   MRS. MILLIE PEARL REGISTER PAIT 
   Mrs. Millie Pearl Register Pait, 62, of 5316 N.E. 5th Avenue, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, died Thursday, September 7, 2000, in Holy Cross Hospital, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. 
   The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2000, at Floyd Memorial Chapel, Lumberton, N.C. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery, Lumberton. 
   Mrs. Pait was born in Wallace and was a homemaker. 
   She is survived by her husband, Vernon Lee Pait of the home; one daughter, Teresa Bartlett and husband Jeff of Alabama; stepdaughter, Sherry P. Gentry of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; five sisters, Anne Gonter of Wilmington, N.C., Rosa Lee Branch of Havelock, N.C., Myrtle Russ and Peggy Jones both of Kelly, N.C. and Judy Edwards of Wilmington, N.C.; two brothers, David Register of Kelly, N.C., and Bob Register of Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren, Justin Carter, Jason Carter, Trey Preston and Amber Gentry. 
   She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Rosa Johnson Register; and one sister, Margaret Knowles; and one brother, Danny Register.

   JAMES MOSS BURNS, JR. 
   James Moss Burns Jr., resident of Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach passed away on September 9. 2000 at his home. 
   Born March 18, 1927, in Asheboro, NC, to the late James Moss Burns and Miriam Whitener Burns Stokes. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his twin brothers, William Whitener Burns and Dr. Robert Alexander Burns. 
   His special interests revolved around music, architecture, gardening and people. His acting career included twenty-six seasons with WECT TV 6 and touring with Carol Channing. 
   He was a graduate of North Western University and the University of N.C. at Chapel Hill. 
   Jim was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church, and a member of many organizations including an Associate Member of the Cape Fear Garden Club and the Committee to get the USS North Carolina to Wilmington. 
   He was survived by his nieces, Miriam (Mimi) Burns Whitford and husband Rick of Wilmington, Catherine Burns Collis and husband Dennis, Elizabeth Burns Gough and husband Ray; a nephew, Dr. Robert Alexander Burns Jr. all of Atlanta, GA; a great-niece, Allene C. Whitford; great-nephews, Lee Whitford, Eric and Kevin Gough; his uncle, Julien Whitener of Hickory, NC; and a cousin, Pepper Burns and wife Arlene of Pine Knoll Shores; sister-in-law, Ruth Burns of Blue Ridge, GA; his golden Lab "Henry"; and his gardening buddy, Travis Reeves. 
   A Church and Musical Memorial services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at 11:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Gary Waller and Rev. John Ormand. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. 
   The family will be receiving friends Monday, September 11, 2000, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home. 
   Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Carillon Fund, Heart Association or to One's Favorite Charity.

   EDGAR WILLIAM (WILL) JOHNSON 
   ROSE HILL - Edgar William (Will) Johnson, age 17, of 248-J Rose Hill, died Friday September 8, 2000. 
   Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 11 at 11:00 a.m. from The Rose Hill United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Paul Stallsworth. Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery. 
   Will is survived by his parents, Robert Cowan and Luanne Reynolds Johnson of the home; one sister, Carol Luanne Reynolds Johnson of the home, two brothers, Robert Cowan Johnson II and Nash Julian Johnson, both of the home; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ann Reynolds Weeks of Clinton, paternal grandfather, Marvin Johnson of Rose Hill. Will was preceded in death by a brother, James Bailey Johnson, maternal grandfather, William Preston Reynolds, paternal grandmother, Mrs. Grace Powell Johnson; and an uncle, Edgar Marvin Johnson. 
   Born in Sampson County Will was a Junior at Harrells Christian Academy and a member of the Rose Hill United Methodist Church. 
   Casketbearers will be Daniel Price, Jodi Brooks, Adam Buckner, Nick Crawford, Brad Holland, Blake Saunders, Dave Wells, Bobby Ward, Matt Buckner and Bill Matthews. 
   Honorary Bearers will be members of Harrells Christian Academy Football team, members of Wallace-Rose Hill Football team and coaches from both schools. 
   In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to Harrells Christian Academy or Rose Hill United Methodist Church. 
   The family received at their residence 248-J Nash Johnson Road from 4:00 to 7:00 P. M. Sunday.

   MRS. THYRA WOODCOCK MILLS 
   Mrs. Thyra Woodcock Mills, 88, a resident of Brunswick Cove, Leland, N.C. died Saturday, September 9, 2000 in Brunswick Cove. 
   Mrs. Mills was born July 6, 1912 in Pender County, N.C., the daughter of the late Charlie and Helen Huffman Woodcock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Jarvis Thomas Mills. 
   She is survived by two daughters, Eunice M. Jackson of Leland and Dixie Ray Murray and husband Alvin Sr. of Eden, NC.; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. 
   Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2000 in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Vernon Kelly officiating. 
   The family will receive friends this evening, Monday, from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel and at other times at the residence of Deborah Ward, 3236 Maco Road, Leland, NC.
