QUEENSBURY --Virginia G. (Potter) Foote, 41, of 5th Street, in Queensbury,
passed away on Friday, March 30, 2001, after a long illness, at Glens Falls
Born on July 10, 1959, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the
late Victor J. and Grace (Towne) Potter.
She was a member of the 1977 graduating class of Glens Falls High School.
Ginny enjoyed sewing, crafts, baking, Yankee baseball and the family
pets, Buddy, Skippy and Angel.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Valerie
E. Fisher of Fort Edward.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Foote and their daughter, Grace
E. Foote of Queensbury; four brothers, Victor Z. Potter of Hudson Falls,
Vincent J. Potter and his wife, Helen, of Salem, Vance Potter of Queensbury
and Vernon O. Potter and his wife, Grace, of Glens Falls; one sister, Vicki
Potter and her companion, Daryll Roberts, of Hudson Falls; and several
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Carleton Funeral
Home Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., following the calling
hours, for family and friends at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Marino,
pastor of the Queensbury United Methodist Church, officiating.

Helen Demarest Horan
WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Helen Demarest Horan, 99, formerly of Glens Falls,
died Monday, March 26, 2001, at Winter Park Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 12, 1901, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Samuel
and Bertha (Carpenter) Demarest.
She was a 1920 graduate of Glens Falls High School.
Her husband, Roy Horan died in 1971, and a son, Roy Horan Jr. also
died before her.
Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Lois Horan of Lakewood, Calif.;
one cousin, Mrs John Read of Greenfield, Mass.; one daughter-in-law, Eileen
B. Horan of Portsmouth, R.I.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at
Pine View Cemetery, Queensbury, with the Rev. Henry Frueh, Pastor of Christ
Church United Methodist, officiating.
Instead of flowers memorials may be made in a form of donations to
a charity of one's choice.

Kathy Lynn French
SEVERN, Md. -- Kathy Lynn French, 42, of Severn, Md., died Tuesday,
March 27, 2001, at 9 a.m. at Glen Burnie, Md., after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 26, 1959, in San Diego, she was the daughter of Richard Schaefer
and Joanne (Leichtman) Schaefer.
She married Gary French on Dec. 19, 1978, at Greater Glens Falls Bible
Baptist Church in Hudson Falls.
Kathy was a member of Anchor Baptist Church in Severn, Md.
She was a homemaker.
Kathy enjoyed modern dance, singing in the choir, crafts and cooking.
Survivors include her parents Richard and Joanne Schaefer of South
Glens Falls; her husband of 22 years, Gary French of Severn, Md.; a daughter,
Kathleen Ann French of Severn, Md.; two brothers, Mark Schaefer of Florida
and Saul Schaefer of New York City; and two sisters, Irene Hogan of South
Glens Falls and Karen Schaefer of Maryland.
Funeral services were conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at Anchor
Baptist Church, Severn, Md., with the Rev. Andy Counterman, officiating.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Arthur 'Tink' R. Williams
Lake Luzerne -- Arthur "Tink" R. Williams, 82, of 1790 Call St., died
suddenly, Friday, March 30, 2001, at his home.
Born on April 16, 1918, in Corinth, he was the son of Robert A. and
Margaret (King) Williams.
He was a graduate of Corinth High School. He entered the U.S. Navy
on April 4, 1944, during World War II as seaman first class serving many
months in Saipan, where he earned the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, the
Victory Ribbon, Honorable Service button, World War II Victory Medal and
the American Theater Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 14, 1946.
He married Geraldine Powell on April 5, 1947, in Corinth.
Tink was employed at International Paper Co., Corinth, for over 43
years as headloader and later as foreman in the finishing room until his
retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of the
He was an active member of the Corinth Wesleyan Church, where he served
on the board of trustees and taught Sunday school for many years. He enjoyed
making the coffee for the members of the church following Sunday services.
Tink was a member of AARP, the National Rifle Association, and a past
member of the Corinth Fire Department
He enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved very much.
He was actively involved in their daily lives. He also enjoyed gardening
and was an avid hunter.
Tink was known for his wonderful sense of humor, he liked to joke and
kid around with all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Jennie Williams; three brothers,
Leroy Williams, Russell Williams and Lawrence "Buck" Williams.
Survivors besides his wife of 54 years include one daughter, Carolyn
McCoy and her husband Robert of Aiken, S.C.; five sons, David A. Williams
and his wife Martha of Corinth, Phillip Williams and his wife Wilma of
Corinth, James M. Williams and his wife Donna of Cape Coral, Fla., Kevin
J. Williams and his wife Joan of Corinth and Jeffrey L. Williams of South
Glens Falls; two sisters, Marguerite Lillibridge and her husband Bernard
of Corinth, Sarah B. Wilde of Saratoga Springs; a sister-in-law, Violet
Williams of Milford, Conn.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday at the Corinth Wesleyan
Church, 292 River St., Corinth, with the Rev. Benjamin Booth Jr., pastor,
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brewer Funeral
Home Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.
Burial will take place later this spring at Corinth Rural Cemetery,

