Holly VanGorden of Horseheads; two brothers, Richard Manion 
and Daniel Manion; one sister, Monica Cunha.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

TIOGA, PA. | Madeline Mann, 73, of Corning, N.Y., died 
Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002 in Tioga.
She was a retiree of Corning Inc.
Survivors include two sisters, Agnes Shellman and Teresa 
Mattison, both of Tioga.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at

HORSEHEADS | May Viola Mann, 74, of 583 Middle Road, died 
Wednesday, May 8, 2002.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, John G. Mann Sr.; 
one son, John G. "Butch" Mann of Horseheads; two daughters, 
Barbara K. Mann of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Vicki Egerton of 
Horseheads; five brothers, Elmer "Sonny" Waite and Bob Waite, 
both of Elmira, Don Waite of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Bill Waite 
of Horseheads, and Joe Waite of Big Flats; two sisters, Martha 
Sewalt of Chemung and Jane Niver of Elmira Heights.

Funeral Home.
Services will be held there at 2 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Lew 
Baker officiating. Burial will be in Pine Valley Cemetery,

CORNING | Ruby Elizabeth Manning, 81, of Corning, died 
Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at Corning Hospital.
She retired from Corning Inc. as a secretary in 1978 with 37 
years of service.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Donald Manning of 
Corning; a sister, Mary Lou Collum of Millerton, Pa.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Haughey Funeral 
Home, 216 E. First St., Corning.

CORNING | Duane Manwaring, 30, of Corning, died Thursday, Aug. 
8, 2002 at Founders Pavilion after a long illness.
Survivors include, his mother, Elizabeth Van Treese of Painted 
Post; two brothers, David Manwaring of Painted Post and Edward 
Buchanan of Corning.
Calling hours are from noon to 2 p.m. at the Beilby Funeral

ELMIRA HEIGHTS | David A. Manwarren, 58, formerly of Corning, 
died Friday as a result of an accident.

HORNELL | Loretta I. Marchetti, 90, of 193 Hornell St., died 
Sunday, March 10, 2002, at her home.
She worked as a registered nurse at St. James Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Dolores Ellison of Bath and 
Bonnie Stewart of Albany; a son John Marchetti of Hornell.
There are no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ann's 
Church in Hornell.

Horseheads, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Schuyler Hospital.

Alberta, W.Va.; a brother, Ronald Gray of Bakersfield, Calif.

Florence E.  Markovitz 
TONAWANDA | Florence Esgrow Markovitz, 79, formerly of 
Tonawanda and Galeton, Pa., died Wednesday, May 29, 2002. 
Survivors include two sons, Robert J. Markovitz and Donald C. 
Markovitz; a brother, Jack Esgrow of Corning.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at West Hill 
Cemetery, Galeton, Pa., the Rev. Brian E. Vossler officiating.

DELAND, FLA. | George B. Marland, 75, of Miller Road, died 
Saturday, June 8, 2002 at home.
He had been a process engineer for Corning Inc. with over 40 
years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Marland of DeLand; two 
daughters, Bonnie Kinney of Ormond Beach and Mary Morton of 
Kissimmee; a sister, Marilyn Wilansky of Ashville, N.C.

Frederick C.  Marsh 
CANANDAIGUA | Frederick C. "Fred" Marsh, 87, of Tyrone, died 
Monday, May 27, 2002 at the Canandaigua Veterans 
Administration Hospital.
He was a former employee of Elmira Bridge. He also worked at 
the Horseheads Post Office for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Karen A. Marsh; one daughter, 
Sharon Penney Marsh of Fairport.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Weston 
Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Jane Winters officiating. Burial 
will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira.

Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at Clifton Springs Hospital.
He had been a machine operator for Seneca Foods in Dundee, 
retiring in 1999.
Survivors include his mother, Maria Agosto of Juncos, Puerto 
Rico; five sons, Benny V. Rodriguez of Hinckley, Minn., David 
R. Morse of Sayre, Pa., Mario R. Martinez of Yorba Linda, 
Calif., Edwin A. Martinez of Metuchen, N.J., and Augustin 
Agosto; a daughter, Julie A. Baughman; a brother, Benigno 
Agosto of Orange, N.J.; a sister, Narcisa "Ana Luz" Garcia of 
Juncos, Puerto Rico.

died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 following a long illness.

Monday, June 3, 2002 at Corning Hospital.
He had been employed at Alfred Tech and Mac's Cab.
Survivors include two sons, Jason Marvin and Bobby Marvin; 
three brothers, Otis Marvin of Almond, Douglas Marvin of 
Rochester and Roger Marvin of Alfred Station; a sister, Gayle 
Nevius of Coopers Plains.
Calling hours are 2-3:30 p.m. Friday at Carpenter's Funeral 
Home, 14 E. Pulteney St., Corning.
Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours 
at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Coopers Cemetery,

WELLSBORO, PA. | Orlando B. "Bugs" Marzo, 68, of Osceola, died 
Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial 
Hospital in Wellsboro.
He was a self-employed contractor and farmer, a former Osceola 
Township supervisor and a former employee of Elkland Leather 
Co.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Marzo of Osceola; two 
sons, Tim Marzo, of Osceola, Louis Marzo of Osceola; a sister, 
Eda Cerchie of Elkland.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Kenyon Funeral 
Home, 214 Main St., Elkland, the Rev. Wieslaw Ziebacz 
officiating.



