   Baker, William "Bill" Carl, of Carolina Beach died Wednesday at home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Seaside Chapel. Burial will be in Federal Point Cemetery. Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel. 
   
   Johnson, Grace Yandell, of Carolina Beach died Tuesday at home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. 
   
   Pennington, Bessie Gillum, died Wednesday at home. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. today in Oakdale Cemetery. Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel.

   Rivenbark, Marie Wells, 90, died Thursday at Cape Fear Hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Chapel, Burgaw. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha. 
   
   Johnson, Antwain, 26, of 614 S. 12th St. died Friday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Burial will be in Jordan Funeral Home.

   Nixon, Alberta Croom, of 114 S. Eighth St. died Thursday at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Daisy Fields Jordan Memorial Chapel.

   Bishop, Charles M., 70, of 3601 Sanderling Drive, St. James-Southport, died Wednesday at Dosher Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Peacock-Newnam Funeral Chapel, Southport. Burial will be in Cape Fear Memorial Park. 
   
   Long, Vera Mae, 63, died Friday at Columbus County Hospital. Arrangements will be announced by Peacock's Chapel in the Pines, Whiteville. 
   
   Connor, Mary Lee, 80, of 8819 New Britton Highway, Whiteville, died Thursday at Columbus County Hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McKenzie Mortuary, Whiteville. Burial will be in Hammond Family Cemetery. 
   
   Jones, Ernest C. Jr., died July 20 in Cocoa Beach, Fla. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel. 
   
  HOWARD TAFT 'TONY' MESHAW 
   HARRELLS - Mr. Howard Taft "Tony" Meshaw, 94, died Thursday in Huntington Health Care in Burgaw. 
   Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in Harmony Presbyterian Church by Rev. Herbert Pate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 
   Mr. Meshaw was born in Bladen County on February 21, 1906, to the late David Gordon and Maggie Priest Meshaw. 
   He was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Pate and Eula Water; two brothers, Charlie Meshaw and Claude Meshaw. He is survived by his wife, Annie Fennell Meshaw of Clinton; one daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Melvin L. Horne of Wilmington; three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Pearl Meshaw of Wilmington, Vernon and Carol Meshaw of Watha, Earl and Rebecca Meshaw of Burgaw; one brother, Bill Meshaw of Rockingham; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren. 
   The family received friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in Garland. 
   
  ALICE L. TROWELL 
   Alice Lancaster Trowell, 95, of 3010 Southport Road, Spartanburg, SC, died July 26, 2000 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Woodruff, SC, she lived her entire life in Pacolet Mills, SC. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Trowell, and daughter of the late Maynard Bogan "John" and Fannie Wilkins Lancaster. She was a graduate of Greenville Woman's College (now Furman University) and was retired from Spartanburg County School District #3 after 37 years of service. 
   She was a life-long member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church and was a teacher of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class for over 50 years; president of the Women's Missionary Union for many years. She was a former member of the Eastern Star. 
   Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Trowell Watson and Bobby Watson of Greenville; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Joseph Trowell and Dorothy Kirkpatrick Trowell of Spartanburg; John M. Trowell and Janet G. Trowell of Wilmington, NC; three sisters, Mary L. Reeves of Spartanburg, Grace L. Tate of Pacolet and Frances L. Pearson of Woodruff; eight grandsons; one granddaughter; fourteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas J. Trowell and a grandson, Thomas Kirkpatrick Trowell. 
   Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2000 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Bob Ivey and the Rev. James Crocker.

  MR. EDWIN 'DUCK' RIVENBARK 
   WALLACE - Mr. Edwin (Duck) Rivenbark, age 87, of 1540 Wallace Airport Road, Wallace, died Friday morning July 28, 2000, at Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw. 
   Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, from the Padgett Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. 
   His wife of forty-six years is Peachie Hatcher Rivenbark of the home. 
   The family will receive at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and will be at their residence, 1540 Wallace Airport Road, Wallace, other times.

  DORIS S. MOORE 
   Doris S. Moore of 612 Shoals Dr., Wilmington, NC died Monday after an extended illness. Born in Cary, NC, 30 Oct. 1922, she retired in 1988 from the NC Legislature Vocational Education Commission. 
   Surviving: sons, Wm. A. Stephenson and wife, Sandra, Douglas H. Stephenson and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Wm. A. Stephenson Jr. and wife, Lori, Reece A. Stephenson and wife Jeri, Erin and Courtney Stephenson; great-granddaughter Megan Alexandra Stephenson. The family honors her contributions to their lives and celebrates her new life. 
   
  JAMES TRENTON TOMPKINS 
   CALABASH - Mr. James Trenton Tompkins, age 71, of 775 Calabash Dr., Calabash, died Friday, July 28, 2000 at his residence. 
   Mr. Tompkins was born in Brunswick County June 21, 1929, and was the son of the late Lonnie B. and Mary Hardee Tompkins. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Mr. Tompkins was predeceased by his first wife, Elouise Tompkins. 
   He is survived by his wife, Shirley Medlin Tompkins of the home; five children, Rick Tompkins of Ash, Pam Boyd of North Myrtle Beach, Christa Tompkins of Wilmington, Sharon Fox of Ash and Greg Dixon of George|town; his canine companion, Zack; two sisters, Ann Housand of Longs and Mary Pearl Bellamy of Calabash, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 
   A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 30, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Supply Chapel, with Lower Cape Fear Hospice Chaplain Jim Maudlin officiating. 
   The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and other times from the residence.
