|Elton Willard "Bo" Ellis
Elton Willard "Bo" Ellis, 92, of Clayton, died Tuesday, December 22, 1998. Services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church with burial following in Maplewood Cemetery. Dr. John Allen and Rev. Richard Stone officiated.
"Bo" enjoyed serving on the Johnston County Board of Education and was a member of the Cattleman’s Association. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Clayton.
He is survived by his daughters, Anne Ellis Benson of Raleigh and Susan Ellis Yamakawa of Goldsboro; son, Elton Willard Ellis, Jr. of Beaufort; sisters, Lucille Hoggard of Durham, Virginia Metschler of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Genevieve Bell of Clayton; brother, Ernest Cecil Ellis of Clayton; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Gerald Lee Norris
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 29 in the Chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Swade Barbour officiating. Burial followed in Selma Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are his daughters, Susan Heath of Four Oaks, Gail Gardner
of Clayton, Lynn Peacock of Selma and Sharon Baker of Princeton; eight
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Linwood Nathan "Lindy" Peedin
Linwood Nathan "Lindy" Peedin, 68, of Pine Level, died Monday, December 21, 1998 at his home. A retired farmer, he was born December 15, 1930 in Johnston County to the late John Leonard and Harriet Wiggs Peedin.
Mr. Peedin was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of the Pine Level American Legion, Post #405, a member of the Pine Level Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 40 and 8.
He was a former member and chief of the Pine Level Volunteer Fire Department.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 23 in the Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, of which he was member. Rev. Dennis Pollock officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Athlea Edwards Peedin; two sons, Timothy Peedin
and Tony Peedin, both of Pine Level; two daughters, Georgia P. Braswell
of Pine Level and Jennifer P. Woodward of Princeton; two brothers, James
Person Peedin of Raleigh and Edward Vance Peedin of High Point; one sister,
Shirley P. Hatcher of Clayton; and five grandchildren.
Geraldine Poole Dupree
Geraldine Poole Dupree, 80, of 530 East Front Street, Clayton, passed away Saturday, December 26, 1998. Funeral services were held Monday, December 28 at the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Pastor Jim Bogle. Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery.
Survivors are her daughter, Annie Hollyfield of Hobbs, N.M; two sons,
Walter Dupree of the home and Billy Dupree of Clayton; four grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
Helen Dogget Honeycutt
Helen Dogget Honeycutt, 73, of Clayton, died Monday, December 21, 1998. She was born in South Carolina on July 12, 1925 to the late James and Ava Sikes Dogget. She was the widow of H.P. Honeycutt, Jr.
The funeral was held Wednesday, December 23 at the graveside at Four Oaks Cemetery followed by burial.
Surviving are daughter, Nancy Honeycutt of Clayton; son, Nick Honeycutt
of Wake Forest; sister, Lucille Creech of Rocky Mount; and two grandchildren,
James and Michelle Honeycutt.
James Edward Bridges
James Edward Bridges, 76, of Red Springs, died Sunday, December 27, 1998 at the V.A. Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Funeral services are today at Reeves Funeral Home Chapel in Fayetteville with the Rev. Harold Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis Bridges of Alvin, Texas and Tim W. Bridges
of Fayetteville; two daughters, Sandra B. Jones of Greenville and Brenda
B. Byrd of Red Springs; two sisters, Lenore Blinson and Marie Hicks, both
of Clayton; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Avie Louise Lee Woodell
Avie Louise Lee Woodell, 71, of Clayton, died Friday, March 14, 2003. Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Rev. Gene Jones officiated.
She is survived by her sons, James D. Woodell of Clinton, John A. Woodell
of Buffalo, N.Y., and William E. Woodell; sisters, Virginia Moody and Dorothy
Taylor, both of Kinston; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mamie Sanders, 83, of Smithfield, died Saturday, March 15, 2003. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20, at 1 p.m. at Johnston Piney Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Delorse S. Perry of Smithfield; six sons, Harold M. and Daisy Sanders of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Willie E. and Pearl Sanders of Smithfield, Robert L. and Cynthia Sanders of Raleigh, Ralph S. and Toni Sanders of Raleigh, Roland G. and Carolyn Sanders of Garner, Floyd E. and Cynthia Sanders of Smithfield; two sisters, Mimie Sanders of Wade and Maude Smith of New Jersey; a brother, Isham Sanders of Rocky Mount; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 20, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at
Johnston Piney Grove.
Paul Daniel ‘Danny’ Barbour Sr.
Paul Daniel “Danny” Barbour Sr., of Clayton, died Sunday, March 16, 2003. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lee Harris will officiate.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Wilson of Clayton; wife, Myra M. Barbour of Clayton; son, Paul Daniel Barbour Jr., of Smithfield; and stepsons, Neal Weaver, Chris Weaver and Kevin Weaver, all of Clayton.
