HENRY M. 'HANK' LANTZ
Henry M. "Hank," Lantz of Leland, NC died Monday, August 7, 2000, at his residence.
He was born December 20, 1922 in Philippi, WV, son of the late William Henry and Mollie Ryan Lantz, and was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Waycaster Lantz.
Mr. Lantz was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was employed by Brunswick County Parks and Recreation Department for many years, and was a Mason.
Surviving are his two children, Lisa Small, and Billy Lantz and wife Cathy; two grandchildren, Christy Small Hicks and husband Brian, and Daniel Lantz, all of Leland, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2000, in Greenlawn Memorial Park by Bishop Richard Williford.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, and other times at the son's residence, 128 Westover Dr., Leland.

MR. WALTER LEWIS PAMPLIN
Mr. Walter Lewis Pamplin, 80, of 1502 Marblehead Ct., Wilmington, NC died Monday, August 8, 2000, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Wilmington.
A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2000, at Green Hill Cemetery.
He was born March 26, 1920, in Greensboro, NC to the late Walter Marion Pamplin and Blanche Gertrude Thomas Pamplin.
Mr. Pamplin was a retired District Manager for Piedmont Natural Gas. He was a longtime resident of the Greensboro-High Point area before moving to Wilmington 6 years ago. He saw action with the US Army in the European Theater during World War II. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of the Pine Valley Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dora Anne Bowden Pamplin; two children of a previous marriage, Walter Lewis Pamplin Jr. of Shepherdstown, WV and Linda Pamplin Harwell and husband Larry of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren. He was loved and will be missed by his wife's children; John and Hazel Gideon of Wilmington, Lynne Gideon of Greensboro, Kelly Gideon of Winston-Salem, Gail Gideon of Greensboro and one step-great-grandchild.
The family received friends Tuesday, August 8, 2000, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Chapel.

MOUNT OLIVE - Victor Sullivan Moore, 69, of 277 Oak Ridge Avenue, died Monday.

MRS. VIOLA WALLS WILLIAMS
Mrs. Viola Walls Williams, 98, resident of Vienna Village, died there early Sunday morning. She was born on August 1, 1902, in Wilkes County to Ambrose Houston Walls and Margaret Shore Walls. Mrs. Williams was a longtime member of Northwest Baptist Church where she had served in a number of offices. She had also been actively involved in several civic organizations. Preceding her in death were her husband, Thurman Louis Williams Sr., in 1967; and four brothers and six sisters.
Surviving are her son, Thurman L. "Butch" Williams Jr., and his wife, Betsy, of Winston-Salem; her daughter, Carol W. Tilden and husband, "Buddy" of Wilmington; four grandchildren, Cathy Pickett and husband Jim of Rich Creek, VA.; Steve Williams and wife Janet of Lewisville; Woody Burrell and Stacey Burrell, both of Wilmington; three great-grandchildren, Bobby Pickett of Radford, VA, Thomas Williams and Stephanie Williams, both of Lewisville. A memorial service was held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Northwest Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Luther Morphis. The family received friends following the service in the church parlor. MR. HANSFORD RAY HARRELSON
OAK ISLAND - Mr. Hansford Ray Harrelson, 53, of 702 West Oak Island Drive, died Monday, August 7, 2000 at University of North Carolina Hospital, Chapel Hill, after an extended battle with cancer and cancer-caused complications.
Memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Peacock-Newnam Funeral Chapel. Visitation will immediately follow the memorial service.
Mr. Harrelson was born September 1, 1946 in Lumberton, a son of the late John and Madeline Phillips Harrelson and moved to Oak Island in 1973. He was a 1964 graduate of Lumberton High School, served three years in the U.S. Navy, and was employed by CP&L from 1967-1995.
A lover of sport fishing, he was former president of Oak Island Fishing Club and was also an avid shagger.
Survivors include his children, Stoney Harrelson and Courtney Raye Harrelson, both of Wilmington and their mother, Faye Stone Harrelson of Oak Island; a brother, Archie Carlton Harrelson and his wife Sharlene of Graham; a brother, William Truett Harrelson of Lumberton; a sister, Jenny Fowler of Lumberton; niece, Melissa and nephew Allen of Graham; niece Stacy and nephew Chad of Lumberton; maternal aunt, Velenia Thompson of Lumberton; his in-laws, Linwood and Irene Stone and Elizabeth Stone of Lumberton; Linda, Ray, and Jacob Goff of Fay|ette|ville; Rena and Mark Giles of Wilmington.

SUPPLY - Ottie Virginia Andrews, age 72, widow of George K. Andrews, died Monday, August 7, 2000, at her residence on Josh Circle.
She was born in Brunswick County, a daughter of the late Lula Hewett and Albert Walker Clemmons. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Stout and her husband, Steve, Rose Hoots and her husband, Junior, all of Supply and Violet Andrews of Leland; grandchildren, Hope Brission, Janice McLamb, Felica Gray, Megan Gray, Andrea Evans and Faith Evans; great-grandchildren, Dylan Brission, Logan Brission, Summer Gray, Christopher Quick, Aundrea Washington, Demaria Evans, Tayevonne Evans, and Rodney McLamb, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2000, at Shelf Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Inman officiating. Interment will be in Silent Grove Cemetery.

REVEREND GILES W. BUTLER
Services for Reverend Giles W. Butler, 75, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Baptist Church, conducted by Reverend Donald P. Davis, Reverend Norman Hunt, Reverend O'Neil Sharpe and Reverend Jim Law. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Builders Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
Reverend Butler died Monday, August 7, 2000. Born in Wilmington, NC, he was a son of the late Theodore R. and Alice Hazel Bledson Butler. He was an U.S. Army veteran with service in the European Theater during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge and the D-Day Invasion. Reverend Butler had been a local resident since 1988 and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was a retired Baptist minister having pastored Community Chapel Baptist Church, Leland, NC, Old Shallotte Baptist Church, Shallotte, NC, and Beaver Creek Baptist Church, Neeses, SC. Reverend Butler was a member of the Lexington Baptist Association.
Surviving are his wife, Merle S. Butler of Cayce; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria Ann and Vernon Nicholson of Laurens, Rosemary Butler Robinson and Wayne Robinson of Wilmington, NC; sons and daughter-in-law, James Edward Butler of Laurens, Giles Wayne and Gail Butler of Laurens; brothers, Boyd Butler of Granite City, IL, Maurice Butler of Wilmington, NC; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
BRENDA ELIZABETH 'BETH' TYSON-HOWARD
Brenda Elizabeth "Beth" Tyson-Howard of Castle Hayne, NC died Saturday, August 5, 2000.
She was born in Wilmington, NC, November 24, 1979, daughter of Billy Ray Tyson and Brenda Gail Tyson.
Beth was a member of Wrightsboro Baptist Church and was currently a student.
Surviving in addition to her parents, are her husband, Danny Ray Howard; one daughter Hannah Blair Howard; brothers Billy Ray Tyson II, Frederick Alan Tyson and Donnie Carroll and wife Shelly; her paternal grandmother Eva Watson Tyson; aunts Loletta Dent, Barbara Cowan and husband John; special friends Larry, Tammy and Thomas Whitman; and in-laws, Pat Howard and John Blackwood, and Arthur and Eunice Howard.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2000 in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
