July 5, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He owned and operated a farm in Caton.
Survivors include two sisters, Donna Wolfe of Horseheads and 
Thelma Courtright of Lawrenceville, Pa.
Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. Tuesday at Carpenter's Funeral 
Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning.
Services will be held at there at the conclusion of calling 
hours at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.



Kathleen P.  Schanbacher
ERIN | Kathleen "Kitty" Paden Schanbacher, 81, of Marsh Road, 
died Saturday, June 8, 2002.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Merton A. 
Schanbacher; one son, William Schanbacher; one daughter, Val 
Ann Schanbacher.
There will be no calling hours. 
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Scothtown 
Cemetery, the Rev. Donald Roe officiating.

GALETON, Pa. | Violet A. Schaner, 94, of Galeton, formerly of 
Carter Camp, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002. 
She was a nurse.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in 
St. Germain Church, Germania, the Rev. Brian E. Vossler 
officiating. Burial will be in St. Germain Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Collins-Olney Funeral Home.

CANISTEO | Betty J. Schenck, 80, of 24 S. Elm St., died 
Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at home.
She had worked at the former Genung Nursing Home in Canisteo 
and in the cafeteria at Canisteo Central School.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Adams of Canisteo; a son, 
Roy Schenck of Canisteo; a sister, Ruth VanKurin of Corning; a 
brother, Roderick Garrett of Campbell.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Brown and 
Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo.
Services will be held at 
11 a.m. Saturday at the Canisteo Wesleyan Church, the Rev. 
Donald Maynard officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.

BALTIMORE, MD. | Tracey A. Schermerhorn, 44, formerly of Bath, 
N.Y., died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 at home.
Survivors include one brother, Thomas Schermerhorn of 
Campbell, N.Y.; four sisters, Teresa Garrity of Watertown, 
N.Y., Trudy Robertson of Baltimore, Thelma Thomas of Hornell, 
N.Y., and Tonya Woodcock of Campbell, N.Y.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Seamens 
Cemetery, Savona, N.Y.

ITHACA | Frances B. Schoch, 96, formerly of Bath, died 
Thursday, April 25, 2002 at Oak Hill Manor Nursing Home.
Survivors include her son William Schoch of Slaterville 
Springs.

CORNING | Roy Charles Schoonover, 71, of Tioga, Pa., formerly 
of Elkland, Pa., died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 at Corning 
Hospital.
He worked for the Elkland Leather Company and Corning Inc. 
before retiring.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth "Jean" 
Schoonover; a son, Roy Vargeson of Westfield, Pa.; a stepson, 
Gordon Duff of Elkland, Pa.; a brother, William Schoonover of 
Elkland, Pa.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenyon Funeral 
Home Inc., 214 W. Main St., Elkland, Pa., the Rev. Larry 
O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, 
Elkland, Pa.

ELMIRA | Gerald J. Schusler, 84, of Bath, died Saturday May 4, 
2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira.
He was a retired captain with the New York State Police and a 
veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include four sisters, Marion Justic of Elmira, Alice 
Keough of Elmira, Eileen Halm of Elmira, Dorothy Schusler of 
Ithaca.
Calling hours are from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at Fagan's Funeral 
Home.
Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours 
at 3 p.m. Wednesday, the Revs. Marilyn Wood and Edward Howe 
officiating. Burial will be in Nondaga Cemetery, Bath.



Clyde  Schwab
ELMIRA | Clyde Schwab, 93, of Burch Hill Road, Horseheads, 
died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Arnot Odgen Hospital.
He had owned and operated his farm for nearly 64 years.
Survivors include two brothers, Elmer Schwab of Elmira and 
Arthur Schwab in Fair Oaks, Calif.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Van Buskirk-Lynch 
Funeral Home, Mill Street and Grand Central Avenue, 
Horseheads.
Services will be held there at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Lew 
Baker officiating. Burial will be in Scotchtown Cemetery.



Charles J. "Chip" Schwartz 
ELMIRA | Charles J. "Chip" Schwartz, 53, of Painted Post died 
Thursday, March 21, 2002 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Marylou Schwartz of Painted Post; 
a daughter, Carey Hall of Lexington, S.C.; his mother, 
Marjorie Schwartz; three brothers, Tom Schwartz and Michael 
Schwartz, both of Corning, John Schwartz of Horseheads; and 
five sisters, Ginny Phenes of Newark, Ann Jones of Bradford, 
Jeannette Cameron of Fayetteville, N.C., Pat Reynolds of 
Corning, and Michelle Freeze of Punxsutawney, Pa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at

Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at Elcor Health Services.
Survivors include a son, Bert Paul Schwarz of Horseheads.

Gertrude E.  Schweitzer 
MENNO HAVEN CHAMBERSBURG, PA. | Gertrude E. Schweitzer, 89, of 
Menno Haven, formerly of Painted Post, N.Y., and Kissimmee, 
Fla., died Friday, July 26, 2002.
She retired in 1978 as an inventory supervisor with Ingersoll 
Rand Co., Painted Post, N.Y.
Survivors include a son, Charles N. Schweitzer Jr. of 
Fayetteville, Pa.
A memorial service was held at Mennon Haven Chapel, the Rev. 
Samuel J. Troyer, Rev. Ruth E. Smith and Rev. Dr. Neal O. 
Hively officiating. Burial was in Osceola Memory Gardens 
Kissimmee, Fla. Arrange-ments were by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral 
Home Inc., Chambersburg, Pa.

