Staff Sargent Bivolcic was awarded Soldier of the Year by the Secretary of Defense in 1996 for Fort Benning, Georgia. He was inducted into the Audy Murphy Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas plus additional accolades for exceptional military leadership and performance.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sylvia (Kornmehl) Mintz, devoted children, Esther Wolfisch and Alvin Mintz; beloved grandchildren, Terry (Andrew) Wolfisch, Lisa (Fredrik) Nyman, Jodi Mintz and Todd Mintz.
