OSWEGO -- Lyons T. Hunt, 57, a resident of 251 W. Sixth St., Oswego, died May 22, 2002, at Oswego Hospital after a short illness. Surviving are two sisters, Johann "Joan" McCann of Oswego and Charlene Weldin of Oswego; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

PULASKI -- Jeanne A. Jones, 75, of Halsey Road, Pulaski, died May 21, 2002. She was predeceased by her first husband, Erwin Babcock. Surviving are her husband, George; two daughters, Elaine Fisher-Sabrey of Pulaski and Mary Anne Letterman of North Syracuse; two sisters, Vivian Cornell and Eleanor Krol, both of Florida; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Neil R. Hughes

PHOENIX --Neil R. Hughes, 86, of county Route 57, Phoenix, died May 22, 2002. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor C.; two sons, Gerald C. of Phoenix and Lawrence D. of Syracuse; a sister, Rachel Locke of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

PULASKI -- Dean P. Moyer, 53, of state Route 11 South, Pulaski, died My 21, 2002. Surviving are his wife, Karyl J.; four daughters, Dawn M. Degarmo of Yuma, Ariz., Debbie M. Moyer and Kitryn J. Ellis, both of East Syracuse, and Lisa B. Hellenberg of Pulaski; three sons, Dean P. Jr. of Pulaski, Michael Wade of Charlotte, N.C., and Eric Wade of West Monroe; four sisters, Penny C. Cummings of Verona Center, Darla Moyer of Adams, Gloria and Mandi Moyer, both of Orchard Park; three brothers, Herb of Mexico, Louis of Lacona and Gary of Roanoke, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

CLAY -- Genevieve M. Calkins, 70, of Topsfield Lane, Clay, died May 23, 2002. Surviving are her husband, George W.; a daughter, Deandra E. Lohm of Hannibal; two sons, Dave of Franklin, N.H., and Douglas of Cicero; two sisters, Jane Baldwin of Fulton and Linda Watson of Cato; two brothers, Lee Hoag Jr. and Wayne Hoag, both of Cato; and eight grandchildren.

HASTINGS -- Joseph F. Yelle, 70, of Hastings, died May 22, 2002. Surviving are his wife, Mystery; two daughters, Mystie Yelle of Niagara Falls and Sandra Yelle of Naples, Fla.; a son, Robert Blanco of Newark, Del.; five sisters, Faith Horning of Parish, Velaura Brown of Constantia, Joyce Kinney of Mexico, Joanne Buss of Hastings and Gail Murtaugh of Baldwinsville; a brother, Floyd of Constantia; and three grandchildren.

SANDY CREEK -- Mina J. Taylor, 59, of Kehoe Road, Sandy Creek, died May 23, 2002. Surviving are her husband, Robert E.; four daughters, Donna White and Brenda Salisbury, both of Sandy Creek, Laurie Salisbury and Christine Cummings, both of Pulaski; two sons, Robert of Sandy Creek and Jerry of Pulaski; a sister, Christine Harper of Ogdensburg; three brothers, Richard and James Finley, both of Gouverneur and Charles Finley of Utica; a half brother, Donald Booth of Gouverneur; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

HANNIBAL -- David P. Carr, 47, of 802 Sixty Six Road, Hannibal, died May 22, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Surviving besides his parents are a son, Jamie Johnson of Fulton; a sister, Darlene (Tom)Gray of Middletown, Pa., five brothers, Bill (Dorothy) Carr, Tom (Joanne) Carr, Darell (Bobbi) Carr, his twin brother, Donald (Julie) Carr and Nick (Deanna) Call, all of Oswego.

James L. Scheirer

HANNIBAL -- James L. Scheirer, 58, a resident of 930 county Route 21, Hannibal, died May 23, 2002, at University Hospital, Syracuse. Surviving are his wife Faith (Catalone); a daughter, Faith Cook of Hannibal; two sons, James J. and Ken C. Scheirer, both of Oswego; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert S. and Edward C. Scheirer.

CENTRAL SQUARE -- Richard Hanson, 43, of North Main Street, Central Square, died May 26, 2002. He was predeceased by his father, Robert St., in 1987; and his mother, Mary Lynn, in 1996. Surviving are two daughters, Heather Chappell of Syracuse and Shelby Hanson of Central Square; two sisters, Lynn Squires of Central Square and Theresa Engle of North Syracuse; and six brothers, Robert J. and Alan, both of Central Square, James and Christopher, both of Hastings, and Timothy and David, both of West Monroe.

