Bettie D. Sweeney HORNELL | Bettie D. Sweeney, 80, of Karr Valley Road, Almond, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002 at St. James Mercy Hospital. She had worked as a waitress at several area restaurants, including the lunch counter at the former Cards Drug Store and the Texas Cafe. Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Williams of Raleigh, N.C., Kathleen Drake of Almond and Dianne LoVerde of Watertown; a son, Daniel E. Sweeney of Hornell; two brothers, Edward "Mickey" Donahue of Hornell and Floyd T. Donahue Jr. of San Antonio, Texas. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Ann's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Helen I. Swift HORNELL | Helen I. Swift, 78, of Hornell and Pittsford, died Thursday Sept. 12, 2002. She had been a deacon of the United Presbyterian Church, Hornell. Survivors include her husband, Glenn D. Swift of Hornell; two daughters, Dianna Willsey of Pittsford and Cynthia Costa of Retsof. Swift, 82, of Tioga, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital. He had been a house mover and operated his own business in New Jersey also owned and operated Tioga Hunting Preserve. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Rita Fenner Swift; four daughters, Betty Andreason Link, of Lawrenceville, Lillian Brown of Bridgeton, N.Y., Claudia Brown of Charlotte, N.C. and LuAnn Morgan of Lake Wylie, S.C. Eugene Charsky officiating. Doris L. Sykora WELLSBORO, PA. | Doris L. Sykora, 79, of Galeton, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 in the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital. She had been a secretary for Sykora Logging for many years and was a clerk at Martin's Shursave in Galeton. Survivors include three sons, David Sykora of Japan, Ted Sykora of Galeton, and Tim Sykora of Ulysses; two daughters, Lana Bennett and Lucille Whitney, both of Wellsboro.
