Billy Ray Todd, 63, of Wilmington, NC passed away Saturday,
July 22, 2000, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

MARIE McKEITHAN
Marie McKeithan, 87, of Bolton, died Saturday, July 22,
2000, in Greensboro. She was a native of Columbus County. She was a member
of Bolton Baptist Church. She retired from Columbus County Hospital.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday,
July 25, 2000, at Peacocks Chapel in the Pines. Interment will be in the
Lake Waccamaw Cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Warters and husband,
M.C. of Greensboro; two granddaughters, Krista Madison and husband John
of Reidsville, Karon Williams and husband Christopher of Greensboro; a
great-granddaughter, Karon Madison of Reidsville; three brothers, Cyrus
McKeithan of Lake Waccamaw, Odell McKeithan of Bolton and Ottis McKeithan
of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Estelle Ackerman of Bolton and Inez Moore
of Wilmington. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence McKeithan.
The family will receive friends 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., Monday,
July 24, 2000, at Peacock's Chapel in the Pines.

HORACE ASBURY BROWN
Horace Asbury Brown, age 78, of Sneads Ferry went home
Saturday, July 22, 2000. He was the son of the late John and Mollie Batchelor
Brown. A native of Duplin County, he has spent the last seventy-five years
in Sneads Ferry. Mr. Brown was a veteran of WWII in the U S Army and a
retired Civil Service employee. He was a member of the Sneads Ferry United
Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and was active in many administrative
committees.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary 0. Brown;
a son, H. Barry Brown and his wife Rose Auber Brown of Sneads Ferry; two
grandchildren, Sarah Ann and Daniel Alan Brown; one brother, Posie Wilson
Brown of Sneads Ferry. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews
and special friends.
Funeral services will be at First United Methodist Church
of Sneads Ferry, Tuesday July 25, at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at
Onslow Memorial Park. The Rev. Ira Smith will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday evening July 24,
from 7 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

GEORGE A. KARAFAS
George A. Karafas of 417 S. Front Street, Wilmington,
NC died Sunday, July 23, 2000 in Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC.
He was born in Icaria, Greece on November 14, 1922, son
of the late Anthony George and Eleni Safos Karafas, and was preceded in
death by his wife, Angeliki George Karafas.
Mr. Karafas was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox
Church.
Surviving are his three sons, Tony Karafas and wife Maria,
Gus Karafas and wife Argie, and Steve Karafas and wife Crystal; six grandchildren,
Angela Karafas, Argie Karafas, Eleni Karafas, Agnes Karafas, Angel Karafas,
and George Karafas; one sister, Olga Karafas, all of Wilmington, NC; and
other relatives living in the United States and in Greece.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday,
July 26, 2000 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church by the Rev. Father
Regis John Alexoudis and Rev. Nicholas Spirakis. Interment will follow
in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The Trasagion service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday

THELMA JANE HENRY TRIPP
Thelma Jane Henry Tripp, age 82, of 4003 Cedar Ave., Wilmington
died Sunday, July 23, 2000 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She
was born November 26, 1917 in Wilmington, N.C. to the late George M. and
Bertha C. Batson Henry and was preceded in death by her husband Pershing
D. Tripp.
Mrs. Tripp was a longtime member of Park Ave Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffery H. Tripp and Ronnie
P. Tripp both of Wilmington, N.C. One foster son, Wayne O. Morse of Burgaw,
N.C. Two brothers, Wilbur E. Henry of Talladega, Ala. and Graham B. Henry
of Hampsted, N.C.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 26,
2000 at Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren Sprouse officiating.
Internment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.

Braxey (Buck) Greenwood, 68, of Wilmington went home to
be with the Lord early Sunday morning, July 23, 2000 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda. He is
