KATHERINE FOLINO Warwick, N.Y. Katherine Folino of Warwick, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, in the Orange County Residential Health Care Facility, Goshen. She was 86. The daughter of the late Thomas and Concetta Amelia Folino, she was born March 9, 1914, in Italy. She was a member of St. Stephen Church, Warwick; and the Court of St. Anne Chapter 909, Catholic Daughters. Survivors include two sisters, Theresa Cassanite and Raffles Grillo, both of Warwick; her sister-in-law, Janet Folino of Warwick; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in St. Stephen Church, Warwick. Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery. DORA DiVEGLIO Blooming Grove, N.Y. Dora DiVeglio of Blooming Grove, a homemaker and 25-year resident of the area, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in Horton Medical Center, Middletown. She was 90. The daughter of the late Anthony and Teresa Selazzo Tozzi, she was born Oct. 30, 1910, in the Bronx. She was the widow of Joseph A. DiVeglio. Survivors include one son, Robert J. DiVeglio and his wife, Susan of Blooming Grove; two granddaughters, Valerie McCollum and Amanda DiVeglio; two great-grandsons, Tyler McCollum and Connor McCollum; and several nieces. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in Seamanville Cemetery, Monroe. The Rev. Michael Martine will officiate. HENRIETTE WINANS Warwick, N.Y. Henriette Winans of Warwick, a homemaker and 13-year resident of the area, entered into rest, Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at home. She was 82. The daughter of Karl and Barbara Wagner Jung, she was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Bamberg, Germany. She was the widow of Glenn E. Winans. Survivors include two daughters, LaDonna Houston and her companion, Melvin Cohen of Warwick, and Sherry Farr of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Jamie Woolsey and her fiance, Matthew Purdy, Michael Weaver and Cory Farr. She was predeceased by one grandson, Jason Weaver. There will be no visitation. Burial will take place in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colo. MARIA SCIORTINO Clintondale, N.Y. Maria Sciortino of Clintondale, an office manager working at H.L. Green Company Stores in New York City, 25-year resident of the area and former resident of Harriman, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in the Sylcox Health Care Facility in Newburgh. She was 88. The daughter of the late Thomas and Anita LaManna Sciortino, she was born March 1, 1912, in New York. She was a member of St. Charles Church, Gardiner; and the Plattekill Senior Citizens. Survivors include many nieces, nephews, greatnieces and greatnephews. She was predeceased by four brothers; and three sisters. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Copeland Funeral Home, 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in St. Charles Church, Gardiner. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Gardiner. WILHELMINE "MINNIE" GLODDE Eldred, N.Y. Wilhelmine "Minnie" Glodde of Eldred, retired owner/operator of H.E. Glodde Engineering in Eldred and 45-year resident of the area, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, in the Walnut Mountain Health Care Center, Liberty. She was 94. The daughter of the late Herman and Amalia Lentzen Halfmann, she was born June 23, 1906, in Hahn, Germany. She was the widow of Herman E. Glodde, who died Aug. 17, 1988. Survivors include one greatniece, Sandra Halfmann of Eldred; and one greatnephew, Hans Halfmann of West Bend, Wis. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. today, Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Route 97, Barryville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Saturday, Dec. 2, at the funeral home. The Rev. Douglas Lee will officiate. Burial will be in Montoza Cemetery, Eldred. LOUISE E. TOMPKINS Modena, N.Y. Louise E. Tompkins of Modena, a homemaker, resident of Modena since 1991 and former resident of Peekskill, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in the Hallmark Nursing Home in New Paltz. She was 96. The daughter of the late Patrick and Barbara Hoffman Burchetta, she was born Dec. 16, 1903, in Mt. Vernon. She was the widow of Howard Tompkins, who died in September 1981. Mrs. Tompkins was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Modena. Survivors include one son, Ralph Tompkins of Ellenton; one daughter, Patricia Marschall of Modena; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one niece. