MAXTON -- Mrs. Lena C. Locklear died Thursday.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday today in Preston Gospel Chapel by the Rev. Bobby E. Locklear. Burial will be in the Locklear family cemetery.
Mrs. Locklear will be is survived by four daughters, Judy Murrell of Detroit, Alice F. Dial of Pembroke, and Sue Locklear and Clarice Locklear, both of Maxton; a son, Bobby E. Locklear of Maxton; a sister, Ada B. Oxedine of Maxton; a brother, Wilbert Cummings of Lumberton; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The public will be received tonight at 7 at Thompson Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Mrs. Lois P. Brown 
LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Lois Porter Brown, 47, of 1021 Shaw Street died Wednesday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted Monday at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. James F. Kelly. Burial will be in Matthew Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, John W. Brown of the home; two sons, Dean Brown of Laurinburg and Charles W. Brown of the home; two daughters, Evelyn J. Porter of Laurinburg and Shana Brown of the home; her parents, Mathis Porter and Pridie C. Porter, both of Maxton; a sister, Diane Dunn of Laurinburg; two brothers, Ivory Porter and Van Porter, both of Maxton; and three grandchildren.

PEMBROKE -- John E. Cummings, 77, of 324 South 710, died Wednesday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Elrod Baptist Church by the Revs. Coolidge Cummings, Gary Chavis, Bill J. Locklear and Bro. Brother Conelius Cummings. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements will be conducted by Thompson’s Funeral Home in Pembroke.
Mr. Cummings is survived by two daughters, Iris K. Cummings of Pembroke and Enid D.C. Begay of Antioch, Calif.; a son, John E. Cummings of the home; four brothers, Bonford Cummings and Baker Cummings, both of Pembroke, Coolidge M. Cummings and Hartford Cummings, both of Maxton; one sister, Cledy Sampson of Maxton; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Maitland D. Cummings 
PEMBROKE -- Mrs. Maitland D. Dimery Cummings, 67, of 324 South 710, died Wednesday in Scotland Memorial Hosptial in Laurinburg.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today by the Revs. Samuel M. Cummings, Bill J. Locklear, Gary Chavis and Brother Cornelius Cummings.
Mrs. Cummings is survived by two sisters, Anita L. Weaver of Pennsylvania and Carol Oxendine of Michigan; four brothers, Odgen Dimery of Pembroke, Carlton H. Dimery of El Paso, Texas, Charles Dimery of Pembroke and Richard Dimery of Pembroke; and two grandchildren.

Alice L. Steward 
SOUTHERN PINES -- Mrs. Alice Little Steward, 93, of Southern Pines died Friday at Moore Regional Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Aberdeen by the Rev. Charles S. Hinson. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.
Mrs. Steward is survived by a son, J.W. Robertson of Southern Pines; a sister, Ora Johnson of Tyler, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Vida B. Atkins 
Mrs. Vida B. Atkins, 97, of 7718 Lakeview St., Fayetteville, died Friday in Village Green Acre Care Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Cedar Falls Baptist Church by the Rev. Floyd Benfield.
She was a member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church and the Caring Sunday School Class at Cedar Falls Baptist the church.
Mrs. Atkins is survived by a son, George Calvin of Fayetteville; a sister, Virgie Godwin of Raleigh; two brothers, Avery Betts of Wilson and Odel Betts of Fuquay-Varina; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

CARTHAGE -- John H. Jones Jr., 42, of 260 Waynor Road died Thursday in Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Allison K. Jones of the home; his father John H. Jones Sr. of Southern Pines; three sons, John H. Jones III of Southern Pines, and Dwayne L. Jones and Ira S. Jones, both of the home; two daughters, Christina M. Jones of Southern Pines and Melody Jones of Southern Pines; a brother, George D. Jones of Carthage; three sisters, Reva J. Goins, Clara J. SPRING LAKE -- Retired Sgt. 1st Class Grover Lewis ”Jack” Boykin, 61, of 6850 North N.C. 210, died Friday in his home.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Fort Bragg, Lodge No. 666 in Spring Lake, the Scottish Rite Bodies, the Sudan Temple Shrine, American Legion Post No. 0230 and was the former owner of Ruby’s Florist in Spring Lake.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. T.J. Fulk. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park with full military honors and masonic rites.
Mr. Boykin is survived by his wife, Iva P. Boykin of the home; a daughter, Sheila B. Keen of Yelm, Wash.; his stepfather, Daylon Horton of Spring Lake; three half-sisters, Betty J. Cash, Linda Boykin and Very Wyers, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Shirley V. Snipes, 60, of 4907 Cumberland Road died Saturday.

SANFORD -- V.O. Wilson, 77, of 3645 Hwy N.C. 87 South died at Central Carolina Hospital.
He was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II and retired from the Civil Service.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Bridges-Cameron Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Gerald Bridges. Burial will be in Lee Memory Gardens.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Lillian B. Wilson; a son Donnie Wilson of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Mary Whittington on Kinston and Vada A. Lee of Florence, S.C.; a brother, Harrell Wilson of Searcy, Ark.; a sister, Edell Coleman of Searcy; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

BUIES CREEK -- Mrs. Annie B. McLeod, 91, of Buies Creek died Friday.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Buies Creek First Baptist Church by the Revs. Michael Simmons and John Rogers. Burial will be in the Buies Creek cemetery.
Mrs. McLeod is survived by a daughter, Joyce M. Weaver of Lilesville; nine grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Lillian E. Colley, 78, of 2448 Vandemere Avenue in Fayetteville died Friday in the Knollwood Retirement Home.
She was a member of the Jennie Gardners Sunday School Class, and a member of Gardners United Methodist Women.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Gardners United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mike Davis. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mrs. Colley is survived by a daughter, Clara S. Matthews of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

BRONX, N.Y. -- Terry Patterson, died Monday in Lincoln Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Kendrick Funeral Home in Southern Pines by the Rev. Roy McKoy. Burial will be in McGill Cemetery in Wagram.
Mr. Patterson is survived by his mother, Mary McFayden of Pinehurst; and two brothers, Tony Patterson and Leroy Patterson, both of Bronx.

