Frank E. Amirault, Sr.
Tuftonboro-----Frank E. Amirault, Sr., 80, of 180 Middle Road and formerly of Gilmanton died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Thursday, June 7, 2001. Mr. Amirault was the widower of Eleanor (McCluskey) Amirault who died in 1985.
Mr. Amirault was born October 8, 1920 in Chelsea, MA, the son of George & Levinan Mary (Surrette) Amirault. He served in the US Army during WWII. In 1979 he moved to Gilmanton, NH from Lowell, MA. He resided in Tuftonboro for the last three years. He was an encapsulator for National Power in Belmont for many years, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Amirault was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church of Laconia and a former member of the St. John's Episcopal Church of East Boston, MA.
Survivors include a son, George L. Amirault of Byhalia, Mississippi; three daughters, Eleanor Clapp of Trenton, South Carolina, Nancy Amirault of Lowell, MA and Joan Pong of Laconia, NH; 19 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Frank E. Amirault, Jr. who died November 16, 2000.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 AM at St. James Episcopal Church, 876 North Main Street, Laconia. Rev. Jonathan MacKenzie, rector of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in Smith Meeting House Cemetery, Gilmanton, NH.

Christopher R. Batchelder
Belmont----Christopher R. Batchelder, 83, of 401 Darby Drive, Belmont, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, Monday, June 25, 2001.
Mr. Batchelder was born April 8, 1918 in Keene, the son of Harold and Florence (Ball) Batchelder. He lived in the Lakes Region for many years and in Spring Hill, Fla. for 18 years.
Mr. Batchelder served 5 years on active duty in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific Theater and also served 28 years in the reserves with the 197 Construction Battalion. He was a member of The Retired Officiers Assoc. (TROA).
Mr. Batchelder was employed by Arthur Whitcomb, Inc. of Keene for 43 years and served as plant manager of the Tilton Sand and Gravel, Inc.
Mr. Batchelder was a member of the Spring Hill Congregational Church in Fla. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 49 of Tilton, Franklin Elks, VFW Post of Franklin and a member and past president of the NH Good Roads Assoc. and past King Lion of the Tilton Lions Club.
He was an avid fisherman and had a charter boat on Lake Winnipesaukee.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Jean (Williams) Batchelder of Belmont; several counsins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 brothers and a sister Ralph Batchelder, Hugh Batchelder, Clarence Batchelder and Martha Abare.
There are no calling hours.
Services will be held at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, Friday, June 29, 2001 at 11:00 AM using the Carriage House entrance. The Rev. George Hankins-Hull, Spiritual Care Coordinator of the Lakes Region General Hospital will officiate. Burial will be held on Saturday June 30, 2001, at Grafton Center Cemetery, Grafton, at 11:00 AM.

Hugh A. Bennett
Laconia-------Hugh A. Bennett, 66, of 5 Gilman Street, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Wednesday, June 20, 2001. He was the widower of Jean M (Minge) Bennett who died in 1997.
Mr. Bennett was born in British Guyana, February 11, 1935 the son of Oscar and Clarine (Lam) Bennett. In 1969, Mr. Bennett moved to Laconia from Gorham, NH. He was a Professor of Social Sciences for 29 years and retired in 1997 from N. H. Vocational Technical College in Laconia. In April of that year, The Bennett Library at the school was dedicated in his honor. Mr. Bennett was naturalized as an American Citizen in 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Troy Bennett of Atlanta, Georgia and Van Bennett of Concord, NH; a daughter, Camille Sousa of Santa Barbara, CA; three grandchildren, Alexander Bennett of Laconia, NH; Ashton Bennett of Georgia and Lauren Sousa of California; two brothers, George Bennett of Manchester, NH and Neville VanAalst of Plymouth, NH and three sisters, Sheila Johnson of Dover, NH and Zandra Boram and Myrna Bates both of Florida; his fiancee, Susan Morrill of Laconia; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, William Chung.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 24, from 1-3 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM following the calling hours at the funeral home. Rev. George Hankins-Hull, Spiritual Care Coordinator at Lakes Region General Hospital, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Hugh's name to New Hampshire Community Technical College, 379 New Prescott Hill Road, Laconia, NH 03246. Laconia-----H. Dale Collins, 85, of 235 Wellington Drive, died in Laconia, on Wednesday, June 13, 2001.
Mr. Collins was born November 15, 1915 in Hosterman, W. Virginia, the son of Adam H. and Lillie (Lambert) Collins.
Mr. Collins moved from Melrose, MA to Laconia, NH in 1983. He was employed by the A&P Grocery Store, Boston, MA. for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie H. (Miezwa) Collins of Laconia, NH.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday June 19, 2001 at 11:00 AM in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose, MA.

