Margaret Collins

Mrs. Margaret "Bobbie" L. Collins, 73, of Cornelius, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001.

Burial will be held at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Cornelius. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Bobbie retired from Burlington Industries in Mooresville in 1987. Later, she worked part-time at Rose's in Cornelius as a store greeter. She enjoyed shopping and having yard sales at her home. She was also an avid Braves baseball fan.

Her husband, Sam, preceded her in death on June 19, 2000. Bobbie, a devoted wife for 47 years, never left his side during his illness. She was a loving mother to her "three girls" and their husbands.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Geary Duckworth, Lynn and Frank Anthony, and Jill and Rodney Lewis. She has one surviving sister, Geraldine (Deannie) Karriker and her husband, Wyatt. Not only were they sisters, but also good friends.

Also surviving are her pride and joy, her grandchildren. They include four grandsons, Allen and Jamie Duckworth, Ryan Anthony, and Caelin Lewis; one granddaughter, Taylor Duckworth; and one great-grandson, Devin Duckworth.

Taylor was a special angel to her Mamaw. Mary and Geary adopted Taylor from the Ukraine in November 1999. Bobbie was at the airport to greet them and welcome her new granddaughter into the family with open arms.

Mamaw, as her grandchildren fondly called her, was always there for her family, attending birthday parties, holiday celebrations, graduations and weddings. She will be sorrowfully missed by her family and friends.

The family wishes to thank her health care providers, Dr. Ron Beamon, Dr. Daniel Kohler and Dr. Michael Haahs, for their loving care of Bobbie. The family would also like to thank friends and relatives who brought food, sent cards and helped take care of her. Your prayers were greatly appreciated.
