WARRENTON -- Adrian Davis, 33, of Warrenton died Sunday, April 1, 2001,
at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Spring Green Missionary
Baptist Church in Warrenton. The Rev. Dennis G. Lindsay, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his parents, Felton and Constance Alston Davis of Warrenton;
three brothers, Quintin and Daryl Davis, both of Norlina, and Nolan Davis
of Durham; one sister, Kendra Davis of Warrenton; and his maternal grandmother,
Hilda Alston of Warrenton.

Denis J. Manning
HENDERSON -- Denis Jerome Manning, 38, of 827 Arrow St. died Friday,
March 30, 2001, in New Orleans. He was a Vance County native and the son
of Wilbur and Christianna Marrow Manning.
He attended Vance County public schools and North Carolina Central
University.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lord Jesus
Christ House of Prayers in Oxford by pastor Rupert Dudley. Burial will
follow in the Antioch United Church of Christ Cemetery in Townsville.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ruth Kittrell Manning; one daughter, Tiffany
Manning of the home; one son, Phillip Jerome Manning of the home; three
sisters, Karen Hargrove and Lisa Manning, both of Henderson, and Angela
Sowels of Laurel, Md.; his mother, Christianna Marrow of Henderson; and
his father, Wilbur Langston Manning of Henderson.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service.

BLOUNT CREEK -- Irene L. Talley, 70, of 915 Mount of Creek Road died
Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in Beaufort County Hospital in Beaufort. She was
a native of Hanover County, Va., and the daughter of the late David T.
and Elnora Johnson Luck.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Amis Chapel
Baptist Church Cemetery in Oxford by the Rev. Malvin Tuck.
Surviving are her husband, Tommie Talley Jr.; one daughter, Kim T.
Main of Blount Creek; one son, Andy Talley of Louisa, Va.; and five grandchildren.

William Voyles
GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- William Voyles, 62, of 115 East Lake Drive, Braselton,
Ga., died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was a Jackson County native and the son of Eva Irvin Voyles and the
late Horace C. Voyles.
He was the owner of Voyles Used Cars for more than 25 years. He was
a member of Suwanee Congregational Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Hillside Chapel
by the Revs. Wayne Thomason and Wayne Wooten. Burial will be in Hillside
Gardens in Gainesville.
Visitation was held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Hillside
Funeral Home.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Imogene Voyles of Braselton, Ga.;
three sons, Joe Shoffeitt of Cleveland, Ga., Eugene Cagle of Lula, Ga.,
and Allen Voyles of Henderson; five daughters, Betty Shoffeitt of Lula,
Geneva Jones of Flowery Branch, Ga., Joyce Southers of Gainesville, Jane

Voyles of Gainesville, Harold Voyles and Steve Voyles, both of Jefferson,
Ga., and Elbert Voyles of Pendergrass, Ga.; three sisters, Betty Stephens
and Mary Lee, both of Pendergrass, and Geraldine Brooks of Walhalla, S.C.;
11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Aubrey V. Watts
OXFORD -- Aubrey V. Watts, 78, of 8007 Peck Watts Road died Monday,
April 2, 2001, at Brantwood Nursing Center. He was a Granville County native
and the son of the late Willie “Peck” Watts and Ella Currin Watts.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran
and was retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Grace Baptist
Church by the Revs. Cecil Newton and Lemar Wheeler. Burial will be in Mount
Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Nannie Duncan Watts; two daughters, Nancy Watts
and Martha W. Gay, both of Oxford; three stepdaughters, Joyce Harris and
Debbie Maddox, both of Roxboro, and Doris Gresham of Creedmoor; two stepsons,
Glenn Vaughan of Durham and Eddie Vaughan of Rougemont; 10 grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.

Mozelle S. Ivey
HENDERSON -- Mozelle Stainback Ivey, 89, of 1135 Glebe Road, Henderson,
died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Maria Parham Hospital. She was a Vance
County native and the daughter of the late Boz and Mary Alice Edwards Stainback.
She was the widow of Charles Tucker Ivey.
She was a homemaker and a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Island Creek
Baptist Church by the Rev. Johnson Gupton. Burial will be in the church
cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter, Alice I. Overby of Henderson; two sons, Robert
M. “Bob” Ivey and Charles T. “Pete” Ivey Jr., both of Henderson; 12 grandchildren;
and nine great-grandchildren.

Baptist Church in Norlina’s Oine community. The Rev. Rosa Paschall, pastor,
will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Level United Church of Christ
in Manson.
Surviving are six daughters, Nadine Glover and Joyce Glanton, both
of Newark, N.J., Jeanetta Hargrove of Oxen Hill, Md., Susie Bailey of Norlina,
and Rosiland Johnson and Lucia Seegar, both of Greensboro; five sons, Almetta
Hargrove Jr. of Kenilworth, N.J., Orie Hargrove of Oxen Hill, Wilbur Hargrove
of Norlina, and Chilion and Bruce Hargrove, both of the home; 26 grandchildren;
28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kate

PALMER SPRINGS -- James Hillery “Jimmie” Jeffress Sr., 67, of 835 Rough
Road, Boydton, Va., died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at his residence. He
was a native of Mecklenburg County, Va., and the son of Richard Fleming
Jeffress and Elise Vaughan Jeffress.
He was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church and was owner
of Jeffress Insurance Co. in South Hill, Va., for many years.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairview
Cemetery in Warrenton by the Rev. Bill Tanner.
Surviving are his wife, Helen H. Jeffress; mother, Elise V. Jeffress
of Roanoke, Va.; son, James H. “Jeff” Jeffress Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn.;
sister, Mary “Mollie” Snedegar of Roanoke, Va.; six stepchildren, Warren
Brenner of Clearwater, Fla., Lucy Hellman of Charleston, S.C., Holly Reiling

Sunday, April 1, 2001, at her residence. She was a Warren County native
and the daughter of John Davis and the late Maria Watson Davis.

Baptist Church by the Rev. James Barham. Burial will follow in the church
cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Roosevelt Kearney; five children, Roosevelt

Davis Jr., Walter Davis and Bobby Davis, all of Maryland; seven sisters,

HENDERSON -- Blanche N. Neathery, 89, a resident of 4376 Glebe Road,
died Thursday morning, April 5, 2001, at Granville Medical Center. She
was a native of Vance County, was the daughter of the late Robert and Ida
Harris Nethery, and was the widow of Brodie Lee Neathery.
She was a former employee of the old Leggetts Department Store. She
was a lifelong member of Island Creek Baptist Church, where she was a former
Sunday school teacher and Women Missionary Union leader.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Island Creek
Baptist Church by the Rev. Johnson Gupton. Burial will follow in the Island
Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Frances N. Overby, Barbara N. Davis
and Yvonne N. Phelps, all of Henderson, and Donnie N. Lamberth of Midlothian,
Va.; two sons, Farrell Neathery of Clarksville, Va., and Douglas Neathery
of Henderson; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at the J.M.
White Funeral Home.

Center. She was a native of Camden, N.J., and was the daughter of the late
Charles Robert and Marie Pizzutello Quenzel.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sunset Gardens
by the Rev. Rob Keffer.
She is survived by her husband, Weldon Starrett, and one brother, Robert
Quenzel of Matawan, N.J.
