   Biefeld, Michele Fran, 50, of 133 N.E. 12th St., Oak Island, died Saturday at Dosher Hospital. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Toledo, Ohio. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Peacock-Newnam Funeral Home, Southport. 

   Black, Edwin Ernest, died Tuesday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel. 

   Bullock, Hugh M. III, of Newport News, Va., formerly of Springfield, Ill., and Wilmington died March 6 at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.

   Walker, Richard Sr., formerly of Wilmington, died Friday in New Jersey. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Bowens Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Jordan Funeral Home. 

   Williams, Joe Nathan, 71, of 156 Kenansville Highway, Warsaw, died Tuesday at Glen Care Nursing Home. Arrangements will be announced by Rhodes Funeral Home, Warsaw. 

   Wooten, Charles Stanley, 52, of Maple Hill died Tuesday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw. 

   DR. PHILIP B. LOCKHART 
   Dr. Philip B. Lockhart died Friday, March 10 in his home in South Bend, Indiana. Born in Brockton, MA on November 22, 1918, Phil was the son of Alton and Amy Lockhart. He attended the Horace Mann School, Columbia University and Columbia Medical School. He served as a captain in the Army Medical Corps during World War II before his residency in radiology at Indiana University. He was made a fellow in the American College of Radiology in 1951 and practiced radiology in South Bend from 1951 to 1984. 
   He is survived by his wife, Lyla Symmes Lockhart, a son Bruce Lock|hart, a daughter, Amy Welday, three grandsons, David, Darren and Jason Welday and a brother, Jack Lockhart and wife Barbara, of Wilmington, NC. A private funeral service has been held. Burial will take place at the Harrington Meeting House, Pemaquid, Maine, in a small cemetery on a hill overlooking the sea. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437. 

   MR. STEPHEN THOMAS NEWTON SR. 
   Mr. Stephen Thomas Newton Sr., 42, of Deerfield Road, Castle Hayne, died Monday, March 13, 2000. 
   Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2000 in Winter Park Baptist Church by the Reverend Michael Tutterow. The interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

   JOSEPH DUNCAN BROWN SR. 
   WINDSOR, VIRGINIA - Joseph Duncan Brown Sr., 82, died on Monday, March 13th. A native of Wilmington, North Carolina, he was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, Suffolk, Virginia. Mr. Brown retired as a supervisor from Newport News Ship Building in 1980 after thirty-five years of service. 
   Survived by his wife, Dorothy Florine Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph D. Jr., and Cindy Brown of Portsmouth, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn Sandra and Ted Markot of Gloucester, Virginia; two brothers, Alan Brown and Thomas Brown, both of Wilmington; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 
   A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 15th, in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, Virginia by Rev. Malcolm Yaple. Arrangements by Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home, 4304 Victoria Boulevard, Hampton, Virginia. 
   Flowers are welcome, but should friends wish to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests contributions to the Windsor (Virginia) Volunteer Rescue Squad.

   ALMA GODWIN 
   LAKE WACCAMAW - Mrs. Mary Alma Godwin, 81, of 1802 Lakeshore Drive, Lake Waccamaw, died Monday in Columbus County Hospital. She was born in Columbus County, the daughter of the late John F. and Carrie L. Canady Stevens. She was the widow of the late Warren (Doc) Godwin. Mrs. Godwin was a member of Lake Waccamaw United Methodist Church. She was formerly a beautician in Whiteville and Fayetteville. 
   Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Lake Waccamaw United Methodist Church by Rev. Tal Madison. Interment will be in Lake Waccamaw Cemetery. 
   She is survived by a sister, Effie Jones of Lake Waccamaw and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, the late Alene Baumgardner, Gladys Ward, Ada Smith and two brothers, the late Purvis Stevens and Leroy Stevens. 
   Visitation will be Wednesday, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Peacock's Chapel in the Pines. 
   The family will be at the home of Lillian Jones, 1802 Lakeshore Drive, Lake Waccamaw.

   MAMIE INEZ PRIDGEN BORDEAUX 
   Mamie Inez Pridgen Bordeaux, a resident of Cornelia Nixon Davis Health Care Center, died Monday, March 13, 2000 at her residence. 
   She was born in Pender County, NC, on August 15, 1904, the daughter of the late Albert H. Pridgen Sr. and Sarah Bailey Pridgen, and was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Lafayette Bordeaux Sr. 
   Mrs. Bordeaux resided in the Winter Park community and worked for many years in the Winter Park School Cafeteria. She was a longtime member of Winter Park Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Railroad Trainman's Association. 
   Surviving are her son, Dewey L. Bordeaux Jr. of Wilmington, NC; two grandchildren, Karen Bordeaux Gaskill and husband Kyle of Wilmington, NC, and Dewey L. Bordeaux III and wife Linda of Atlantic Beach, NC; three great-grandsons, Kyle Hart Gaskill Jr., Ethan Christian Gaskill, and Dewey Lafayette Bordeaux, IV; a sister, Margaret Moore of Faison, NC; and a brother, A.H. Pridgen of Atkinson, NC. 
   Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2000 at Greenlawn Memorial Park by the Rev. Danny Hawkins. 
   The family will receive friends at Andrews Mortuary, Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC from 7:00 p m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2000.

   JULIAN WARD GODWIN 
   Julian Ward Godwin, of 6225 Old Military Rd., Wilmington, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000 at his residence. 
   He was born in Wilmington, October 13, 1922 the son of the late Edward Percy and Mary Blanchard Godwin. 
   Mr. Godwin was one of the owners and former President of E.W. Godwin's Sons Inc. He was a life long member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church. Mr. Godwin served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and attended North Carolina State University. He was a member of St. John's Lodge No. 1 AF & AM, a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Sudan Temple and the Arab Shrine Club, and a member of the Hanover Seaside Club. 
   He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sarah Stanton Godwin, five children; Julian W. Godwin Jr., Julie Newton and husband James, Susan Long and husband Sam, and Sally Godwin, all of Wilmington, and Jane Merritt and husband Steve of Cary, N.C., nine grandchildren; Sam Long, Adam Long and wife Ashleigh, Ginny Newton, John Newton, Ward Godwin, Michael Godwin, Alex Godwin all of Wilmington, and Sarah Merritt and Holmes Merritt of Cary, NC, and one brother, Ebe Godwin and wife Janet of Wilmington. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Trey Newton and C. Godwin. 
   Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2000 in Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church by Rev. James Malloy and Rev. Sean Blackwelder. 
   The family will receive friends at home.