Violet V. Brooks
FORT EDWARD -- Violet V. Brooks, 77, passed away on Thursday, March
29, 2001, at Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness.
Born on Sept. 17, 1923, in Whitehall, she was one of four daughters
of the late John and Eva (Neddo) Lunt.
Mrs. Brooks lived most of her adult life in Fort Edward with her husband
of "50" years, and two sons.
She worked for General Electric Co. for 35 years as a quality control
specialist. She loved to socialize with her fellow workers and enjoyed
spending quality time with her close friends.
Mrs. Brooks was predeceased by her husband, Patsy D. Brooks, who passed
away in 1993, and her brother-in-law, Richard "Deak" Aiken.
Survivors include her two sons, Pat Brooks of Warrensburg and John
Brooks and his wife, Theresa of South Glens Falls; three grandchildren,
Jody Brooks and Michael Brooks of South Glens Falls and Anthony Brooks
of Syracuse; three sisters, Mrs. Lily Aiken of Whitehall, Mrs. Marion Dewey
and her husband, Leo, also of Whitehall and Mrs. Patricia Mahar and her
husband, John "Don" Mahar of Queensbury; and several several nieces and
nephews. She loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews very much.
A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at Jillson
Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall, with the Rev. Wayne Browers,
rector of the Zion Church of Hudson Falls, officiating.
The Right of Committal will be later in the spring at Our Lady of Angels
Cemetery in Whitehall.
Friends may call from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home prior
to the service.
Following the service, there will be a reception held at the American
Legion, Post No. 83, Main Street, Whitehall.

Evelyn C. Chattin
QUEENSBURY -- Evelyn C. Chattin, 83, passed away Thursday, March 29,
2001, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on March 30, 1917, in Barnet, Vt., she was the daughter of the
late John E. and Ethel Marcia (Woodward) Churchill.
Evelyn was a medical secretary for Doctor Angel in Randolph, Vt. After
raising her two children she returned to work as a hairdresser in the Hanover,
She loved to knit and sew and loved traveling with her husband.
Evelyn was a member of congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1934.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by a brother, Willis Churchill
and a grandson, David Martin.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Howard E. Chattin of Queensbury;
one daughter, Joyce Martin and her husband Clyde of St. Albans,Vt.; one
son, Robert E. Chattin and his wife Brenda G. of Queensbury; one granddaughter,
Sara Hart of Queensbury; and two grandsons, Danny Martin of Montana and
Christopher Martin of Windsor, Vt.
Memorial services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, at
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on the Corinth Road, Queensbury with
Allen Monroe, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.