LACONA -- Ruth L. Thurston, 64 of Harwood Drive, Lacona, died May 27, 2002. Surviving are three daughters, Terry Thurston and Eva Tibbles, both of Lacona, and Evaleen Holder of Pulaski; seven sons, Morris of Altmar, Raymond of Boylston, Clifford of Sandy Creek, Albert and Stanley, both of Lacona, Irving of Pulaski and Gavin of Syracuse; three sisters, Caroline Gilcrest of Syracuse and Linda Allen and Sandra Fletcher, both of Lacona; a brother, Norman of Lacona; 30 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

CAMILLUS -- George D. Basile, 91, of Camillus, died May 26, 2002. Surviving are his wife, Rose; two daughters, Sandra Riccelli of Camillus and Grace Fresina of Oswego; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

MEXICO -- William R. Bailey, 65, of 301 Lee Road, Mexico, died May 26, 2002, at his home. Surviving are a daughter, Karen A. (Jon) Halgren of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Douglas E. (Kelly) Bailey of Mexico; three sisters, Shirley Hammond of Cicero, Patricia Carson of Oswego; and Connie Pierce of Florida; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and his companion, Mona Weaver of Sandy Creek. OSWEGO -- Irene M. Murray, 83, a former resident of Johnson Road, Oswego, died May 27, 2002, at Loretto Heights Nursing Home. She is survived by several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Harry Coy, in March 2002.

FULTON -- Inez A. Walker, 52, of Fulton, died May 18, 2002, at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton. Walker is survived by a daughter, Christine Pickard, of Tenn.; three sons, Gregory Pickard of Fair Haven, Brad Pickard of Tenn. and David Walker of Fulton; four sisters, Nina Regan of Fulton, Mavis DeMott of Hannibal, Maureen Walker of Calif. and Sheila Walker of Minnetto; four brothers, Robert Walker of Fla., Ronald Walker of Fla., Kelvin Walker of Fulton and Scott Walker of Fulton; and three grandchildren. CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Mary V. Loschiavo, 75, of Chandler, Ariz., died May 22, 2002. Loschiavo is survived by her husband Charles, also a retired teacher from Oswego now living in Chandler; by her daughters Christine Puzauskas of Tempe, Ariz., Meg Goss of Madison, Wis.; and sons Joseph, of Chesterfield, Va., Charles, of Doylestown, Pa. and Tom, of Chandler, Az.

Herbert L. Smith Sr.

HANNIBAL -- Herbert L. Smith Sr., 91, a former resident of Rikers Beach, Hannibal, died May 28, 2002, at St. Luke's Health Services. He was predeceased by his first wife, Anna Marie Cook, in 1976; and by his second wife, Grace McCracken, in 2001. Surviving are a daughter, Morretta (Charles) Demm of Oswego; five sons, John C. Smith of Mississippi, Herbert L. Smith Jr. of Sterling, William L. Smith of Williamstown, Wayne R. Smith of Oswego, and Warren J. Smith, of Baldwinsville; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Lawrence Thomas, 55, a former resident of Oswego, died May 18, 2002, in Marietta, Ga. Surviving are his wife, Nancy; his children, Lynn Hendrickson, Amy Thomas and Eric and Andrew Thomas, all of the Oneida area; a stepdaughter, Cinthia Frederick of Massachusetts; his father of Oswego; a brother, Robert of Oswego; two sisters, Barbara Snyder of Interlaken and Joyce Brandano of Oswego; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Lowell Thomas.

Elwyn L. Kyle

MARTVILLE -- Elwyn L. Kyle, 82, of Route 104, Martville, died May 26, 2002. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian, in 1998. Surviving are two daughters, Judy Kyle of Port Byron and Joyce Delyani if Merrimack, N.H.; a son, Leo of Hannibal; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

MEXICO -- Kameron J. Marks, infant son of Katelin Marks and Brandon Ellis of Pumphouse Road in Mexico, died May 26, 2002. He was born in Syracuse. Surviving, besides his parents, are a half-brother, Jordan Ellis of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; his paternal grandmother, Rya Ellis of Mexico; his maternal grandparents, Phillip and Karlene Marks of Mexico; his paternal great-grandmother, Elizabeth Johnson of Palermo; his maternal great-grandfather, Hadwen Hinman of Mexico; and his maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Marks of Mexico.

WATERTOWN -- Kenneth C. Jewett, 91, a former resident of Watertown, died May 28, 2002, at St. Luke Health Services, Inc. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence (Miller) Richard, in 1988. Surviving are three stepdaughters, Ruth Cerklivich of Scriba, F. Patricia Brandstetter of Auburn and Jane Pauldine of Liverpool; and a sister, Helen Jewett of Dallas, Texas.
