JEHLE - James J., November 8, 2000, of Boston. Husband of Mary Anne Jehle (nee Kief); brother of the late Lorraine (Leo) Conrad; brother-in-law of L. Ronald (Mary Louise) Kief; also survived by many nieces and nephews. ROGERS - Lyle R. "Pete," November 9, 2000, of West Valley. Husband of Betty M. Rogers (nee Thurston); father of L. Rodney Rogers and Gerald L. WULF - Nelson H. "Buzz," 72, of Valrico, Florida, November 8, 2000. Husband of Doris; father of Todd Wulf of Cattaraugus; Vicki Mrowka of Cattaraugus, Cindy Brown of Brandon, Fla., and Bobbie Jo Heim of Clover SC; brother of Alvin Wulf of Cattaraugus, James Wulf of Little Valley, Robert Wulf of Springville, Anna Ives of West Valley and Wanda Dry of Little Valley; also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to any Hospice organization. Mr. Wulf was a native of Cattaraugus and had resided in Valrico for a year. He established and operated Lazee Acres in Otto, and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. 

WURTZ - Martha M. (nee Emerling), age 102, November 7, 2000, of Boston. Wife of the late Linus M. Wurtz; mother of Janet Wurtz, Rosemary (late Robert) Schwartz, Francis (Ann) Wurtz and Patricia (late James) Tanner; grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister of the late Caroline Geiger, Senna Riehle, Anna Spengler, Rose A. Eder, Philip and Carl Emerling. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Boston. Mrs. Wurtz was a member of the Boston Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and St. John the Baptist Altar and Rosary Society. Frank J. Randall
Frank J. Randall, a retired local plumber, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2000 at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home, Springville. He had celebrated his 102nd birthday on Nov. 3.
Born in Ellicottville, Frank met his future wife at the Borden Condensery where they both worked. He and Dorothy J. Gerwitz were married on Jan. 8, 1924 at St. John the Baptist RC Church in West Valley.
Frank started the Randall Plumbing business in 1950 in Springville, retiring in 1965. His son, Robert, joined him in 1951, taking over the helm when Frank retired. Previously, Frank had worked for Smith Bros. Plumbing in Hamburg. At that time he also operated a small dairy farm on New Oregon Road in North Collins. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Hamburg Council #2220.
Survivors in addition to his wife are three sons, Paul J. and Richard J., both of Springville, and Robert G. of East Concord. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Dorothy Shaffer.
Prayers were said Saturday morning, Nov. 11, at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main St., Springville at 10 o'clock, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Aloysius Church, Springville, at 10:30. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Ellicottville.

Lyle H. Grigsby
Lyle Howard Grigsby, 50, of Oswego passed away suddenly November 10, 2000.
Born in Port Allegany, Pa. on December 2, 1949, he was a son of William and Louise Klein Grigsby of Springville.
He graduated from Marianville High School and Pittsburgh Technical Institute, and married Rita Jean Campbell of Delevan on July 24, 1987.
Mr. Grigsby was employed by Corning Glass, but moved to Springville during a serious illness. He moved back to Oswego and worked as an electrical designer for Bhlack Clawson in Fulton.
He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, an avid hunter and fisherman, and also loved gardening and carpentry.
Survivors in addition to his wife and parents are sons, Howard A. and Sean P. of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Lacey Marie of Corning; stepsons, Marty, Robert and Steven; three brothers, Mark of Springville, Daniel of West Valley and William of Warren, Pa.; one sister, Cheryl Lynn Crossan of Springville; two granddaughters, Michelle and Ashleigh; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, Inc., 271 East Main Street, Springville. The Rev. David C. Derk officiated. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, Spring- ville.

Lynn M. Dzwigal
Services were held Saturday for Lynn M. Dzwigal, 34, who died Wednesday, November 8, 2000 in Erie County Medical Center of injuries suffered in a car accident early Sunday morning, November 5.
She and her husband, Kevin, owned Emil's Red Lantern restaurant in Glenwood, where she was known for her warmth and good-hearted personality. She recently sponsored a fund-raising walk for breast cancer research.
The former Lynn Beicke, a Glenwood resident, attended Lancaster High School.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Jessica Lynn; two sons, Adam Paul and Patrick Emil; her parents, Edward and Sharon Beicke of Lancaster; and four brothers, Mark Beicke of Ohio, Matthew Beicke of Depew, Scott Beicke of Colden and Keith Beicke of Lancaster.
Services were held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elma.

BARTZ - William F., of Springville, November 19, 2000. Theran H. Gilbert
Theran H. Gilbert, 76, of Midland, Michigan, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2000 at Mid Michigan Medical Center.
The son of the late William and Daisy (Warner) Gilbert, he was born in Centerville, NY on Jan. 18, 1924, where he was raised and educated.
Mr. Gilbert had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a trackman, then worked at Kolk Industries for 25 years.
He married the former Juanita Robinson in Franklinville on March 15, 1963. They lived in Collins Center and Gowanda prior to moving to Midland in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita; two sons, James of South Carolina and Kerry (Elaine) of Sterling, Va.; three daughters, Darlene Gilbert of California, Coliss Strohauer of Gowanda, and Lorraine Watson of Kentucky; a stepdaughter, Cynthia (William Kruper) Rand of Sanford; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother Charles Gilbert of Salamanca; a sister, Ruth White of Salamanca. He was predeceased by a brother, Harlan.

Anthony A. Tolan
Anthony A. "Tony" Tolan , 65, of Springville and Venice, Fla., a retired Erie County Sheriff's Captain and the last chief of police of the village of Springville, died November 22, 2000 in Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Hospice care after a long illness.
Tolan was a life-long resident of Springville. He graduated from Springville-Griffith Institute, after which he spent four years in the Air Force in the Air Police, spending two and one-half years in Europe. He attended Brooklyn City College, Purdue University, and graduated from Erie Community College.
He joined the Erie County Sheriff's Department where he was appointed to the criminal division highway patrol. He was promoted to investigator in the Criminal Investigation Division.
In 1966, Tolan became chief of police of the village of Springville. At the time of his appointment, he was the youngest chief of police in New York state. In 1967, he spent a year in Burlington, Vermont, where he was a security supervisor in the Armament Division at General Electric.
Returning to Springville, he again took up his job as chief of police. He remained in that position until the village merged with the Erie County Sheriff's Department. He was a captain in charge of records and communications in Police Services, and retired in 1982.
He was a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, New York State Association of Chiefs of Police, Erie County Association of Chiefs of Police, Western New York Association of Retired Police, and the American Legion, Springville. He was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springville.
He enjoyed cooking, entertaining, traveling and vacationing in both Venice, Fla. and Bobcaygeon, Ontario.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, the former Mary Ellen Harrington; a daughter, Carla Roetzer; son-in-law Jack Roetzer; and granddaughter, Kiersten Anne Roetzer.
A Mass of Remembrance was offered Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock from St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Springville. The Rev. John Kwiecien, the Rev. William Staebell and the Rev. Nor- bert Orsolitz officiated.
