Roger Axford, Tempe; lifelong friend, Julius Lehfeldt.
Margaret and Gordon met while attending Nebraska Wesleyan University.
At Wesleyan, Gordon received his bachelor's degree, played football and
was a member of Phi Delta Kappa fraternity. He received his master's degree
from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and was a lifelong Cornhusker
fan. Margaret attended Wesleyan after graduating from Jackson High School
and received her bachelor's degree from what was Fresno State College in
California.
Throughout their 59 years of marriage their lives were dedicated to
education, public service and family. They were always active in school
and community activities. Their homes included: Hebron, Waco, Callaway,
Lincoln, Neb.; Exeter, Oakdale, Manteca, Williams, Strathmore, San Andreas,
and Selma, Calif.; Yuma, Ariz.
After fulfilling careers in education as teachers and administrators,
they retired in Selma. For their public service they shared honors as Citizens
of the Year in 1981, presented by the Selma District Chamber of Commerce.
