DUZEN - Rev. Norman William

Age 74, died unexpectedly December 8, 1997, at a local hospital. He was born March 4, 1923 at Buffalo, NY; the son of Norman W. and Anna (Cody) Duzen. He was a graduate of Elmhurst College and Yale Divinity School. He served St. James, St. Paul's and St. Mark's United Churches of Christ in Buffalo, NY, Catasauqua, Penn and Downeast Maine for fifty years. In addition to his ministries he was active in both urban and rural community service. Rev. Duzen was known in the community for his love of history, reading, a good story, his grandchildren and his affection for Downeast Maine and its people. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth A. Duzen; three daughters, Kathryn Ward of Buffalo, NY, Marsha Stamper of San Antonio, TX and Patrisha Towle of South Berwick; four grandchildren, Nathan Wallace, Alexandra Stamper, Parker and Jackson Towle; also surviving is one brother, William Duzen of Buffalo,NY. He was predeceased by a son, Norman W. Duzen III and a brother Duzen. Visiting hours will be 6-8 PM Thursday at the GARDNER-HALL FUNERAL HOME, 6 Cooper St., Machias.
