LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Callie S. Arnold, 80, of 480 Shawtown Road, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Arnold was a member of Lillington Star Reformed Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Mother Board.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Lillington Star Reformed Free Will Baptist Church by Bishop Michael Rogers. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Dunn.

Mrs. Arnold is survived by five sons, James T. Arnold of New Jersey, Waylon Arnold of Charlotte, Eugene Arnold of Santa Clara, Calif., David Arnold of Opelousas, La., and Franklin Arnold of Fayetteville; two daughters, Sandra Quarles and Brenda Lee, both of New Jersey; two sisters, Louise Smith of New York and Mae Ruth Champion of Lillington; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Dafford Funeral Home in Dunn.

WHISPERING PINES -- Mrs. Janet B. Beall, 84, of 12 Sunset Drive, died Friday in Pinehurst Nursing Center.

Private services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Carolina Cremation Society.

Mrs. Beall is survived by her husband, Warren S. Beall; three daughters, Sharon Thompson of Bryan, Texas, and Stephanie Ilardi and Vicki Munoz, both of Whispering Pines; and a brother, George Wilson of Kent, Wash.

PINEHURST -- Ms. Ida Danto Berman, 85, of Pinehurst, died Monday in Manor Care.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Beth Moses Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Dining Room at Carolina House by Rabbi Yosef Levanon. Local arrangements are being handled by Powell Funeral Home & Crematory of Southern Pines.

Ms. Berman is survived by a daughter, Sharon Russell of Pinehurst.

A sitting shiva will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of Sharon Russell, 1 Chestnutt Lane.

SPRING LAKE -- Mrs. Estelle Hazel Lewis Bourne, 66, of 105 Andrew Cox Lane, died Wednesday in Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn.

The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. C.L. Cherry. Burial will be in McNeill Cemetery.

Mrs. Bourne is survived by her fiancé, Jimmy Dukes of the home; two sons, Kenneth Bourne of Spring Lake and Robert Bourne of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Elaine Williams of Dallas and Patricia Deleroy of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, John Lewis of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Ruby Winestock of Washington; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 9:30 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

Edna W. Bullard
LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Edna Wiggins Bullard, 79, of 705 Madison Ave., died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Bullard was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church, where she worked in the Sunday School department, the library and the nursery. She taught in the Robeson County schools for 50 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Floyd Memorial Chapel by the Revs. Ronald Long and Joe Sellers. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery in Gibson.

Mrs. Bullard is survived by her husband, Oscar A. Bullard of the home; and four brothers, Clyde Rice, Jim Rice and Ed Rice, all of Asheville, and Max Rice of Mars Hill.

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Ruby Milligan Giddens, 80, of Laurinburg, died Monday in her home.

Mrs. Giddens is survived by four sons, John H. Giddens of Crestview, Fla., and Charlie ‘‘Grayson’’ Giddens, Joeie Giddens and Jackie D. Giddens, all of Laurinburg; a daughter, Tammy G. Garcia of Ellerbe; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

LUMBERTON -- Richard French “Joyce” Jacobs, 74, of 506 Dewey Drive, died Monday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Jacobs was a textile dyer supervisor for Velcord.

PINEHURST -- Ms. L’Bertie Holland Rahn, 74, of Pinehurst, died Tuesday in Quail Haven Nursing Home.

Ms. Rahn was a member of Southern Pines United Methodist Church and the Pinehurst Kiwanis Club. She was a secretary and a re ceptionist at the Shaw House in Southern Pines.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Southern Pines United Methodist Church by Dr. Mark Wethington. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Sykes Chapel cemetery in Claxton, Ga.

Ms. Rahn is survived by two daughters, Mary C. Kitchens of High Point and Laura R. Spivey of Newtown, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

SAN DIEGO -- Mrs. Barbara D. Walker, 51, of San Diego, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Sunday.

Mrs. Walker was an administration manager and a comptroller for Brady Companies of California for 19 years.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in McMillan Presbyterian Church in Godwin, N.C., by the Rev. Billy Herring. Burial will be at a later date.