Laconia------Amedee H. Decelles, 94, of 406 Court Street and formerly of 55 Merrimac Street, died at the St. Francis Home on Monday, June 4, 2001. He was the widower of Alice (Smith) Decelles who died in 1987. They had been married for 58 years.
Mr. Decelles was born January 25, 1907 in Laconia, NH the son of Joseph A. & Ida (Labrecque ) Decelles. He was a life time resident of Laconia. He was a carpenter for W. M. Bisson & Son for 40 years, retiring in 1970.
Mr. Decelles was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Survivors include a son, Leon Decelles of Laconia; two daughters, Anna Hancock of Laconia and Theresa G. Gagne of Gilford; 9 grandchildren, Michael Decelles, Diane Rogers, Kim O'Neil, Daniel Hancock, Steven Hancock, Marc O. Gagne, Jean Pierre Gagne, Martin Gagne, Eric Gagne; 6 great grandchildren; three sisters, Rachel Archibald and Dorothy Stevens both of Laconia and Rita Deroy of Belmont; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, George Decelles and Joseph Decelles and a sister, Marianna Allard.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 7-9 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave., Laconia on Friday at 10:00AM. Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia.

Laconia, NH-------Richard F. DeVarney, 83, of 50 Blueberry Lane, Laconia died at Hospice House in Concord, NH on Wednesday, June 6, 2001.
Mr. DeVarney was born January 15, 1918 in Laconia, NH the son of the late Israel W. & Una M. (Smith) DeVarney.
Mr. DeVarney was a life time resident of Laconia and served in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a banker most of his life. He worked at the Lakeport National Bank, Meredith Village Bank - Ashland Branch, and retired in 1981 from the Laconia Savings Bank.
Mr. DeVarney was a former member of the Laconia Congregational Church. He was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks No. 876.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline M. (Labbe) DeVarney of Laconia, a son, Richard W. DeVarney of Portland, Maine, a step son, Donald H. Laliberte of Berkley, MA; a step daughter, Celeste Kidder of Concord, NH; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth D. Ackerman of Laconia, NH and a nephew and a grandniece. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine B. DeVarney, who died in 1969.
According to Mr. DeVarney's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.

Lynn Anita Edgerly
Belmont--------Mrs. Lynn Anita Edgerly, of 324 Brown Hill Road died at her home on Sunday, June 10, 2001.
Mrs. Edgerly was born, in Lewiston, Maine, the daughter of Asa L. & Leona L. Annie (Bush) Holt. Mrs. Edgerly was a long time resident of the Belmont/Laconia area. She was a graduate of Laconia High School. She was a Chapter 1 Tutor and classroom aide at Woodland Heights Elementary School in Laconia for the past 13 years.
Mrs. Edgerly enjoyed decorating her home with her unusual African collection. She also had a passion for the Amish people and would educate her students about them and their lifestyle whenever possible. Mrs. Edgerly also had a great love for the ocean. She enjoyed being with the children at Woodland Heights School very much. They inspired her to write the poetry she so much loved writing.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mark C. & Kim Edgerly of Belmont, a granddaughter, Kristi Edgerly of Belmont and two nieces and 2 nephews, Eileen Dunn of California, Lisa Dirck and her husband, Rick both of Dover, Stuart Dunn of Maine and Gary Dunn and his wife Denise both of Merrimack.
She was predeceased by her father in 1999, her mother in 1995 and a sister, Lorraine Dunn, in 1990.