George Arthur Capps, 84, of 6915 Gerhart St., Fayetteville, died Friday morning in the Carrolton of Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Rogers & Breece Funeral Home chapel by Bishop Joseph Catlett. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mr. Capps is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Osborne of Fayetteville; a son, Jerry R. Capps of Fayetteville; a sister, Vada Clayton of Durham; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Strickland is survived by two daughters, Barbara Woodell of Tabor City and Nellie Fowler of Loris, S.C.; a sister, Vivan McGill of Lexington, S.C.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Milton Freeman Lock, 62, of 6116 Regis Court, Fayetteville, died Thursday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted today at 1:30 p.m. in Lock’s Creek A.M.E. Zion Church by the Rev. Reginal Swann. Burial will be in McLaurin Cemetery in Vander. Arrangements are being handled by Wiseman Mortuary.

DUBLIN -- Mrs. Carrie Bordeaux Melvin, 87, of 712 Bethel Church Road died Saturday in her home.

Mrs. Melvin is survived by five sisters, Sara Suggs of Elizabethtown, Lannie McKee of Dublin, Rosa Wilson of Tar Heel, Margaret Sessoms of Elizabethtown and Ellen Bain of Newport News, Va.; four brothers, Tharp Bordeaux of Elizabethtown, Matt Bordeaux of Newport News, Va., Charlie Bordeaux of Elizabethtown and W.J. Bordeaux of Leland; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

RALEIGH -- Mrs. Mary Anna Sears Allen, 80, of Raleigh, died Friday in her home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Columbus Memorial Park by the Rev. Paul Woodall Jr. McKenzie Mortuary.
Among Mrs. Allen’s survivors is a brother, Eugene Sears of Whiteville.

Mrs. Emma R. Medlock 
ROSEBORO -- Mrs. Emma Ruhl Medlock, 84, of Route 3, Box 138, died Saturday in Mary Gran Nursing Center in Clinton.
A memorial service will be held today at 4 p.m. in Evergreen Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Honeycutt. Arrangements are being handled by Butler Funeral Home.
Mrs. Medlock is survived by her husband, James L. Medlock of the home; two daughters, Wynona C. Keel and Jacqueline White, both of Roseboro; a son, Leland P. Medlock of Clarksville, Texas; a brother, Phillip Ruhl of Warwick, N.Y.; a sister, Lena Ruby of Warwick; and five grandchildren.

SOUDERTON, Pa. -- Mrs. Sylvia J. Molettiere, 62, of Souderton, Pa., formerly of Autryville, died Friday in Grand View Hospital.

Mrs. Molettiere is survived by her husband, Anthony J. Molettiere of the home; a daughter, Ranai Cardillo of Harleysville, Pa.; two sisters, Bess Autry of Alabama and Ossie McLamb of Autryville; and a brother, S.J. Faircloth of Autryville.

Warren G. Hobbs Sr. 
DUNN -- Warren “Buddy” G. Hobbs Sr., of 2202 Dunn-Erwin Road, died Saturday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Church of God of Prophecy in Erwin by the Revs. Mike Johnson and Jerome Pope. The burial will be in Devotional Gardens.
Mr. Hobbs is survived by a son, Warren G. Hobbs Jr. of Dunn; two daughters, Ann Gilbert of Dunn and Martha Johnson of Dunn; a sister, Maybelle Baxter of Elkin; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

CLINTON -- Mrs. Emma Frances Jones Weeks, 74, of 9575 Keener Road, died Saturday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Garland, was retired from Hamilton Beach and was a professional nanny.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Grace Baptist Church in Garland by the Rev. Joe Sealey. Burial will be in Clinton City Cemetery.
Mrs. Weeks is survived by three sons, George E. Weeks, David J. Weeks and Timothy D. Weeks, all of Clinton; six daughters, Rosie M. Barts of Hampton, Va., Frances A. Oliver of Salemburg, Betsy E. Edwards of Roseboro, Virginia D. Weeks of Clinton, Mary R. Farmer of Clinton and Martha E. Scott of Asheboro; two brothers, Emmett D. Jones and David Jones, both of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Rachel McDiarmid and June Rice, both of Richmond; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Blue is survived by her son, Mike Blue of Cameron; two sisters, Jessie W. Winstead and Alice W. Garner, both of Sanford; two brothers, Johnny A. Waddell and Ted L. Waddell, both of Sanford; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Kasper is survived by two daughters, Bette Cox of Roseboro and Adelle Miller of Allentown, Pa.; five sons, Charles ”Butch” Davis of Roseboro, Edward ”Eddie” Davis of Fayetteville, Harold ”Ace” Davis of Lodi, Calif., Paul Kasper of Dunellen, N.J., and Joseph Kasper of Tamaqua, Pa.; two sisters, Margaret Piech of Coaldale, Pa., Anna Dietrich of Roseboro, two brothers, Joseph Englert of Newkirk, Pa., and Walter Englert of Tuscarora, Pa; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
