WHISPERING PINES -- Mrs. Jeane Ann Standen, 84, of Whispering Pines died Saturday in St. Joseph of the Pines.
A memorial service will be held in Michigan. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home and Crematory of Southern Pines.
Mrs. Standen is survived by her husband, Harold B. Standen; two daughters, Lisa J. Goldstein of Okemos, Mich., and Gabrielle A. Jackson of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Marianne S. Dunigan 
Mrs. Marianne Spender Dunigan, 90, of Fayetteville died Saturday.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Billy Hemingway. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Dunigan is survived by two sons, Jim Dunigan of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., and Robert Dunigan of Zebulon; a sister, Frances Pollard of Winter Haven, Fla.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Ms. Louise Turner 
LAURINBURG -- Ms. Louise Turner, 81, of K-40 Morgan Circle died Saturday in Hamlet Hospital in Hamlet.
She was a retired farmer.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Sneads Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Thompson. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Butler Funeral Service.
Ms. Turner is survived by a daughter, Marion A. Turner of Laurinburg; a son, Michael A. Turner of Laurinburg; three sisters, Annie Webb, Emily L. Currie and Ila M. Turner, all of Laurinburg; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Rosa L. Ross 
BRUNSWICK -- Mrs. Rosa Lee Ross, 78, of Brunswick died Friday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in New Mount Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. Herman Stevenson. Burial will be in Cherry Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Ross is survived by a brother, Levi Moore of Brunswick; and four sisters, Sarah McAllister of Brunswick, Lillie B. Wilson and Mary Benjamin, both of Hollywood, Fla., and Margaret Greene of Pinewood, S.C.

WHITEVILLE -- Henry R. McClain, 89, of 415 W. Lewis St. died Saturday in Columbus County Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in St. James AME Church by the Rev. H.A. Ingram. Burial will be in Millican Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home.
Mr. McClain is survived by his wife, Lettie G. McClain; a daughter, Dorothy G. Troy of Whiteville; and an adopted son, Bobby Walters of Forestville, Md.

LAURINBURG -- James W. Simms, 75, of 1406 McBride Ave. died Monday in Windsor House in Rockingham.

Mr. Simms is survived by three daughters, Brenda Callahan of Laurinburg, Linda Owen of Kinston and Jeanne Farris of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sons, James W. Simms Jr. of Laurinburg and Paul Simms of Maxton; a brother, Jack Simms of Gastonia; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was a maintenance supervisor for Marlboro County Court House.

Mr. Chavis is survived by his wife, Bessie Chavis; two daughters, Rachel Powers of Laurel Hill and Tabitha Chavis of the home; a son, Jerry Chavis of Laurel Hill; two sisters, Geneva Huggins and Lena Jacobs, both of Maxton; two brothers, Chalmers Chavis of Cheraw, S.C., and Spencer Chavis of Hamlet; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Norris is survived by four grandchildren.

BALTIMORE -- Nathaniel Howard, 74, of Baltimore, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Friday.

Among Mr. Howard’s survivors is a sister, Mary Ray of Baltimore.

Mr. Yarborough is survived by his wife, Delaware C. Yarborough; four sisters, Willa Holder of Sanford, Frances Venable of Carthage, and Hester McKay and Carolyn Dull, both of Cameron; and four brothers, Malcolm Yarborough of Garner, John Yarborough of Cameron, and Steve Yarborough and Archie Yarborough, both of Sanford.

Gary Wayne Moser, 50, of 447 Bluegill Court, Fayetteville, died Monday in his home.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam war and a member of New Life Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hicks is survived by a sister, Naomi Smith of Seven Lakes, and two brothers, Linwood Patterson and Leo Patterson, both of Vass.