Belmont------Henry Paul Ferland, Sr., 72, of 5 Silkwood Avenue, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia on June 10, 2001.
Mr. Ferland was born April 12, 1929 in Hardwick, Vermont, the son of Davila and Delina (Bisson) Ferland. He was a machinist at Franklin Brush Corp. for many years.
Survivors include his companion, Rebecca Perez of Belmont; 6 sons, Richard Ferland of Wisconsin, David Ferland of Franklin, NH, Roger Ferland of Laconia, NH, Randall Ferland of Meredith, NH, Henry Ferland, Jr. of Belmont, NH, Jeffery Ferland of Northfield, NH; a daughter, Diane Arcouette of Laconia, NH; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; four brothers, Patrick Ferland of Hardwick, Vermont, Ronald Ferland of Palm Beach, Florida, Lawrence Ferland of California, and Robert Ferland of Montpelier, Vermont; five sisters, Janette Tacey of Windsor, CT, Theresa Michaud of Windsor Locks, CT, Claire Burns of Providence, Rhode Island, Elaine Hill of Wolcott, Vermont and Yvette Ribquo of Florida; many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a daughter, Daniel Ferland who died May 16, 1995, three brothers, Eudore Ferland, Philip Ferland, and Raymond Ferland; and a sister, Marguerite Fournier.

James Patrick Guay
West Franklin---------James Patrick Guay, 62, of 31 North Main Street, died at his home of Sunday, June 10, 2001.
Mr. Guay was born January 11, 1939, in Laconia, NH, the son of Lawrence and Mary (Page) Guay.
Mr. Guay was the owner of the second hand shop, Pat's Pic & Paw. He enjoyed travelling and searching for "antiques" for his store. He was a very active member of AA where he enjoyed helping people for over twenty years.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Spooner of Belmont, NH, Susan Guay of Laconia, NH, Bonnie Flack of Gilmanton, NH and Jane Pillsbury of Gilford, NH; 7 grandchildren; a sister; and several nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2001 from 6-8 PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2001 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia, NH.

Alton Bay, NH----Mrs. Marguerite Faye Hollenbeck, 75, of Alton Bay and 8450 Danbury Lane, Hudson, Florida died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, NH on Saturday, June 9, 2001, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Hollenbeck was born April 19, 1926 in Washington, D. C. the daughter of Audley Anderson Peckover Savage and Winifred Maude (Austin) Savage. Mrs. Hollenbeck lived in Hamden, CT for 23 years before moving to Florida. She summered in Alton Bay, NH for 54 years.
Mrs. Hollenbeck was a member of the Kingswood Country Club in Wolfeboro, NH.
Survivors include her husband, William Phelps Hollenbeck of Alton Bay, NH and Hudson, Florida; two sons, Bruce Phelps Hollenbeck of Orefield, PA and Wayne Harmon Hollenbeck of Middletown, CT; a daughter, Leigh Carole Hewitt of Middletown, CT.; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Stomsky, A. Jay Hollenbeck and Shawn Hewitt; a sister, Mary Alice Wallace of Maryland; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers, Eric, Harold and John and one sister, Barbara.

Weirs Beach---Arthur G. Jones, 60, of 161 Hilliard Road, Unite #2, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia, Friday, June 22, 2001.
Mr. Jones was born August 26, 1940, in Campton, NH, the son of George and Violet (Vintinner) Jones. He had lived in the Lakes Region most of his life.
Mr. Jones had been employed at Allen-Rogers for 14 years, retiring in 1994. He was a former member of the Laconia Rod & Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife Georgeanne (Hunt) Jones of Weirs Beach; a step-son James Avery of Concord; a step-daughter Jo-Anne Avery of Middletown, N.Y.; a step-grandson James Dennis Avery of Concord; 3 brothers Robert Jones of Thornton; Oscar Jones of Stafford Springs, Conn. and Howard Jones of Winnisquam; 5 sisters Matilda Wright of Woodsville, Alice Nerison and Barbara Banfill both of Lakeport, JoAnn Fagnant of Meredith and Frances Powell of Tilton; several nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.

