   Wells, Sidney Ray, 53, of Burgaw died Thursday at Pender Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Kelly. 
   
   ANN FARRAR TOLER WICKER POIRIER 
   Ann Farrar Toler Wicker Poirier, age 68, of Wilmington, NC, died Thursday, February 22, 2001 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a long battle with lung disease. 
   She was preceded in death by her parents, Ardry Toler and Annie Mae Farrar Toler West; her first husband, John S. Wicker (1974); a brother, Graham T. Toler; and a sister, June Toler Escher. 
   Mrs. Poirier was a member of the Old New Hanover Genealogical Society, the NC Genealogical Society, and was a charter member of the Better Breathers Club at Cape Fear Hospital. 
   Surviving is her very loving and caring husband, George A. Poirier, of the home; two sons, Robert E. (Robbie) Wicker and wife Laura of Kingsport, TN, and Scott Wicker and wife Debra of Baltimore, MD; one daughter, Dare Wicker O'Connor and husband John of Cary, NC; five grandchildren, Robert and Melissa Wicker of Kingsport, TN, Jason and Ryanne Wicker of Baltimore, MD and Johnny O'Connor of Cary, NC. She has three stepchildren, Debra Poirier Brown and husband Rick of San Antonio, TX, Stephen G. Poirier of Wilmington, NC, and Suzanne (Susie) Poirier Pierce and husband Gary of Melbourne Beach, FL; eight step grandchildren, David, Bobby, Nathan, and Alycia Brown of San, Antonio, TX, Brian and Gary Michael of Melbourne Beach, FL, and Brandon and Krystal Poirier of Wilmington, NC; and a very special niece, Alice June Toler of Wilmington, NC. 
   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2001 at Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel by Rev. Adrian Shepard. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens. 
   The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel.

   MRS. JUANITA WALKER WHALEY 
   WALLACE - Mrs. Juanita Walker Whaley, age 84, of 3260 NC Highway 11, South Teachey, died early Saturday morning February 24, 2001, at Cornelia Nixon Davis Healthcare Center in Porters Neck. 
   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 26, from the Island Creek Baptist Church of Teachey, conducted by Rev. Ronald Ginn. Burial follows in Clay Hill Cemetery. 
   She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Patsy Harrell and husband Ennis of Raleigh; three sons, Richard Whaley of the home, Dean Whaley and wife Marsha of Rose Hill, David Whaley and wife Ann of Wilmington; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Winnie Rivenbark of Wallace. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Mr. Norman Whaley. 
   A lifelong resident of Duplin County, Mrs. Whaley was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church of Rose Hill. 
   Casketbearers will be Steve Skinner, Chris Sholar, Craig Casteen, Andy Batchelor, Dave Whaley and R.J. Whaley. 
   The family will receive at Padgett Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and at their residence, 3260 NC Highway 11, South Teachey, other times.

   RALPH IRVING FREUDENBERGER 
   WILMINGTON, N.C. - Ralph Irving Freudenberger, 86, of Hidden Valley Road, died Thursday, February 22, 2001, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. 
   Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on De|cem|ber 11, 1914, he was a son of the late Harry J. and Ella Mae Zahneiser Freu|den|berger. Mr. Freudenberger was retired from the Flush Door Company as a Sales Manager and was a US Army WWII veteran. He also was a member of Winter Park Presbyterian Church and was a charter member of the American Legion of Carle Place, NY. 
   Survivors include his wife, Elinor Freudenberger; a son, Richard Scott Freudenberger and wife Fran Oates of Hendersonville, N.C.; a daughter, Susan Freudenberger of Port Jefferson, NY; a brother, Robert J. Freu|den|berger and wife Helen of Marlboro, NJ; a sister-in-law, Virginia Freudenberger of Stockbridge, MA; four grandchildren; and one-great-grandchild. 
   Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2001, in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorial services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Winter Park Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Matthew Highfill officiating.

   MRS. MARCELLA VARNAM BOWLING 
   SUPPLY - Mrs. Marcella Varnam Bowling, age 56, of 2730 Seashore Road, Supply, died Thursday, February 22, 2001, at the home of her mother. 
   Mrs. Bowling was born June 1, 1944, in Brunswick County and was the daughter of Retha Varnamof Supply and the late Ronnie Varnam. She was the wife of the late James P. Bowling and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Renne Bowling. 
   Survivors in addition to her mother include her son, James Dal Bowling of Supply; a grandson, James Pat|rick Bowling; two sisters, Mary Stanley of Shallotte and Kitty Caison of Supply. 
   Funeral services will be held Monday, February 26, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Supply Chapel, with Reverend Tom Bias officiating. 
   Burial will follow in Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery. 
   Pallbearers will be Joey Caison, Dane Stanley, George Reeves, Lonnie Varnam, Bevin Johnson, Robert H. Dennis II. 
   Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Caison, Jim Johnson, Clifton Edwards.
