Daniel Riley Lawson
Daniel Riley Lawson, age 97, of Meadowbrook Terrace, Advance, N.C.
died Sunday January 4, 1998 at Meadowbrook Terrace. Mr. Lawson was born
in Surry County September 30, 1900 to James Riley and Sallie Samanthia
Atkins Lawson. He was retired from the grocery and wholesale produce business,
and was a member of Pilot Mountain Friends Church. Surviving are: his wife,
Ila Jackson Lawson, Meadowbrook Terrace, Advance, N.C.; two daughters and
son-in-law, Sylvia Crepeau, Shalimar, Florida; Nona and Robert L. McKee,
Birmingham, Alabama; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Barbara Lawson,
Clemmons, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. J. Ralph (Hallie) Lawson, Winston-Salem,
N.C.; six grandchildren - Pat Moser, Randy Lawson, Brad Lawson, Lynette
Crepeau, Mike Lawson, and Elizabeth McKee. Mr. Lawson was preceded in death
by one son J. Ralph Lawson, December 31, 1984. A graveside service will
be conducted Wednesday January 7, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Hill Friends
Meeting by Rev. Victor Murshison. The family received friends at the Cox-Needham
Funeral Home and Chapel in Pilot Mountain, N.C. on Tuesday evening from
7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Mary Madgeline Jackson Beck
Mrs. Mary Madgeline Jackson Beck, age 81, widow of Mr. Emmitt Roosevelt
Beck, of Route 3, Box 131-S, Pilot Mountain, N.C. died Friday evening,
January 2, 1998, at the N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. Mrs.
Beck was born in Forsyth County November 11, 1916 to Shubert Thomas and
Lillian Elizabeth Bunidist Jackson. She was a homemaker and a member of
Grace Baptist Church.
Rachel Virginia Nunn Cain
Mrs. Rachel Virginia Nunn Cain, age 88, widow of Mr. Joseph Franklin
Cain, of 4546 Salem Heights Avenue, Randleman, N.C. (formerly of Westfield,
N.C.) died early Friday morning January 2, 1998 at the Randolph Memorial
Hospital in Asheboro, N.C. Mrs. Cain was born in Surry County August 24,
1909 to Charles Ausband and Nancy Jane Pell Nunn. She was a homemaker and
a member of Tru-Way Baptist Church.
Ida Mae Sechrist Smith
Mrs. Ida Mae Sechrist Smith, age 97, widow of Mr. Peter Paul Smith
of (formerly of Westfield, N.C.) died Thursday, January 1, 1998 at Central
Continuing Care, Mount Airy, N.C. Mrs. Smith was born in Surry County September
23, 1900 to Joshua and Nancy Jane Joyce Sechrist. She was a homemaker and
of the Baptist Faith.
Malta Loggins Warren
Mrs. Malta Loggins Warren, age 82, widow of Mr. Reuben Columbus Warren,
of Route 4, Box 430, King, N.C. died Saturday morning, December 27, 1997,
at the J.R. Jones Medical Center in King, N.C. Mrs. Warren was born in
Stoke County November 15, 1915, to Thomas William and Hessie Rosella Tuttle
Loggins. She was a retired employee of Hanes Hosiery after 26 years of
service, and was a member of First Christian Church of King.
Earl Wifley Corns
Mr. Earl Wifley Corns, age 69, husband of Adie Mabe Phillips Corns,
of Rt. 2, Box 268, Westfield, N.C. died early Monday morning December 22,
1997, at the Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. after an
extended illness. Mr. Corns was born in Stokes County, July 18, 1928, to
the late Noel Harvey and Kate Hill Corns. He was a retired farmer and also
retired from Surry Industries after 29 years of service. He was a member
of Rescue Baptist Church.
