HORNELL | Harold E. Raner, 89, of 12 North St., Canisteo, died 
Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at St. James Hospital. 
He had been a truck driver for Cimpi Trucking of Auburn, was 
manager of the Onondaga Supply Store in Auburn, and worked for 
Singer Climate Control in Auburn. 
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Beryl Amerman Raner; 
two daughters, Brenda Goldian of Baltimore, Md., and Sue Jayne 
of Auburn.
Private services will be held at the Brown & Powers Funeral 
Home of Canisteo, the Rev. Jane Shumway officiating. Burial 
will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Almond.
 Pauline H. Raniewicz 
ELMIRA HEIGHTS | Pauli-ne H. Raniewicz, 93, of College Avenue 
Elmira Heights, died Saturday March 30, 2002.
She was a retired employee of Upstate Tool and the former 
Berger-Sherin Silk Mill.
Survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are at 10:30 a.m. today at the Kalec Funeral 
Home.
Service will be there at noon today at the St. Casimir’s 
Church. The Rev. Christopher Linsler officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

CORNING | J. Thomas “Tom” Recotta, 59, of 20 Flint Road, 
Horseheads, died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Corning Hospital.
He was a properties manager at Corning Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne C. Recotta of Horseheads; 
two sons, Robert T. Recotta of Buffalo, James P. Recotta of 
Corning; a brother, Robert E. Recotta of Avon.
Calling hours are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips 
Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. 
Thursday at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 222 Dodge Ave., 
Corning. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Corning.
 Mary T. Reed 
BATH | Mary T. Reed, 56, of 10 W. Morris Street, Bath died 
Saturday, May 25, 2002 at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital. 
Mrs. Reed was born in N. Hornell, April 19, 1946 the daughter 
of the late Leverette and Phillis (Ross) Terwilliger. She was 
a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband Roland Reed of Bath, NY; 2 
daughters, Yvonne Reed of Buffalo, NY and Suzette Reed of 
Bath, NY; her son Jeffery Reed of Canyon County, CA; her 
granddaughter, Christa Jacobs; 2 sisters, Gail (Charles) 
Scully of Liverpool, NY and Daisey (Jay) Allmann of Liverpool, 
NY and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her 
parents.
Friends may call today, May 29th from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 
PM at Fagan’s Funeral Home in Bath. Funeral Services will be 
held Wednesday at 11:30 AM at the funeral home with Reverend 
Robert Tuttle officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery 
in Almond, NY. Memorial donations, in Mary’s name, may be made 
to the National MS Society, Upstate New York Chapter, Donor 
Relations Center, 1000 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620.

WHITNEYVILLE, PA. | John P. Resotko, 64, of Whitneyville, died 
Sunday, March 3, 2002 at home.
He had been owner of the Great Valley House Restaurant in 
Ansonia and worked for Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in 
Wellsboro for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Annbeth Kurtzo; a 
daughter, Theresa Weir; a son, John Resotko; three brothers, 
Steve Resotko of Pompton Plaines, N.J., Bill Resotko of 
Clifton, N.Y, and Joseph Resotko of The Poconos; three 
sisters, Ann Scherback of Clifton, N.J., Helen Shovan of 
Hawthorn, N.J., and Maryanne Davieau of Allentown.
Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Tussey-Mosher Funeral 
Home, 139 Main St., Wellsboro.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter’s 
Catholic Church, Wellsboro.

CANISTEO | Dwight R. Reynolds, 71, of Green Street died 
Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at home.
He had been a spinner specialist for Corning Inc., retiring in 
1987. 
Survivors include his wife, Natalie S. Brasted Reynolds; three 
sons, Scott Reynolds of Canisteo, Craig Reynolds of Bluffton, 
Ind., and Robert Reynolds of Anderson Island, Wash.; a sister, 
Erma Landon of Safety Harbor, Fla.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial 
will be in Bath National Cemetery.
Arrangements are by H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Canisteo.

