CORNING | Virginia A. (Sue) DeWitt, 64, of Weller Place, 
Painted Post, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Corning Hospital.
She had retired from Corning Glass Works.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff DeWitt of Oviedo, Fla., and 
Jody DeWitt of Corning; a daughter, Jennifer Orourke of 
Burdette; three brothers, Lewis Boyce and Mike Boyce both of 
Mansfield, Pa., and Joe Boyce of Stroudsburg, Pa.; two 
sisters, Thelma Wickman of Blossburg, Pa., and Margaret (Peg) 
Strait of Wellsboro, Pa.

WAYLAND | Clarence G. Dibble Jr., 70, of 8988 Burns Road, died 
Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at The Vincent House following a brief 
illness.
He retired after 38 years as a crane operator at Forster 
Wheeler Energy Corp. in Dansville and worked for the Hornell 
Area Transit.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Cary Dibble; two 
daughters, Joanne Hoyt of Prattsburgh and Jean Erskine Jr. of 
Eustis, Fla.; three sons, David Dibble of Arkport, Dean Dibble 
of Hornell and Robert Dibble of Arkport.

LEBANON, PA. | Richard Dickersheid, 58, of Ephrata, died 
Saturday, March 16, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was retired from H.R. Ewell in Blue Ball where he worked as 
a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Donna R. Dickersheid; four sons, 
Christopher Dickersheid, Joshua D. Dickersheid and Robert E. 
Dickersheid, Richard Parke; a step son, Christopher Copp; a 
daughter, Alissa Mattern; a brother, Robert Dickersheid.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at the Hope United 
Methodist Church in Ephrata, the Rev. Mary Jane Kirby 
officiating. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National 
Cemetery.

HORNELL | James “Jim” Didas Jr., 70, of 173 Thacher St., died 
Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 at home.
He had been employed by the former SKF Industries in Hornell 
for about 33 years and by SUNY Alfred for five years.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Deanne Jensen Didas; a 
son, Timothy Didas of Rochester; a stepson, Michael Connor of 
Canandaigua; a stepdaughter, LuAnne Goldman of Catlett, Va.; a 
brother, Gerald Didas of Hornell; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth 
Lawton and Shirley Hollister, both of Hornell.

Friday, March 1, 2001 at Corning Hospital.
She had been a registered nurse at Corning Hospital.

daughter, Audrey Goolrick of Anandale, Va.

St., died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 at home.
He was employed by the former Erie, Erie-Lackawanna Railroads, 
retiring from Conrail as a dispatcher with 45 years of 
service.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary K. Carafice of 
Falconer, Joan Doty of Wayland, Margaret DiVincenzo Flohr of 
Fairfax, Va., and Angela DiVincenzo of Northampton, Mass.; one 
son, John DiVincenzo of Livonia; one sister, Dolores Scura of 
Mt. Morris.

CORNING | Neil G. Dobson, 59, of Taft Road, Painted Post, died 
Sunday, March 24, 2002 at Corning Hospital.
He served as a helicopter crew chief with the U.S. Army during 
the Vietnam War and worked in trucking for the Howard Delivery 
Company before retiring in 1998.
Survivors include, his wife Dawn Dobson of Painted Post; two 
daughters, Belinda Dobson and Melissa Dobson; a son, Jason 
Dobson; three sisters, Glenda Merrill, Karen Dobson and Nancy 
Congdon; three brothers, Olin Dobson, Carl Dobson and Brian 
Dobson.

Sunday, April 28, 2002 at St. James Mercy Hospital.

three sons, Bryan Dodge, Joel Dodge, both of Arkport and Mark 
Dodge of Hornell.

ELKLAND, PA. | Dr. Eleanor Larson Donley, 97, of 217 W. Main 
St. died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at home after a long 
illness.
She practiced medicine for 64 years until her retirement at 
age 91.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Holland of Watkins 
Glen, N.Y. and Nancy Singleton of Warren.
There will be no calling hours.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Home, formerly of Elkland, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2002 at 
home.
She had been a homemaker.

He was a retired plumber and heating contractor.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marcia Driggins; a 
daughter, Joyce Ann Hanford; two sons, Augustine Thomas and 
John Lewis, Jr.; a brother, William M. Driggins.

Thursday, May 30, 2002 at Robert Packer Hospital.
He and his brother, Adrian, operated the Standard Dry Cleaning 
Co. in Corning, N.Y., retiring 
in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Driscoll; two daughters, 
Deborah Driscoll of Seneca Falls, N.Y. and Patricia Driscoll

Drive, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002.
He had been manager at Geneva Agway.

ELMIRA | Robert James Enderle, 41, of Horseheads, died Monday, 
April 1, 2002 at Arnot Odgen Hospital.
Survivors include his mother, Winnifred Mohr of Painted Post; 
a son, Robert Enderle Jr. of Syracuse and Desiree Enderle of 
Syracuse; two brothers, Brian Enderle and Mark Enderle; three 
half sisters, Rhonda Maine, Lynn Enderle and Jamie Enderle; 
two half brothers, Bob Enderle and Lee Enderle.
Arrangements are incomplete at Phillips Funeral Home, Corning. 
Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Gaines, Pa.



