HORNELL | Robert R. “Bob” Rohan, 82, of 35 Pine St., Hornell, 
died Friday, April 5, 2002, at St. James Mercy Hospital.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was 
employed for many years at the former Erie, Erie-Lackawanna 
railroads, retiring as a fireman with Conrail.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Cullen Rohan; a son, 
Michael Rohan of Rochester; two daughters, Elizabeth Pelych 
and Joanne Hogan, both of Hornell.

TIOGA, PA. | Harold C. Rose, of Tioga died Thursday, Feb. 28, 
2002 at home.

Road, died unexpectedly Monday, April 1, 2002 at home.
He was a student at Corning West High School.

Lakeland, Texas; a brother, Matthew Ross of Painted Post.

of Miami, Fla. and Paul of Corning; a daughter, Mary Kathryn 
of Wilmington, Del.; her mother, Vincenzina Ferraro of Painted

Ogden Hospital.

WESTFIELD, PA. | Aileen H. Rugaber, 92, of Westfield, died 
Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at Wheaton’s Personal Care Home.
She and her husband, Arthur R. Rugaber, owned and operated a 
furniture business in Westfield until they retired in 1949.
Survivors include a son, Robert Rugaber of Butler; a daughter, 
Miriam R. Trowbridge of Clearmont, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. 
John’s Episcopal Church, Westfield. Burial will be in

University Hospital.
She had been director of Manufacturing Strategy and Planning 
for Corning, Inc. in Elmira, N.Y. and also plant manager of 
various Corning Inc. plants in New York, Pennsylvania and 
Ohio.

language in Troupsburg Central School District. She and her 
husband Gordon, also operated Scott’s Dairy.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Gordon G. Scott; 
two daughters, Diane Miller of Canisteo and Carolyn Cannain of 
Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, Robert Scott of Canisteo and 
William Scott of Frankfort, Ky.

He was employed at Westinghouse Corp. in Horseheads as a 
senior electronics engineer and is credited with over 40 
patents.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ardis Dodds Scullin; 
four sons, Michael Scullin of Alpine, Dennis Scullin of Center 
Brunswick, Gary B. Scullin and Jorge Silvera, both of Houston; 
one daughter, Peggy Ellen Maupin of East Greenbush.

CORNING | Roger L. Shautt, 68, of Campbell, died Monday, Feb. 
25, 2002 unexpectedly at Corning Hospital.
He was retired from Lemac Unlimited in Hornell after several 
years in auto body repair.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Betty Shautt of 
Campbell; two sons, Dana Shautt of Alaska and Lon Shautt of 
Georgia.
There will be no calling hours.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements 
are with Carpenter’s Funeral Home.

BATH | Nancy Watkins Sheppard, 40, of 8418 Route 53, Kanona, 
died Friday, April 12, 2002 at Ira Davenport Memorial 
Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Tanya Bennett of Bath; a son, 
Joseph Bennett of Osceola, Pa.; four sisters, Lela Furher of 
Osceola, Pa., Annette Kio of Westfield, Pa., Phyllis Erb of 
Knoxville, Pa., and Jodi Love of Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, 
Lewis Watkins Jr. of Conway, Ark.; parents, Lewis and Retha 
Watkins Sr. of Knoxville, Pa.; and fiance, David Ahrens of 
Kanona.

LAWRENCEVILLE, PA. | Homer A. Sherwood, 89, of Ronda’s 
Personal Care Home, formerly of Addison, N.Y., died Wednesday, 
May 8, 2002 at home.
He was a retired Army First Lieutenant with 25 years of 
service. He also worked for New York State Department of 
Health.
Survivors include a cousin, Richard O’Lenick of Painted Post, 
N.Y.
Calling hours are 1-3 p.m. Friday at Flint Funeral Home, 10 
Wall St., Addison, N.Y.
Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours 
at 3 p.m. Friday, the Rev. Sandra Olmstead officiating. Burial 
will be in Addison Rural Cemetery.

HORNELL | Julia A. Sherwood, 79, of McAuley Manor, formerly of 
King Hill Road, Campbell, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 at 
McAuley Manor.
Survivors include five daughters, Betty Stiles and Sandra 
Johnson, both of Cortland, Barbara Sherwood of Elmira, Ellen 
Sherwood of Bath and Cindy Sherwood of Campbell; a son, 
Stephen Sherwood of Pulteney.

PENN YAN | Francis H. Shinebarger, 75, formerly of Millport 
and Dundee, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002 at Soldiers & Sailors 
Hospital.
He had been a farmer and artist.
Survivors include a daughter, Amy Lynn Shinebarger of 
Charleston, W. Va.; a sister, Betty Morgan of Millport.

Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport.

at 8 p.m. Thursday, Pastor Lew Baker officiating. Burial will

ELMIRA | Richard W. Shores, 51, of Elmira died Sunday, March 
17, 2002.
He had been a therapist aide at Elmira Psychiatric Center.
Survivors include four sons, Richard J. Shores of Lake Placid, 
Jason M. Shores and Patrick B. Shores, both of Fla. and Mark 
E. Shores of Pine City; his mother, Rose Cady of Elmira; a 
brother, Donald Shores of Wellsburg; two sisters, Elaine 
Wilson of Pine Valley and Sandra Yentzer of North Carolina.
Services were held Tuesday at Kalec Funeral Home. Burial will 
be today at 9 a.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

ELMIRA | Lena M. Short, 86, of Morris Run, Pa., died Saturday, 
Feb. 16, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was a homemaker.
