Maryann was a past teacher of music and religion at Mount St. Joseph's Academy, where she was awarded Teacher of the Year. A high school yearbook was dedicated to her. Maryann also performed outreach work as a Pastoral Assistant for Catholic Charities. Who retired in 1975 as assistant general manager of Bethlehem Steel's Lackawanna Plant, died Sunday, June 3, 2001 in Freedom Village, Bradenton, FL., after a long illness. He was 89. Born in Madison, NJ, Squier graduated from Lehigh University in 1935 with a degree in electrical engineering. He began working at Bethlehem Steel in 1935, where he held several positions until he retired in 1975 as assistant general manager. He lived in Hamburg before moving to Florida in 1985. He was a deacon and elder at Hamburg Presbyterian Church, and he served on the boards of directors of Our Lady of Victory Hospital, Wanakah Country Club and Friendship House in Lackawanna. Squier was active in the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers. He also enjoyed fishing and wood carving, specializing in carving bird replicas. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Ruth Heyl; a daughter, Carol Kiener of Hamburg; two sons, Robert C. of Hamburg and David L. of New Canaan, CT; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
