   Blizzard, Mauda Lester Quinn, 83, of Pink Hill died Monday in Lenoir Memorial Hospital, Kinston. The funeral will be at 7 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home Chapel, Beulaville. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Pink Hill. 
   
   Bullock, Theoster Sr., of Whiteville formerly of Fair Bluff died Sunday at home. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Branch Cemetery. Smith's Funeral Home, Whiteville. 
   
   Burns, James Moss Jr., of Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington died Saturday at home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at First Presbyterian Church. Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. 
   
   Cooper, William Bertis, 66, formerly of Greenvers Community, Rose Hill died Thursday at South Ozone Park, N.Y.    Dailey, Jessie J. Jr. "Fats," of 219 S. Kerr Ave. died Saturday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Missionary Baptist Church, Winnabow. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. John H. Shaw's Sons Funeral Home.

   Fine, Arnold, 81, of Hattiesburg, Miss. formerly of Freeport, Long Island and Washington, DC died Sept. 3 at the American Hospital of Paris, France. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. today at the Washington Hebrew Congregation. Burial will be in the Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery, Columbia, S.C. Joseph Gawlers Sons, Washington, DC.

   Lanier, Minnie Frances Nethercutt, 87, of Beulaville died Sunday in Autumn Village. The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Community Funeral Home Chapel, Beulaville. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in East Duplin Memorial Gardens.

   Pickett, Perry Ann Watkins, 71, of 9404 N.C. 50, Maple Hill, died Friday at home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lee's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Lee Cemetery, Maple Hill. Dunn Funeral Home, Burgaw.

   Stovall, Margaret Jane, of Hampstead died Thursday in Ellicott City, Md. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel. Burial will be in Sea Lawn Memorial Park. 
   
   ROGER W. HEWETT 
   Roger W. Hewett, 64, of 521 Montero Drive, died at his home on Thursday, September 7 of natural causes. 
   He was born January 11, 1936, in Carver Creek Township, Brunswick County, North Carolina, the son of Weldon D. and Edith M. Mooney Hewett. He married Bernice Brinson on September 2, 1971 in York, South Carolina; she died on November 24,1997. 
   Mr. Hewett was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, Martin Lodge #624 A.F. & A.M. and the Eastern Star Equity Lodge #6 of Janesville, Iowa. 
   He had been employed as a truck driver for 41 years, retiring on August 8, 1999. 
   He is survived by a sister, Faye Tilley of Durham, North Carolina; a nephew, Ed Tilley of Wilmington, NC; two nieces, Shelby Tilley and Gloria Hill, both of Durham, NC; and his cat, ChooChoo. 
   Memorial services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 10:00 a.m. at Garden View Chapel, Waterloo, Iowa. Military rites will be conducted by the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and V.F.W. Post 1623. 
   Memorials may be directed to the New Hanover County Humane Society, 2405 N. 23rd St., Wilmington, NC 28405.

   MRS. LESSIE MELVIN PHILLIPS 
   ELIZABETHTOWN - Mrs. Lessie Melvin Phillips, 81, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, September 10, 2000, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, ONeal Whitcomb Phillips. Mrs. Phillips was a dedicated homemaker who devoted her life to her Lord, her family and her church. 
   Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 13th at 2 p.m. at Elizabethtown Baptist Church with the Reverends David Elks and Mike Smith officiating. Burial will be at Mount Horeb Presbyterian Church Cemetery. 
   Survivors include four daughters, Ruth Nell Grove and husband Ron of Jacksonville, FL, Eleanor Delane Callahan of Clarkton, NC, Gail P. Williamson and husband, Rickey of Chadbourn, NC and Jackie Heyer and husband, Matt of Leland, NC, three sisters, Evelyn Phillips, Thelma Priest and Lillian Clark, all of Council, NC; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and many loved nieces, nephews and other special relatives. 
   Memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice, the, Lisbon Baptist Church or the Elizabethtown Baptist Church. 
   Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 12th from 7 until 9 at Kinlaw Funeral Home.

   CHARLES BONNER WHITEHEAD 
   Charles Bonner Whitehead of Burlington, NC, formerly of Wilmington, died Monday, September 11, 2000 at the Twin Lakes Health Center in Burlington. 
   He was born November 27, 1920 in Carteret County, NC, son of the late Carl T. and Lottie Mason Whitehead. 
   Mr. Whitehead was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of Masonic Lodge #405 in Morehead City, NC. 
   He is survived by his wife, Jean Smith Whitehead of the home; two daughters, Linda W. Lloyd and husband, Gene of Chapel Hill, NC and Pat W. Miller and husband, Walt of Wilmington, NC; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Gail Dodson and husband, Doug of Burlington, NC; one step-son, Raymond H. Stone Jr., and wife, Susan of Wilmington, NC; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Charlotte W. Mirabella, and husband, J.P.; and two brothers, Gordon Whitehead and C.G. Whitehead and wife, Marge, all of Morehead City, NC. 
   Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2000 in Oleander Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Robert Lapp. 
   The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, Wilmington.

   MRS. DOROTHY M. AUTRY 
   Mrs. Dorothy M. Autry formerly of Hampstead, NC died Saturday, September 9, 2000 at Moses Cone Hospital Greensboro, NC. 
   She was born in Clinton, NC on April 13, 1920, the daughter of the late Harvey Alexander and Katie Maud Head Beatty and was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Autry. 
   Mrs. Autry was a longtime member of Topsail Presbyterian Church in Hampstead, NC. 
   Surviving are two daughters, Myrna Greene and husband, Clifton of Greensboro, NC and Linda Rogerson and husband Keith of Isle of Palms, SC; a son, Marvin E. "Gene" Autry and wife, Janet of Hampstead, NC; a sister Earlene Kennedy of Liberty, NC; seven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. 
   Dot was a loving mother, Memama and friend. She will be greatly missed by all those lives she touched. 
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2000 at Topsail Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Joseph Washburn and the Rev. Ralph Evans. Interment will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead, NC. 
   The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Andrews Mortuary, Hampstead Chapel and other times at the Son's residence.

   ROBERT F. MARBRY 'BOB' 
   Robert F. Marbry "Bob", age 71 of Robinson, IL went to the Lord on September 10, 2000 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center. 
   Bob was a Veteran of the US Air Force. After 35 years he retired as Senior Vice President of Davy McKee. Locally, he was responsible for bringing Takeda Chemical to Wilmington, NC. 
   He was the oldest of 5 children of the late Ira and Miriam Marbry. He was the brother of Larry and sisters Dorothy Ewing, Marge Brock and Ann Keller; nephew of Marge Moreland and Betty Dispennett and Uncle to many. 
   For 51 years a loving and faithful husband to Lou. He was a loving father to daughters Kathy, husband Dave Lambacher and Nancy Marbry of Atlanta, GA; sons John, wife Debbie of Hudson, OH, Jim, wife Mitzi of Fort Worth, TX and Larry, wife Renee of Houston, TX. Grandfather to Gina Gerace, Paul, Lisa, Joshua and Molly Lambacher and Robert Marbry Kimball. Great-grandfather to Jacob. Son-in-law to Alice and the late Francis Johnson of Wilmington, NC. 
   He loved good stories, all music and was an avid sports enthusiast. He had a great love for the Lord and his family and was a member of North Grove Presbyterian Church, Wilmington, NC. 
   A memorial service will be held at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church at 800 Piner Road at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2000.In lieu of flowers, contributions or donations can be made to the building fund of North Grove Presbyterian Church, 804 Valley Forge Court, Wilmington, NC 28411 or Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, 1406 Physician Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
