   English Alfred Pittman, 91, of Currie died Wednesday at his residence.

   MARGARET HALL JONES GLASGOW 
   Margaret Hall Jones Glasgow of 307 West Main Street, Wallace, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Duplin General Hospital after an extended illness. 
   Mrs. Glasgow was born in New Hanover County on September 22, 1927, the daughter of William Bryan Jones and Margaret McGowen Hall Jones. 
   She was an active member of the Wallace Presbyterian Church and belonged to Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary teacher's society, and to the Rockfish Chapter of the DAR. Mrs. Glasgow, who taught for thirty years in the Pender and Duplin County School Systems, had directed high-quality dramatic productions while an English teacher at Wallace-Rose Hill High School. 
   Surviving are her husband of over fifty years Samuel McPheeters Glasgow II; two sons, Samuel McPheeters Glasgow III, and wife Judy of Spring Mills, Pennsylvania, and William McKay Glasgow of Wilmington; a sister Frances Lindler of Wallace; nephews Henry Bright Lindler and James Bryan Lindler and wife Paula; and a special grandniece Anna Christina Lindler. 
   Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at the Wallace Presbyterian Church with Reverend Philip Gladden officiating.

   MRS. MATTIE BARNHILL SQUIRES 
   IVANHOE - Mattie Barnhill Squires, age 93, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Cape Fear Memorial Hospital. 
   Mrs. Squires was born June 14, 1906, in Bladen County and was the daughter of the late Albert Jackson and Emily Lucy Rooks Barnhill. She was predeceased by her husband, Homer Pierce Squires Sr., and sons, Elvin Jackson Squires and James Harrison Squires. 
   She was a member of Haw Bluff Baptist Church. 
   Surviving are her son, Homer P. Squires Jr. of Wilmington; daughters, Juanita S. Potter and husband Sam of Kelly, Lucille S. "Cricket" Lewis and husband Charles "C.B." of Wilmington; daughters-in-law, Martha Squires of Ivanhoe and Lois Squires of Wilmington; brother, Archie Barnhill of Ivanhoe; sisters, Wilma Kelley of Charlotte, Mavis Barnhill of Burgaw and Ruth Horrell of Ivanhoe; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren. 
   Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Chapel, Burgaw, with the Rev. Robert Compton officiating. 
   Burial will follow at Haw Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery. 
   Casketbearers will be grandsons of Mrs. Squires.

   BURNICE LEROY CUMBEE 
   SOUTHPORT - Mr. Burnice Leroy Cumbee age 66 of 4763 Navigation St., Southport died Monday, June 5, 2000 at Dosher Memorial Hospital. 
   Mr. Cumbee was born September 3, 1933, in Brunswick County and was the son of the late Alva Albert and Sudie Benton Cumbee. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Federal Paper Co. 
   He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Skipper Cumbee; two sons, Kenneth L. Cumbee and Eric D. Cumbee both of Southport; two daughters, Wanda Patrick of Carolina Beach and Shannon Huddleston of Leland; a brother, Delmas Cumbee of Williamston, NC; two sisters, Julia Knox of Bolivia and Ethel Fosnough of Leland; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. 
   The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Supply Chapel, and other times from the home of Eric Cumbee, 4763 Navigation St., Southport. 
   The time and place for services to be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2000 will be announced.

   DOROTHY 'D.O.T.' LUDLUM KRIMMINGER 
   Dorothy "D.O.T." Ludlum Krimminger of 5723 Green Swamp Road, Ash, and 2822 Holden Beach Road, Supply, died at home Monday, June 5, 2000, following a battle with cancer. She was born in Brunswick County on June 22, 1914, the daughter of Johnie B. Ludlum and Mirriam "Sister" Ludlum. 
   On June 27, 1931 she was married to James W. Krimminger, who preceded her in death on February 10, 1976. 
   Mrs. Krimminger was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Robert E. Carlyle Jr., and two sons-in-law Robert Carlyle Sr. and Billy Turbeville. 
   She was a member of Coastline Volunteer Rescue Squad from August 1983 to July 1998. She served many years as hostess and the annual yard sale chairperson, she was lovingly named "D.O.T." by fellow squad members. She attended Camp Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Ash. 
   "D.O.T" will be remembered with great affection by her daughters, Alice K. Turbeville and Betty K. Cheers, son-in-law Hubert J. Cheers, grandchildren Linda Cheers, Hubert Cheers Jr. and Beverly, and Kaye Mattingly and Ryan, great-grandchildren Brooke and Daniel Evans, Stephanie and David Cheers, a "special son" Roy Todd Sr., a "special great-granddaughter" Victoria; Joey and Gail Kosh and children and several nieces and nephews. 
   Visitation will be Tuesday, June 6, 2000, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Supply, and other times at the home at 2822 Holden Beach Road. 
   Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Coble Ward-Smith, by the Reverend Garland Long. Interment will follow at the Griffin Cemetery in Ash. 
   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, to enable the "Hospice Angels" in the care of other terminally ill patients.