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at the Copeland Funeral Home, 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mahopac Falls Cemetery. MARY A. MAYO BROWN Newburgh, N.Y. Mary A. Mayo Brown of Newburgh, a certified surgical technologist at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, in Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla. She was 43. The daughter of Donald and Gladys Kessler Mayo of Vacaville, Calif., she was born April 3, 1957, in Vallejo, Calif. She was a member of the Association for Surgical Technologists. Survivors include her husband, Walter H. Brown Jr., at home; one son, Jarrott Brown of Newburgh; two daughters, Tara Conklin of New City and Semia Brown of Haverstraw; three brothers, Fred Mayo of Fremont, Calif., Donald Mayo of Fairfield, Calif. and Andrew Mayo and his wife, Toni of Grass Valley, Calif.; one sister, Debra Fredericks of Vacaville, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 76 First St., Newburgh. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the church. BERNICE D. PORTZ Hurley, N.Y. Bernice D. Portz of Hurley, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in the Albany Avenue Manor. She was 72. The daughter of the late Elisha and Mary Keogan Dean, she was born July 20, 1928, in Ellenville. She was the widow of Walter E. Portz, who died Feb. 27, 1994. Mrs. Portz was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer; Hurley Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; and the Hurley Senior Citizens. Survivors include one daughter, Anna Mary Portz of Alexandria, Va.; one son, Edward J. Portz of Kingston; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Dean Smith and Clara Eck. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Keyser Funeral Service, Kingston Chapel, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. The Rev. Cameron Coe will officiate. Interment will take place in Grahamsville Rural Cemetery. HELEN FILIPOWSKI Pine Island, N.Y. Helen Filipowski of Pine Island, a homemaker, retired farmer and longtime resident of the area, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, in Schervier Pavilion, Warwick. She was 91, The daughter of Konstanty and Marianna Chizynska Baronowski, she was born March 2, 1909, in Jersey City, N.J. She was the widow of Adam Filipowski. Mrs. Filipowski was a member of St. Stanislaus Church; St. Stanislaus Living Rosary Society; and the P.L.A.V. Ladies Auxiliary, Pine Island. Survivors include two sons, George Filipowski and his wife, Dorothy Ann and Edward Filipowski and his wife, Pat, all of Warwick; one sister, Nellie Temmplin of Mahwah, N.J.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, John Filipowski. Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 690 County Route 1, Pine Island. GLADYS L. YOUNGER Ellenville, N.Y. Gladys L. Younger of Ellenville, a 35-year resident of the area, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in Kingston City Hospital, Kingston. She was 82. The daughter of the late Jack and Mary Poindexter, she was born May 20, 1918, in Stotesbury, W. Va. She was a member of New Testament Church of Jesus Christ, formerly the Church of Jesus Christ. She was the Mother of the church; served on the Usher Board; Missionary Department; Sunday School teacher; Pastor's Aid Committee; adult choir member; member of the Board of Trustees; and a faithful tither and giver to the church. In the community, she was a grandmother to many children, including the Ellenville Head Start program. Survivors include five sons, William and Ronald Holland of Jacksonville, N.C., Albert Younger of Kerhonkson, Edward Younger of Norwalk, Conn. and the Rev. Raymond Younger of Ellenville; two daughters, Brenda Daniels of Queens and Alma Brown of Oxon Hill, Md.; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one daughter, Teresa Younger. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 21 Canal St., Ellenville. GLENN R. WILLIAMS Matamoras, Pa. Glenn R. Williams of Matamoras, a retired brakeman and freight conductor for Erie Lackawanna Railroad, Port Jervis and lifelong resident of the area, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at home. He was 68. The son of Glendon A. and Elizabeth Brown Williams, he was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Matamoras. Mr. Williams was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras; Marsch-Kellogg American Legion Post, Milford, Pa.; and Mountain Laurel VFW Post, Milford. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Stauffer Williams, at home; one son, Glendon F. Williams and his wife, Christine of Milford; one daughter, Jill Giovanniello and her husband, Dominic of Matamoras; one brother, Gary Williams and his wife, Lynn of Mill Rift, Pa.; four grandchildren, Alexina and Angela Giovanniello and Peter and Georgana Williams; one stepson, James Poston and his wife, Lorraine of Glen Spey; two stepdaughters, Jill O'Neill of Matamoras and Pamela Bell and her husband, Ken of Mill Rift; seven stepgrandchildren, Alexandria Poston, Aimee O'Neill, Joshua Poston, Erika Poston, Adrian Poston, Connor Bell and Austin Bell; and six nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepmother, Gertrude Slater Williams, who raised him from a young child.
