Robert G.  Holland 
BRADFORD, PA. | Robert G. "Buzz" Holland, 95, formerly of 
Ulysses, died Monday, July 15, 2002 at the Bradford Ecumenical 
Home. 
He had owned and operated a pharmacy in Ulysses for many 
years. He was also employed as a meat-cutter at Fitzwater's 
Grocery in Westfield and worked as a Potter County caseworker 
for many years.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Holland of Ridgway; one 
sister, Grace Campbell of Peoria, Ariz.
Calling hours are 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the Benjamin R. Olney 
Funeral Home, Ulysses.
Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours 
at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Richard G. Kirk officiating. 
Burial with military rites will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

She was retired from Wingate Insurance of Westfield.
Survivors include a daughter, June H. Starke of Westfield; a 
son, Tom Hollenbaugh of Westfield; two brothers, Wallace 
Ackley Jr. and G. Roy Ackley, both of Westfield.

Delbert B.  Hoobler II
HORSEHEADS | Delbert B. Hoobler II, 58, of Prospect Hill Road, 
died Tuesday, July 9, 2002 after a brief illness.
He was a member of the business community for more than 35 
years, working as a vice president and senior commercial loan 
officer for Elmira Savings Bank. 
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Susan E. Hoobler; four 
sons, Ray Hoobler, D.B. Hoobler, Kyle Hoobler and Jesse 
Hoobler; three daughters, Felicia Strong, DeAnna Hunt and 
Alyssa Hoobler.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Van 
Buskirk-Lynch Funeral Home. 
A prayer service will be held there at 9 a.m. Friday, followed 
by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Our 
Mother Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. 



Gordon W.  Hopkins 
HORNELL | Gordon W. Hopkins, 79, of 95 Maple St., Canisteo, 
died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002 at St. James Mercy Hospital.
He was the Canisteo Town Justice for six years.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Eloise B. Hopkins; two 
sons, Thomas H. Hopkins of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and James 
G. Hopkins of Orchard Park; a daughter, Laurena Stefan-owicz 
of Annondale, Va.

She worked as a retail clerk at Hunt's Newsroom in Addison.

Marcy Carlineo of Addison, Ann Oakley of Painted Post, Jobie 
Ames of Bath, Susyn Hopper of Watkins Glen; a son, Dennis 
Hopper of Athens, Ga.; a half-sister, Jeanette Schoonover of 
Lindley; a stepsister, Ruth Ameigh of Kissimmee, Fla.; a 
stepbrother, Edward Westfall of Florida.

John T.  Horn
HECTOR | John T. Horn, also known as Jack Shane, 50, of 12 
Brown Road, Corning, died Monday, July 1, 2002 at his home in 
Hector.
He was a radio broadcaster in the Corning area for more than 
35 years. He co-hosted Breakfast with Jack and Bob on WCBA-FM 
for the last 12 years.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Anne Horn; three 
sisters, Martha K. Barnes of Springdale, Ark., M. Rebecca 
Rebenstorf of Tucson, Ariz., and Anne B. Horn of Phoenix, 
Ariz.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at 
St. Mary's Church, Corning. 
Arrangements are with the Haughey Funeral Home, Corning.



John T.  Horn 
John T. Horn (Jack Shane), 50 years of 12 Brown Rd., Corning, 
and Seneca Lake, Hector, NY died unexpectedly at his summer 
home on Seneca Lake.
Jack had two loves in his life...his wife Anne Hudson Horn and 
the magic of radio.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Church, Tuesday, 
July 9, 2002 at 11:00 am.
Anyone who wishes to attend the Church is urged to use the 
satellite parking in Corning Building Company's Plaza, bus 
transportation has been donated by Covered Wagon Bus Tours. 
Busing will begin at 10:00 am and run until 10:45. After the 
service is over the buses will return riders to the CBC 
Parking lot. Arrangements are with the Haughey Funeral Home, 
216 E. First St., Corning, NY 14830.

WELLSBORO, PA. | Charles G. (Butch) Horton, 60, of 
Lawrenceville, died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at the Green 
Home.
He had been a mechanic for Albee Truck Inc. of Elmira, N.Y.
Survivors include his wife, Clida L. Horton; a son, Charles 
Todd Horton; two brothers, Gene Horton and Daniel Horton.

CAMERON MILLS | Ernest Horton, 64, or 5880 Learn Road died 
Saturday, May 18, 2002 at home.
He was a mechanic at McKinley Sales and Lease in Bath for more 
than 17 years and later was a bus driver for the Addison 
school district.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Morseman, a daughter, 
Virginia Wilber of Addison, four sons, Ernest Horton Jr., 
William Horton and Johnny, all of Corning, and Earl Horton of 
Painted Post; five brothers, Jesse Horton of Addison, Lawrence 
Horton of Cameron Mills, Elmer Horton of Corning, and Charles 
and Richard Horton, both of Addison; six sisters, Mabel 
Budinger of Belmont, Josephine Tyler of Corning, Vera 
Morseman, Sarah Manning, Shirley Hollister and Sharon Dailey, 
all off Addison.

died Friday, March 1, 2002 at home.