   MRS. RETHA HARDEE BRIDGEMAN 
   Mrs. Retha Hardee Bridgeman, 91, of Wilmington, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Britthaven of NorthChase. 
   Mrs. Bridgeman was born August 3, 1908, in Brunswick County, the daughter of the late William Hinson and Martha Anne Suggs Hardee and was the widow of Charles L. Bridgeman, who died in 1968. She was also preceded in death by three brothers Harvey, Alvie and Daniel Hardee and five sisters Lessie Benton, Nola Hardee, Alma Suggs, Ellen Clemmons and Stella Watts. 
   Mrs. Bridgeman was employed at Spofford Cotton Mills for several years, and was also a devoted member of the R.S.V.P. of NHRMC for many years. 
   Survivors include her daughter Mrs. Lillie Martin and husband David of Wilmington, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Along with her immediate family she leaves to cherish her memories several nieces, nephews and innumerable friends. 
   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at the graveside in Greenlawn Memorial Park by the Reverend Danny Rackley, pastor of Son Rise Ministries of Britthaven of which Mrs. Bridgeman was a member. 
   Casketbearers will be David Martin Jr., Marshall C. Martin, Jesse Savage III, Jesse Savage IV, John James IV, Bradley Martin, Wayne Hardee and Larry Addair. 
   The family will receive friends at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel, tonight from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times will be at the home of her daughter at 124 Hinton Ave., Wilmington, NC 28403.

   GORDON THOMAS ROBERTS 
   Gordon Thomas Roberts of Wilmington, died Sunday afternoon at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Mr. Roberts never regained consciousness after being struck by lightning. He was 57. 
   Gordon was born in Schenectady, New York on November 11, 1942, and was a lifelong employee of the General Electric Company. He enjoyed tinkering, old American cars, and his five o'clock cocktail (earlier on weekends!) 
   He was admired as a devoted husband and father. He will be missed by Mickey, his wife of 37 years, his children Deborah Marie Roberts of Charlotte, Lisa Roberts-Morgan and her husband, Jeff, of Charlotte, Kristine Roberts of Schenectady, New York, Ken Roberts, his wife, Melinda, and their children Bailey Rose and Molly Michaelina of San Antonio, Texas; his mother Helen of Wilmington, and his fellow employees at General Electric in Castle Hayne. Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Roberts of Schenectady. 
   Friends are invited to attend a visitation at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street, Tuesday evening at six o'clock. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday morning at eleven o'clock at Saint Mary Catholic Church on 4th and Ann streets.

   GLADYS AHRENS 'MICKEY' LOVE 
   Gladys Ahrens "Mickey" Love of Wilmington, NC, died Monday, June 5, 2000, in Southern Pines, NC. 
   She was born on April 18,1916, in Wilmington, NC, the daughter of the late Adolph George and Lillian Grant Davis Ahrens. 
   She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. 
   Surviving are two sons; Joseph Ahrens Clendenin and wife Glenda of Pinehurst, NC, and George Micheal Clendenin and wife Anne of Richmond, VA. 
   Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. John C. Misenheimer and Rev. Mark A. Opgrand. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. 
   The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.

   WREN BECKHAM GEORGE 
   Wren Beckham George of Wilmington, NC died Sunday, June 4, 2000 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. 
   She was born on October 9, 1924, in Hartsville, SC, the daughter of the late Paul T. and Lessee Helms Beckham. 
   Mrs. George was an "Officer of the Courts" in legal systems of Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina for eighteen years. She later served her faith as a Christian Science practitioner, holding a "CS" degree in the Science of Christianity. More recently Wren George became active as a writer with the nom de plume of "The Carolina Wren". 
   Surviving are her husband, T.M. "Mike" Nelson George of Wilmington, NC; four children, Judith Hamilton of Solana Beach, CA, Constance Anne Netherland of Carlsbad, CA, C. Wm. "Bill" Smith of Charlotte, NC, and Russell E. Smith of Gainesville, GA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Hervey Beckham and Robert Beckham, both of Augusta, GA, Jack D. Beckham of Lithia Springs, GA; one sister, Nancy Garner of Laurel Hill, NC. 
   A memorial service will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. The family welcomes personal comments and remembrances to be shared at the service by family and friends.