 William H. English Jr.
SAYRE, PA. | William H. English Jr., 48, of Covington, died 
Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
He worked as the general manager of Pizza Hut in Mansfield.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Hohn English; three sons, 
Brad Tower of Bayonne, N.J., William English of Lebanon and 
Matt Tower of Covington; a daughter, Amy Tower of Covington; 
his mother, Harriet “Faye” Priset; two brothers, Nick English 
of Morris and Les English of Wellsboro.
Calling hours are 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the New 
Covenant, Extension Street, Mansfield.
Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours 
at 3 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Rod Murray officiating. Burial 
will be in Gray Cemetery.

Monday, May 6, 2002 at Highland Healthcare Facility.
He was a forest worker for the the New York State Conservation 
Department until 1980.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Erskine; two daughters, Fay 
Herrnecker of Arkport, N.Y., and Bonnie George of Almond, 
N.Y.; a sister, Ruth Adams of Hornell, N.Y.; two brothers, 
Leslie Erskine of Ransomville, N.Y. and Donald Erskine of 
Almond, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Nancy Plank of Rochester, N.Y.
Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the

 Donald Maxwell Evans
ELMIRA | Donald Maxwell Evans, 71, of Horseheads, died 
Saturday, April 20, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira.
He owned Contractors Equipment Rental in Big Flats and had 
recently retired after 31 years there. He was also a veteran 
of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barbara F. Evans; a 
son, D. Shawn Evans of Horseheads; a daughter, M. Diane 
McAlinn of Elmira; three sisters, Beverly Coon of Horseheads, 
Marilyn Flemming of Maryland, Marlene Bishoff of Colorado; two 
brothers, Norman Evans of North Carolina, James Evans of 
Colorado.
Calling hours are 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 
Tuesday at Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads.
Services will be held there Tuesday at the conclusion of 
calling hours at 8 p.m., the Rev. Walter B. Funk officiating. 
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.



 Davoud  Fadaifard
BETHESDA, MD. | Davoud Fadaifard, 57, formerly of Corning, 
N.Y., died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at the National Naval 
Medical Center.
He was a physician and a businessman. He founded a medical 
clinic for low-income residents in the Dominican Republic. He 
also owned and operated Persian and Oriental rug galleries on 
Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, N.Y., and Market Street in Corning, 
N.Y. 
Survivors include his wife, Parvin Fadaifard of Virginia; 
three sons, Farshid Fadaifard of Boston, Amin Fadaifard and 
Naveed Fadaifard, both of Virginia; one daughter, Nikou 
Fadaifard of Virginia; six brothers; four sisters. 
Services will be held today in New York City and Washington, 
D.C.
Arrangements are by the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg, Va.



 Donovan L.  Fairbrother
ZEPHYRHILLS, FLA. | Donovan L. Fairbrother, 72, formerly of 
Avoca, died Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at home. 
He is a former food and concessions worker with carnivals in 
New York state.
Survivors include three brothers, Warren Fairbrother and Jack 
Fairbrother, both of Bath, N.Y., and Paul Fairbrother of 
Cohocton, N.Y.; four sisters, Laura Mehlenbacher of Wayland, 
N.Y., Juanita Hanson of Dundee, N.Y., Patricia Kimball of 
Bloomfield, N.Y., and Phyllis Mehlenbacher of Avon, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held in April. Veterans Cremation & 
Burial Society of Clearwater is in charge of arrangements.



 Francis K.  Fawcett 
HORNELL | Francis Kieran “Frank” Fawcett, 51, of 1190 Webbs 
Crossing Road, died Sunday, April 21, 2002 at St. James 
Hospital.
He had worked for the family business The Big Elms for 20 
years also as a sales representative for Sosmetal Corporation 
of Philadelphia, Pa., and as an assistant chef at the Hornell 
Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his parents, George and Janice Fawcett of 
North Hornell; two brothers, Arthur “Chuck” Fawcett of Las 
Vegas, N.V. and George “Mike” Fawcett of Rochester; a sister, 
Margaret Terry of North Hornell; his fiance, Laura Prete of 
Hornell.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Dagon Funeral 
Home, 38 Church St., Hornell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at 
St. Ann’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

HORNELL | Betsy O’Hern Fenti, 42, of 41 Bennett St., died 
Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at St. James Mercy Hospital.
She was an employee of the Hornell City School District.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Fenti; one brother, 
Michael O’Hern of Hornell; one sister, Heather “Teddi” O’Hern 
of Hornell.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 2 
p.m. Sunday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home Inc., 285 
Main St.
Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours 
at 2 p.m. Sunday, Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Burial 
will be in Hillside Cemetery, Canisteo.

ROCHESTER | Jessamine J. “Jess” Fenti, 79, of 22 Hart St., 
Hornell, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002 at Strong Memorial 
Hospital.
He had been employed for about 35 years at the former Erie 
Railroad, Erie-Lackawanna Railroad and Conrail as a trackman, 
foreman and a welder.
Survivors include his wife, Alvina Bechtel Fenti; three sons, 
James Fenti of Olean, Paul Fenti of Bolivar and David Fenti of 
Ardmore, Okla.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Ann’s Church. 
Arrangements are by Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church, St., 
Hornell.

CORNING | Mildred J. Ferguson, 92, of Green Meadows, Painted 
Post, formerly of Savona, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at 
Corning Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Delcy Bailey of Oakland, 
Calif., and Doris Thompson of Carrie, N.C.; one son, Samuel 
Ferguson Jr. of Rochester.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Seager Funeral Home, 
the Rev. Ron Huckabone officiating. Burial will be in Seamens 
Cemetery, Savona.
