BURLINGTON -- Mrs. Regina Murray Vetter, 82, of 618 Atwater St. died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at 8:25 a.m., at her residence.
A native of Newark, N.J., she was the wife of the late Raymond E. Vetter and the daughter of Dominick F. Murray and Elizabeth Gilday Murray, both deceased. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and The Theresians.
Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Joseph G. Vetter of Burnsville and Mr. David R. Vetter of Graham; two daughters, Mrs. Marie E. Felder of Durham and Mrs. Rita A. Scearce of Greensboro; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will be at Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7-9 p.m. tonight and other times they will be at the residence.

Mary Louise Jackson Shaw, 59, died Jan. 15, 1998, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.
A graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998 in Lakeview Memorial Park.
A native of Columbia, S.C., she had resided in Greensboro for the past 43 years, where she was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church and most recently attended the New Light Baptist Church.
Mrs. Shaw is survived by her son, Theodore Kevin Shaw of Greensboro; her father, Harvey W. Jackson, Sr.; brother, Harvey W. Jackson, Jr.; sister, Garnell and husband, Lee Roy Snipes, all of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Saundra and husband, Ronald Gaye, Sr. of Greensboro and Gloria and husband, David Clark of Belle Glade, Fla.; five grandchildren; uncle, Edward Jackson; aunt, Henrietta Wright, both of Columbia, S.C.; aunt, Beulah Jackson of Philadelphia, Pa.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Thomas Arnold Settlemyre, 86, formerly of 1904 Liberty Dr. died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at the HealthHaven Nursing Center where he was a resident.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
Mr. Settlemyre was born March 24, 1911 in Forest City, the son of George F. and Bertha A. Proctor Settlemyre.
Tom was a member of Guilford Park Presbyterian Church and was retired from Beck Motor Company where he was the used car sales manager.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Watts Settlemyre on March 29, 1997.
He is survived by his sons, Thomas A. Settlemyre Jr. and wife, Nancy, G.W. (Bill) Settlemyre and wife, Pat, Jerald G. Settlemyre and wife, Alice, all of Greensboro; one sister, Mrs. Hilda Heggie of Spindale; one brother, Charles W. Settlemyre of Hillsborough; seven children; and ten great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Tom Settlemyre, Jr., 1015 Breezewood Road.

MAYODAN -- Joe Pete Richardson, 60, of 2091 Victory Hill Church Road died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden.
Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Victory Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial in the Harris Family Cemetery.
Mr. Richardson was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County, attended Victory Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church, was employed by Bassett Walker in Martinsville, Va., and was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ballard Richardson and is survived by his wife of 38 years, Betty Hickman Richardson of the home; mother, Nellie Hickman Richardson of Mayodan; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia & Raymond Wilson, Judy and Timothy Boyd, Janet Richardson, all of Mayodan, Karen and Bobby Dement of Eden; sisters, Mary Jane Hickman of Stoneville, Geneva Joyce of Martinsville, Va., Barbara Nuckles of Saluta, Va.; brothers, Owen Richardson of Madison, Gurney Richardson, Andy Richardson, both of Mayodan, Billy Richardson of Eden; and six granddaughters, Misty Dawn Wilson, Casey Nichole Boyd, Shaina Rochelle Wilson, Kimberly Lynn Boyd, Cierra LaShaun Chilton and Brittany Danielle Dement.

SALTVILLE, VA -- Mr. Sidney E. Frye, 75, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Va.
Funeral service for Mr. Sidney Frye will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at The D.R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Blevins and the Rev. Paul Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Saltville V.F.W. Post 7328.
Mr. Frye was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired employee of the W & L Construction Co.

Mrs. Chung was a Moore County native and attended Pine Mountain Friends Church.

LEXINGTON -- Mrs. Mary Link Briggs, 91, of Triad United Methodist Home, Winston-Salem, and formerly of Bellamy Apartments, Lexington died early Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998 at the Triad United Methodist Home after a sudden illness. She had been in declining health for several months.
Funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. J. Hurley Thomas. Burial will be in Lexington City Cemetery.
Mrs. Briggs was born Sept. 8, 1906 in Davidson County to Richmond Davidson Link and Madge Fink Link. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and held a life membership in the United Methodist Women. She was a graduate of the Davidson Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered Nurse. She did volunteer work for many years for the American Red Cross and was a former member of the Lexington Woman's Club. She was married to Thomas G. Briggs who died in 1957.
Surviving are stepdaughter, Mrs. Ruth B. Fisher of Norfolk, Va.; nieces, Madge L. Grace and Moody Link and two great-nephews and a great-niece, all of Detroit, Mich.; great-nephew, Raymond Kelly Walker and wife, Melissa and great-great-nephew, Joshua Wilson Walker, all of Simpsonville, S.C.; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

GEORGE BRANDT, JR.

YORK, S.C. -- Mr. George Brandt, Jr., 77, of 2125 Brandt Road died Jan. 17, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior with the Rev. Dr. Charlie Foss, the Rev. Dr. Joe Mills, and the Rev. Al Bolland officiating.
Born Aug. 17, 1920 in Greensboro, he was the son of the late George & Marcia Chowning Brandt. Mr. Brandt was a 1942 graduate of North Carolina State University and a World War II Army Air Force veteran where he was a pilot in the Air Transport Command. He retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing in 1985. He served on the Boards of the Red Cross, Rock Hill United Way and York General Hospital. Mr. Brandt was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour where he served as vestryman and junior warden.
Survivors include wife, Virginia Taylor Brandt; two sons, Lee Brandt of Darien, Ga. and George Brandt, III of Spartanburg, S.C.; one daughter, Marcia Brandt of Charleston, S.C.; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Williams was a native of Guilford County and was a retired electrician for Thomas Electrical Company. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Williams of Greensboro; Clarence C. Williams of Anita, Fla.; and Joe Williams of Radford, Va.; and three grandchildren.

Timothy Goode Warner, 71, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in Wesley long Community Hospital.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Warner at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, in the Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel.
Timothy Goode Warner was born in Greensboro on April 23, 1926 to the late D.O. and Lois Goode Warner. He was a graduate of Duke University and the Duke University Law School. He was in private practice in Greensboro for a number of years and was also an attorney with the internal Revenue Service in Atlanta and Dallas. Mr. Warner served as a Judge of the Municipal County Court of the City of Greensboro from 1952-1955. Mr. Warner was a member of the Greensboro Oddfellows Lodge.
Mr. Warner is survived by his wife, Carin Loven Warner of the home; a daughter, Elizabeth Nagle of Charleston, SC; step-son, Michael Chaney of Walkertown; sister, Mary Robinson of Greensboro; brother, Joe Warner of Rose Hill; and two grandchildren, Dakota Chaney and Skyler Chaney of Walkertown.
The family will receive friends following the service on Wednesday, at Forbis and Dick.