FORT EDWARD -- Marietta Hanna, age 98, of 229 Broadway, died Monday,
April 9, 2001, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home where she has resided for the
past two weeks.
Born on Nov. 24, 1902, in South Granville, she was the daughter of
Royal Nelson and Minnie (Moore) Hanna.
She was a graduate of Middle Granville High School in 1921 and attended
New York State College for Teachers in Albany, receiving a B.S. degree
in 1925 and a Masters degree in 1935.
Marietta was employed as a high school math teacher in Greenport from
1925 until 1929 and at Fort Edward High School from 1929 until her retirement
She was a member of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, Fort Edward Branch
for over 25 years and a member of the Fort Edward Historical Association,
and the New York State Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of
the Middle Granville Presbyterian Church for many years and when she moved
to Fort Edward, attended the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls from
Marietta enjoyed sewing, handicrafts, reading, crossword puzzles and
her many friends and former students.
Two brothers died before her, Everett, as an infant and Ernest Hanna
in 1987. She was also predeceased by one nephew Charles Hanna in 1998.
Survivors include two brothers, C. Raymond Hanna and his wife Harriet
of Sarasota, Fla. and Donald E. Hanna and his wife Elsie of Granville;
two sisters, Luella Gleason of Falmouth Foreside, Maine and Wilma Davidson
and her husband Robert of Fair Hope, Ala.; one sister-in-law, Viola Hanna
of Cape Porpoise, Maine; 12 nieces and nephews; and several great and great-great
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Robert
King Funeral Home, Church St., Granville, with the Rev. Donald Pepper,
Retired Presbyterian Minister, officiating.
Burial will be in the family plot in East Hebron Cemetery, East Hebron,
later this spring.

GREENWICH -- Anna G. Mastrangelo, 63, a former resident of Greenwich,
died Monday, April 9, 2001, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Greenwich, March 1, 1938, she was the daughter of the late
Lewis and Monica (Hoffman) Harrington.
Mrs. Mastrangelo was a retired employee of Mallinkrodt Corp. of Argyle.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Greenwich.
Her husband, John C. Mastrangelo Sr. died Oct. 10, 1993.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Lyon of Glens Falls; two sons,
John Mastrangelo Jr. of Greenwich and Michael Mastrangelo of Vermont; three
sisters, Marie Chadwick of Greenwich, Margaret Sweet of Bennington, Vt.,
and Helen Andrew of Greenwich; one brother, Lewis Harrington of Middle
Falls; five grandchildren, Joshua Lyon, Sarah Lyon, Jeremy Lyon, Michelle
McMurray, and Cassandra Mastrangelo, and several nieces and nephews.

Angeline 'Angie' (Isolda) Cole
SARATOGA SPRINGS -- Angeline "Angie" (Isolda) Cole, 86, a former Saratoga
Springs resident, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Maplewood Manor, Ballston
Born on Jan. 17, 1915, in Saratoga Springs, she was a daughter of the
late Pasquale and Antonetta (Tomasone) Isolda.
She was a 1933 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and received
a certificate in nutritional services from Adirondack Community College
Mrs. Cole had worked for Skidmore College from the 1930's to 1958 and
was also employed by the South Glens Falls Central School district's dietary
department from 1958 until 1968. She retired from the payroll department
at Espey Manufacturing Co.
She was a former Girl Scout troop leader for the Adirondack Girl Scout
council. She also was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of both Dominick
Smaldone Post 35 Italian American War Veterans and American Legion Adirondack
Angie was married on Nov. 29, 1934 to the late Roland B. Cole, who
died in 1966. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Louise DeSarbo,
Mary DeSarbo and Margaret DeLucia; two brothers, Anthony and Dominick Isolda
and one nephew, Bernard DeSarbo.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice Cole Trombley of Gansevoort;
one grandson, Bruce E. Trombley and his wife, Gretchen Marie Trombley and
one great-granddaughter, Jordan Marie Caroline Trombley, all of Queensbury;
and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday
at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga.
The Rite of Committal will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's
Cemetery, West Avenue, Saratoga Springs.
