999 with the Rev. Fred Cox, pastor of the Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church in Liberty. Burial was in Palestine Cemetery in Drake County, OH.