PAINTED POST | Hazel A. Scott, 92, of Corning, died Saturday, 
Feb. 16, 2002, at The Waters of Three Rivers.
Survivors include three daughters, Gertrude Sherwood and 
Dorothy Cleveland, both of Coopers Plains, and Louise Scott of 
Painted Post; four sons, Arthur Scott, Myron Scott, Paul Scott 
and Jack Scott, all of Corning.
Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Phillips 
Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning.
Services will be held there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be 
in Coopers Plains Cemetery.



Kathleen E. Scott 
ROCHESTER | Kathleen E. Scott, 90, of Fairview Place, 
Canisteo, died Friday, March 15, 2002 at Strong Memorial 
Hospital.
She had been a teacher in Prattsburgh and a taught a foreign 
language in Troupsburg Central School District. She and her 
husband Gordon, also operated Scott's Dairy.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Gordon G. Scott; 
two daughters, Diane Miller of Canisteo and Carolyn Cannain of 
Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, Robert Scott of Canisteo and 
William Scott of Frankfort, Ky.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at H.P. Smith & Son, 
Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Canisteo.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family, the 
Rev. Carl Chamberlain officiating. Burial will be in Hillside 
Cemetery, Canisteo.



Martha Donnell  Scott 
PAINTED POST | Martha Donnell Scott, 81, of Overbrook Road, 
died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at her home.
She was a retired teacher from the Corning Painted-Post school 
district.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Scott; one daughter, 
Rachael Weaver of Swindon, England.
Arrangements are incomplete at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel, 
Versailles, Ky. Local arrangements are being handled by the 
Phillips Funeral Home Inc., Corning. Burial will be at the 
Hillcrest Cemetery, Lexington, Ky.



Carol H.  Scullin
ELMIRA | Carl H. Scullin, 83, of 223 Church St., Breesport, 
died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. 
He was employed at Westinghouse Corp. in Horseheads as a 
senior electronics engineer and is credited with over 40 
patents.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ardis Dodds Scullin; 
four sons, Michael Scullin of Alpine, Dennis Scullin of Center 
Brunswick, Gary B. Scullin and Jorge Silvera, both of Houston; 
one daughter, Peggy Ellen Maupin of East Greenbush.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to noon 
Monday at the Van Buskirk-Lynch Funeral Home, Horseheads.
Services will be held at 
1 p.m. Monday at the Breesport United Methodist Church, 110 
Church St., Breesport, the Rev. Anne Mowery officiating. 
Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Breesport.

ERIE, PA. | Clarence L. Seeley, 80, of Galeton, died Monday, 
June 3, 2002 at St. Vincent Hospital. 
He was a truck driver for Earl F. Dean Inc. for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Christine Losey and Mellanie 
Seeley, both of Galeton; two sisters, Bessie Prouty of Ulysses 
and Ella Manning of New Castle, Calif.
There will be no calling hours or services.

BATH | Ronnie F. Sellers, 72, of 7843 Redmond Gully Road, died 
Thursday March 28, 2002 at home.
He was a retired general electrician.

Bradford; two daughters, Theresa Huslage of New Jersey and

She had been a secretary for Corning, Inc.

home.
She was a homemaker.

Sunday, May 26, 2002 at his home.

of Wellsboro and Margaret Cobb of Lawrenceville; brothers 
Joseph and Stanley Shabloski, both of Wellsboro.

Corning-Painted Post school district.
Survivors include a daughter, Marie Whittenhall of Corning; a 
son, Timothy Shadeck of Painted Post; a brother, Clarence 
Losey Jr. of Corning; a sister, Midge Sutton of Painted Post.

BATH | Ernest J. Shaut, 89, of 6294 Bonny Hill Road, died 
Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002 at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital.
He was a former employee of Bath Gas & Electric Co.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Shaut of Bath; three 
daughters, Beverly Risley of Cameron Mills, Barbara Vanderhoff 
and Roberta Thompson, both of Bath; one son, Theodore Shaut of 
Bath; three sisters, Katherine Bailey, Jo Robinson, and Arlene 
Butler, all of Bath; three stepdaughters, Deanna Dyer, Joan 
Muck, and Kimberly Bennage, all of Bath; two stepsons, Gary 
Muck of Lakeville and Carl Muck of Bath.

CORNING | Roger L. Shautt, 68, of Campbell, died Monday, Feb. 
25, 2002 unexpectedly at Corning Hospital.
He was retired from Lemac Unlimited in Hornell after several 
years in auto body repair.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Betty Shautt of 
Campbell; two sons, Dana Shautt of Alaska and Lon Shautt of 
Georgia.
There will be no calling hours.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements 
are with Carpenter's Funeral Home.



Gary L. Shaw
SAYRE, Pa. | Gary L. Shaw, 62, of King Circle, Corning, N.Y., 
died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at Robert Packer Hospital.
He had been a supervisor of maintenance for process research 
and development at Sullivan Park, Corning, Inc., retiring in 
1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Lorna J. Harrington of Corning, 
N.Y.; a son, Bryan L. Shaw of Caton, N.Y.; two sisters, 
Patricia Roth of Corning, N.Y., and Lois K. Campbell of 
Elmira, N.Y.; a brother, Stephen A. Shaw of Vineland, N.J.

First United Methodist Church of Corning, 144 Cedar St.,
