Jennersville Regional Medical Center.
He had been a circulation marketing manager with the Lancaster 
Newspaper for 4 years.
Survivors include his wife Karen Argentieri Thurkins; his 
parents, Paul and Mildred Baltich Thurkins of Painted Post, 
N.Y.; a daughter, Carrie Thurkins of Chadds Ford; two sons, 
Nicholas Thurkins and Michael Thurkins both at home; three 
brothers, David Thurkins of Painted Post, N.Y, Jerry Thurkins 
of Dallas, Ga. and Jeffrey Thurkins of Wethersfield, Conn.; a 
sister, Diane French of East Burke, Vt.
Calling hours are 6:30-8:30 p.m. today and 9-10:30 a.m. 
Wednesday at Reynolds Funeral Home, Quarryville.
Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours 
at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Little Britain 
Presbyterian Cemetery, Peach Bottom.

CORNING | Donald Jackson Tingley, 79, of Goff Road, died 
Friday, May 31, 2002 at his home.
He was a retired mechanical engineer at Corning Inc., where he 
worked for 50 years. He later worked as a tax preparer for 
Andrews Tax Service in New Jersey.
Survivors include his wife, Priscilla; three daughters, Susan 
Tingley and Carol Tingley, both of Raleigh, NC, and Jane 
Hunter of Austin, Texas; two sons, James Tingley of Corning 
and Edward Tingley of San Francisco, a brother, Sanford 
Tingley of Cleveland.
Calling hours are 2-4 p.m. Monday at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 
14 E. Pulteney St. 
Services will be held at 
11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, 144 
Cedar St., Corning, the Rev. Sung Ho Lee officiating. Burial 
will follow in the Hope Cemetery Annex.

BATH | Frederick Titman, 72, of 10 Howell St., died Friday, 
Feb. 8, 2002 at the Bath VA Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Bath 
National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Bender-Brown & Powers 
Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell.

LAWRENCEVILLE, PA. | Robert W. Towner, 59, of Buffards 
Riverside Estates, died Thursday, April 11, 2002 at home.
He had been a pipe fitter with Corning Inc. for 39 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Towner of Lawrenceville; 
two daughters, Deborah Jones and Christine Towner, both of 
Lindley, N.Y.; a son, Scott Towner of Irvine, Calif.; a 
stepson, Brian Button of Knoxville.

LAWRENCEVILLE, PA. | Robert W. Towner, 59, of Buffards 
Riverside Estates died Thursday, April 11, 2002 at home.

BATH | Wilma Onnolee Towner, 81, formerly of Avoca, died 
Friday, April 26, 2002 at the Steuben County Health Care 
Facility.
She was a retired Avoca School District bus driver.
Survivors include two sons, Eldon Towner of Wheeler and 
Bernard Towner of Wallace; two daughters, Virginia O. Towner 
of Prattsburgh and Patricia A. Havens of Wallace; one brother, 
Dalton Wheaton of Bath.
Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Seager-Jones Funeral 
Home, 4 E. Washington St.
Services will be held there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be 
in Clearview Cemetery, North Cohocton.

WILLIAMSPORT, PA. | Harold C. Traub, 81, of Germania, died 
Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at Williamsport Hospital.
He owned and operated Pine Kettle Farm in Germania for many 
years.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, June K. Welfing Traub; 
two sons, David Traub of Gillett and John Traub of Germania.
Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Collins-Olney Funeral 
Home, Galeton.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthaeus 
Lutheran Church, Germania, the Rev. Joseph A. Wolf Jr. 
officiating. Burial will be in Germania Cemetery.

SAYRE, PA. | Shirley J. Trott, 73, of Gold, died Wednesday, 
May 29, 2002 at Robert Packer Hospital.
She had been a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, John E. Trott and Frederick W. 
Trott, both of Genesee.