PAYSON, Ariz. | Hilda Rhodes, 94, of Payson, formerly of Big 
Flats, died Friday, April 5, 2002 at home.
She had been the historian of the Town of Big Flats, N.Y.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Steel of Payson and Thomas 
Rhodes of Big Flats, N.Y.; two daughters, Margaret Johnston of 
Frierson, La. and Esther Good, of Horseheads, N.Y.

Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002 at his winter home.
He was an insurance and real estate agent for Mutual of Omaha. 
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Idalene Richards of 
Southport; one son, Bill Richards of Doylestown, Pa.; one 
daughter, Joyce Corcoran of Burns, Ore.

ELMIRA | Jean R. Roemmelt Rider, 84, of Bennett Circle West, 
Elmira Heights, died Monday, April 15, 2002 at Arnot Ogden 
Medical Center.
She had worked as an officer for Marine Midland Bank with over 
25 years of service.
Survivors include a brother, Robert A. Roemmelt Sr. of 
Horseheads.

Horseheads, N.Y.; one son, Raymond C. Ridgway of Mill Valley, 
Calif.

CORNING | Gladys M. Rinehart, 89, of Beaver Dams, died Monday, 
March 18, 2002 at Corning Hospital.
Survivors include two brothers, Elmer Beard of Odessa and 
Adelbert Beard of Farmington; three sisters, Marien Beard of 
Corning, Alberta Beard-Wallas of Bath and Alice Chase of 
Campbell.

OCALA, Fla. | Frederick L. Roberts, 88, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 
2002 at Munroe Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was a former Angelica, N.Y., resident having served as 
mayor, school board president and village trustee.
He was owner and founder of Fred Roberts Auto Parts Inc. and 
owner of the Bowes Seal Fast franchise and several car washes.
Survivors include a son, Paul Roberts of Ocala; a brother, 
Harold “Tommy” Roberts of Annandale, Va.

MELBOURNE, FLA. | Ronald T. Robertson, 53, of 1139 Price Ave. 
N.W., Palm Bay, formerly of Addison, N.Y., died Wednesday, 
Feb. 20, 2002 at Holmes Regional Medical Center after an 
extended illness.
He was a former senior machine design engineer for Hills Inc. 
of West Melbourne. He also worked for North American Phillips 
in Bath, N.Y.
Survivors include his parents, Elden and Dorothy Robertson of 
Addison, N.Y.; three brothers, Randall Robertson of Cameron, 
N.Y., and Richard Robertson and Rodney Robertson, both of 
Addison, N.Y.; two sisters, Rebecca Dyke of Syracuse, N.Y. and 
Roxanne Dickerson of Addison, N.Y.

Palm Bay, and formerly of Addison, died Wednesday, Feb. 20,

West Melbourne. He had also worked for North American Phillips 
in Bath, N.Y., and was a policeman in Addison, N.Y.

He had worked for Fagan Engineers for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lucille Smith 
Robinson; five sons, Greg Robinson of Reston, Va., Jay 
Robinson of Amherst, Bryon Robinson of Elmira, Mark Robinson 
and Jeff Robinson of both of Corning; two daughters, Linda 
Robinson of Martinsburg, W. Va. and Dianne M. Robinson of 
Corning; a brother, Sheldon Robinson of Wellsburg.

Monroe Ave., died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002 at Hornell Gardens 
after along illness.
He had been a farmer in Arkport.
Survivors include two sisters, Iris Ellis of Auburn and Phylis 
Wilkens of Worthington, Ohio; two brothers, David Robords of 
Glastonburg, Conn., and L. James Robords of Arkport.

Dennis Rodabaugh; two brothers, Rexford Ostrander and Leon 
Ostrander.

of Pine City, and Terry Bonham of Wellsville; one sister, 
Nellie Jackson of Elmira; one brother, George Rogers of Utah.