Angelo  Masi 
ELMIRA | Angelo Masi, 93, of 152 W. Washington Ave., died 
Monday, Aug. 26, 2002 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He had been retired from Elmira Floral Products.
Survivors include two sons, Antonio Masi of Rochester and 
Lorenzo Masi of Horseheads; a daughter, Teresa Masi Tiberia of 
Elmira; a sister, Antonietta Ciotoli of Italy.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. today at 
St. Anthony's Church. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul's 
Cemetery. Arrangements are by Kalec Funeral Home.



Cecil Delbert  Mason
CAMPBELL l Cecil Delbert Mason, 90, of Tannery Road, died 
Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at The Waters of Three Rivers Health 
Care Center.
He was a retired employee of the Corning-Painted Post School 
District, Lindley-Presho School.
Survivors include three daughters, Harriet Pruden and Ellen 
Walter of Painted Post, and Shirley Breen of Hampton, Va.; 
three sons, Dale Mason of Orlando, Fla., Ronald Mason of 
Painted Post, and Donald Mason of Campbell.
Calling hours are from 10 -11:30 a.m. today at the Beartown 
Road Alliance Church.
Services will be held there at 11:30 a.m. today at the church. 
Burial will be in Chapel Knoll Cemetery.

ELMIRA | Alice G. Mason, 89, of Shelbourne Street, Horseheads, 
died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. 
Survivors include one daughter, Janice Kinney of Horseheads; 
one son, Ernest Mason of Breesport.

Annie E. 'Betty'Fultz  Massi
LYONS | Annie E. "Betty" Fultz Massi, 76, of Lyons, formerly 
of Newark, N.J., and Dundee, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002 at 
the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons.
She was a nurse at Willard Psychiatric Hospital and the Newark 
Developmental Center until her retirement in 1988.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph J. Massi of Newark; two 
sons, Earl L. Fultz Jr. of Estacada, Ore., and Gerald Fultz of 
Allentown, Pa.; a stepson, Kenneth J. Massi of Ione, Calif., 
two stepdaughters, Carol Ann Netzer and Lorraine Massi, both 
of Auburn; two sisters, Virtue Kamler of Redwood City, Calif., 
and Mary Briggs of Dundee.

CORNING | Robert Floyd Mastenbrook Sr., 75, of Taft Road, 
Painted Post, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Corning Hospital.
He was a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Mastenbrook; two sons, Robert 
Mastenbrook Jr. of Painted Post and William Mastenbrook of 
Campbell; three daughters, Marilyn Sokira of Corning, Eva 
Dobson of Painted Post, and Ila Denmark of Westfield, Mass.; 
six sisters, Betty Youngs of Coopers Plains, Dolly Winnie of 
Florida, Mina Locey of Corning, Helen Hall of Campbell, 
Dorothy Culvertson of Painted Post, and Harriett Miller of 
Lindley.

He was retired owner operator of Precious Plating, Inc.

Fla.; three sons, Jerry Matacale of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., 
Ralph Matacale, DDS. of Bloomington; a sister, Florence Rice 
of Miami, Fla.; a brother, Gene Matacale of Howard, N.Y.

WELLSVILLE | Alva J. "Al" Matteson, 80, of Genesee, Pa., 
formerly of Coudersport, Pa. died Wednesday, Aug., 14, 2002 in 
the Wellsville Manor.
He had worked on construction, pipeline and had been employed 
at the Damascus Tannery in Coudersport he had also been a self 
employed carpenter and painter.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Winifred Stratton 
Matteson; a son, Dennis Matteson of Genesee; a daughter, 
Janice Laubach of Miflinburg, Pa.; two brothers, Ernest 
Matteson of Genesee, Pa., and Marion Matteson of Wellsville; 
three sisters, Iva Austin of Winterhaven, Fla., Agnes Currier 
and Phyllis Denhoff both of Wellsville.

Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
She had worked for many years for Mergenthaler Linotype 
Company in Wellsboro, Pa.
Survivors include two sons, William Slingerland of 
Springfield, Ill. and Carl Slingerland of Elmira; three 
stepdaughters, Cathy Labar of Erin, Vicki Smith of Elmira 
Heights and Jolie Dunkle of Tampa, Fla.

St. Charles Borromeo Church. Burial will be in St. Peter and

many years.

and Susan May both of Elmira.

He worked for Corning Inc. for 30 years as a lighting 
technician.

VanAlstine of Campbell; three sons, Ronnie Maynard of 
Harrisburg, Pa., Randy Maynard of Painted Post, and Steve 
Maynard of Antelope, Calif.; three sisters, June Campbell of 
Schenectady, Jean Ridler of Winter Haven, Fla., and Rheta 
Cisco of Wellsboro, Pa; mother, Illa Maynard of Wellsboro, Pa.

She was a retired nurse from Meyer Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include a nephew, Charles Metcalf of Westfield and a 
niece, Cheryl Cady of Westfield.

died Friday, April 19, 2002 unexpectedly.
She assisted in the operation of a dairy farm in Rexville, was 
a former postal clerk for the Post Office in Rexville and 
served two terms as tax collector for the Town of Greenwood.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph McCaffrey of Minoa, 
Robert McCaffrey of Oswego and John McCaffrey of York; a 
sister, Geraldine Lewis of Greenwood.