PENN YAN | Anna Twardowski, 94, of Dundee, formerly of 
Passaic, N.J., died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at Soldiers & 
Sailors Memorial Hospital. 
She was a machine operator for Robinson-Gulliber, a 
handkerchief maker in Passaic, NJ.
Survivors include one daughter, Irene Miller of Dundee; one 
son, Richard V. Twardowski of Missouri City, Texas; two 
sisters, Stella Maciag and Helen Judkins, both of Dundee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 
10:30 a.m. today at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Union 
Street, Dundee.
Arrangements are by the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St., 
Dundee.

ELMIRA | Fern M. Baylor Urkewich, 76, of Old Ithaca Road, 
Horseheads, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at St. Joseph’s 
Hospital, after a brief illness.
Survivors include one son, James Urkewich of Elmira; one 
sister, Barbara Howe of Hammondsport and Florida; one brother, 
Robert Baylor of Cincinnati, Ohio.

WESTFIELD, PA. | Martha Passage White VanNorman, 96, of Green 
Home, formerly of 118 Walnut St., Westfield, died Tuesday, 
April 9, 2002 at home.
Survivors include a son, David VanNorman of Naples, Fla.

2 p.m. Tuesday at the Westfield United Methodist Church, 
Westfield, the Rev. Dr. James F. Bellamy officiating. Burial 
will be in Bradford County Memorial Gardens, Luther Mills.

FLORIDA | Betty Alice VanScoter, 78, formerly of Hornell, died 
Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 in Winter Haven.
She had worked for the former A&P in Hornell for over 30 
years.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Harding of Florida; a 
sister, JoAnn VanSkiver of Canisteo; two brothers, Thomas 
Hollister and James Hollister, both of Hornell.
Services were held in Florida.



 Geraldine A.  VanWinkle 
CORNING | Geraldine A. VanWinkle, 95, formerly of Camptown, 
Pa., died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at Founders Pavilion.
She had been employed at the Eclipse Company of Elmira also at 
the Campton Dress Company of Camptown, Pa., and she retired 
from the Bendix Corporation of South Montrose, Pa., with 21 
years service.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Patrick of Corning; a son, 
Gerald WanWinkle of Wilton, N.H.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held in Rushville, Pa., at the 
convenience of the family. Burial will be in Rushville 
Cemetery. 



 Raymond W.  Vanzile
BATAVIA | Raymond W. Vanzile, 60, of 9521 Francis Road, died 
Wednesday, April 3, 2002.
He was a farmer and a maintenance man at Union 76 Truck Stop 
in Corfu.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Vanzile of Batavia; a 
daughter, Constance Schirmer of Batavia; two brothers, Robert 
Vanzile of Warsaw and Duane Rogers of Addison; four sisters, 
Linda Drayton of Cameron, N.C., Carol Pangracio of Tallahasee, 
Fla., Cindy Provorce of Nunda, and Donna Dilcher of Apex, N.C.

Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St., Woodhull.

27, 2002 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.

Victor of McHenry, Ill.; daughters Connie Hewitt of Candia, 
N.H. and Chris DeCirce of Camillus; father Edward Isaacs of 
Horseheads; brothers Ed Isaacs Jr. of Chemung and Charlie 
Elston of Lowman; sister Bonnie Swartz of Horseheads.

He had several jobs as a draftsman and operated his own 
business, Rennie’s Grill in Elmira for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Wilsern Vockroth of 
Southport; three daughters, E. Diane Serino-Wood of Elmira, 
Helene L. Robeson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Madelyn Balok 
of Southport.

Wallace Jr. and Jeffrey Wallace, both of Bath, N.Y., and 
Lawrence Wallace of Savona, N.Y.; six sisters, Dorothy Clark 
of Corning, N.Y., Pauline Vasoure of Arkansas, Marion Rosell 
of Wayland, N.Y., Doris Taylor of Clearwater, Fla., Irene 
Mesler and Phyllis Ferris, both of Bath, N.Y.

She was formerly employed at the state hospital in Rockland 
County, N.Y.

Carol Ward of Dunnellon and June Ward Thomas of Savona, N.Y.; 
a son, Calvin A. Ward Jr. of Savona, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph 
June of Dunnellon; a sister, Catherine Mackey of Dunnellon.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be in Rockland County, N.Y., at the convenience of 
the family.