Hoskins of Bath; Joanne VanSkiver of Campbell and Marjorie

MONTOUR FALLS | Iva B. Houck, 84, of Montour Falls, died 
Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at Schuyler Hospital.
She was retired as meal site coordinator at Office For The 
Aging in Montour Falls.

for many years.

Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 at St. James Hospital.
She was employed at the Bath Veterans Administration Credit 
Union.

sons, David Garlick of Cohocton and James Garlick of Eric, 
Pa.; a sister, Laura Roys of Maryland.

carpenter.

ERIN | Crystal Ann Inman, 38, of 797 Breesport Road, died 
Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002.
Survivors include her parents, James and Evelyn Alexander 
Brown; two sons, Jonathan Brown of Erin and Marcus Christian 
Inman of Virginia; a daughter, Jenna Leigh Inman of Virginia; 
a brother, Shain Brown of Erin.

CORNING | William H. Jacobs, 60, of 6513 Monterey Road, 
Savona, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Corning Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Gurnsey Jacobs; one son, 
BJ Jacobs of Buffton, Ind.; three stepsons, Brian Gurnsey of 
Reno, Nev., Darryl Barr of Vancouver, Wash., and Aaron Barr of 
San Diego, Calif. ; one sister, Roxie Slayton of Bath.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Seager Funeral 
Home, Savona.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell United 
Methodist Church, Pastor Sharon Battist officiating.



Josephine A. Jacobs 
ELMIRA | Josephine "Josie" A. Jacobs, 66, of 6513 Monterey 
Road, Savona, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at Arnot Ogden 
Medical Center.
She was a bus driver for the Haverling Central School 
District.
Survivors include three sons, Brian Gurnsey of Reno, Nev., 
Darryl Barr of Vancouver, Wash., and Aaron Barr of San Diego, 
Calif.; a stepson, B.J. Jacobs of Buffton, Ind.; and a 
brother, James Gurnsey of Campbell.
Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Seager 
Funeral Home on Main Street. Services will be held at 7 p.m. 
Wednesday at Campbell United Methodist Church, the Rev. Sharon 
Battist officiating.



Arthur P.  Jacoby 
VENICE, FLA. | Arthur P. Jacoby, 71, of Venice, died 
Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002 at home.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Gertrude H. Jacoby of 
Venice; two daughters, Helen Jacoby of Syracuse, N.Y., 
Christina Axelrod of Montclair, N.J.; a brother, David Jacoby 
of Corning, N.Y.; a sister, Jennifer Dawson of St. Petersburg, 
Fla.
Services will be held at a later date in Corning, N.Y.



Ruben  Jacoby 
BATH | Ruben Jacoby, 81, of 7940.5 Dunsenberry Road, Savona, 
died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Bath V.A. Medical Center.
He was retired from the ground crew at Corning Inc. with 47 
years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Anna Rumsey Jacoby; 
four daughters, Linda Buckley of Wyoming, Deborah Hyer, Robin 
Pierce and Vicky King, all of Savona; a son, Thomas Jacoby of 
Bath.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Seager 
Funeral Home, Main Street, Savona.
Services will be held there at 11 a.m. Thursday, Bill Bowdoin 
officiating. Burial will be in Seamans Cemetery, Savona



Glenn F. James 
BATH | Glenn James, 88, of 5166 McNutt Run Road in Campbell, 
died Thursday, July 4, 2002 at the Steuben County Health Care 
Facility.
He worked in the maintenance department at Corning Inc. for 50 
years and as a Campbell school bus driver for 14 years. He 
also operated a reloading and firearm repair service in his 
home.
Survivors include his wife Louisa James; a son, Clyde Taylor 
of Lodi; three daughters, Ellen Davis of Sherman, Tex., Della 
Stephens of Campbell, and Dale Ruggles of South Bradford.
Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Seager Funeral Home on 
Main Street in Savona.
Services will be held there at 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will be 
in Seamens Cemetery in Savona.



Louise Jeffers
WELLSVILLE | Louise Jeffers, 86, of North Bingham, Pa., died 
Thursday, June 20, 2002 at Jones Memorial Hospital.
She had worked for Grants in Wellsville, Westinghouse in Bath 
and also worked for several businesses.
Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Jeffers of Monroe, 
Mich., and Dale O. Jeffers of Mishicot, Wis.; three daughters, 
Joanne Scully of North Bingham; Caroline Starks of Friendship 
and Elaine Horton of Troy, Pa.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the 
North Bingham Community Church, the Rev. William W. Allen 
officiating. Burial will be in Spring Mills Cemetery. 
Arrangements are by Benjamin R. Olney Funeral Home, Ulysses, 
Pa.