James R. Murgatroy, Jr.
Laconia-------James R. Murgatroy, Jr., 39, of 204 Messer Street, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Sunday, June 3, 2001.
Mr. Murgatroy was born November 13, 1961 in Laconia, the son of James R. and Shirley (Roubo) Murgatroy, Sr. He had lived in Laconia most of his life.
Mr. Murgatroy graduated from Laconia High School in 1979 and from the New Hampshire Vocational-Technical College, Laconia, in 1981. He had formerly been employed at Amatex Corp. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed water skiing.
Survivors include a son Jason Boulanger of Meredith, a daughter Randi Sue Reed of Laconia; a step-son Craig Reed of Meredith; his parents James R. and Shirley (Roubo) Murgatroy, Sr. of Laconia; 2 brothers Joseph Murgatroy of New Hampton and Jack Murgatroy of Gilford; 2 sisters Jane Harmon and Judy Daigneault both of Gilford; his grandmother Edna (Johnson) Murgatroy of Meredith; many nephews and nieces; several aunts and uncles, cousins and great aunts & uncles.

Norma Vittum Moulton
Laconia----Norma Vittum Moulton, 71, of 23 Messer Street, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 16, 2001.
Norma was born January 5, 1930 in Moultonborough, NH, the daughter of Alfred Otis and Dorathy (Dearborn) Vittum. She graduated from the Laconia Business School in 1948. She was a housekeeper in the Lakes Region for over 30 years. Norma loved animals and was an avid reader and gardener.
Her family includes a brother, Morton Vittum of Wells, Maine; four sons, John C. Moulton, Jeffrey A. Moulton, David A. Moulton, and Peter S. Moulton all of the Lakes Region; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two nieces and a cousin. She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Vittum, and a son, Steven A. Moulton.
There will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2001 at 1:00 PM in the family lot in Bean Cemetery, Moultonborough, NH.

Laconia-----Services for Joseph A. Moynihan, 75, of 12 Pendleton Road, Laconia will be held at the Columbarium at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, Friday, June 29, 2001 at 2:45 PM. Mr. Moynihan died at Hospice House in Concord on January 7, 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean, of Laconia; 4 sons, Dennis Moynihan of Centerville, MA, Brian Moynihan of Bedford, NH, Dermot Moynihan and Chantelle of Meredith, NH, and Sean Moynihan of Austin, Texas; three daughters, Priscilla (Fred) Gottwald of Stoneham, MA; Gail (Robert) DiGangi of Gilford, NH and Joanne Moynihan and Steve of Loudon, NH. he was the beloved grandfather of 10 grandchildren, Erin, Kirsten, Gretchen, Thomas and Daniel Gottwald, Anthony, Christopher and Robert DiGangi and Meaghan and Brendan Moynihan.

Las Vegas, Nevada------Robert E. Poire, 76, of Las Vegas and formerly of Laconia, NH and Gilford, NH, died in Las Vegas.
Mr. Poire was born July 17, 1924 in Laconia, New Hampshire, the son of Raymond G. & Jeanette (Lavoie) Poire.
Mr. Poire served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #1670 of Laconia.
Survivors include a son, Robert E. Poire, Jr.; three daughters, Stephanie, Karen and Robin; several grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gertrude P. Moody of Laconia, NH and Patricia Berry of San Antonio, Texas; several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Belmont, NH------Dennis L. Stone, 50, of 8 Pine Crest Drive, died at his home on June 11, 2001.
Mr. Stone was born November 22, 1950 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, the son of Bert H. & Lorraine C. (Munger) Stone.
Mr. Stone was a self-employed painter and woodworker. He had been a resident of Belmont, NH since 1996, coming from Texas. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include his mother, Lorraine C. Stone of Belmont; two daughters, Denise Kennett and Michelle Perkins both of Laconia, NH; five grandchildren, Justin Kennett, Brittany Kennett, Felicia Bixby, Hunter Perkins and Jorden Perkins all of Laconia, NH; two brothers, Bruce M. Stone of Belmont, NH and Roger J. Stone of Laconia; and a sister, Jennie Maheux of Belmont. He was predeceased by his father, Bert Stone in 1999.
