Mrs. Lillian Cannady Falls, 80, of 3022 Marita Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Highland House.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in LaFayette Memorial Park by the Rev. Brook R. Grimes.

Mrs. Falls is survived by two sons, Lane Falls and Wayne Falls, both of Fayetteville; and a sister, Lena C. Burgett of Wilmington.

Mrs. Mary Hair
Mrs. Mary Hair, 71, of Route 2, Box 525-B, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Hair worked at Head Start of Cedar Creek. She was also a daycare teacher assistant.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel by the Revs. Andrew Wright and Mary Kinder. Burial will be in Bull Branch Cemetery.

Mrs. Hair is survived by her husband, Archie C. Hair of Fayetteville; three sons, Willie Hair, Andrew Hair and Marvin Hair, all of Fayetteville; a daughter, Alice Cooper of Spring Lake; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Elva Elizabeth Folk, 88, of 5509 Bragg Blvd., Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Elmer E. Monger
Retired Army Col. Elmer Eugene Monger, 71, of 6309 Greyfield Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in Highland House.

Mr. Monger was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. During his military career he was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster. He was also inducted into the Fort Benning Military Hall of Fame.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 9 a.m. Dec. 23 in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mr. Monger is survived by his wife, Nedra L. Monger of the home; two sons, Michael Monger of Raleigh and Mark Monger of Rellwood City, Calif.; a daughter, Michelle Monger of Bedford, Texas; and a sister, Thalia Becker of Rochester, Minn.

Mrs. Ruby Berckman Starling, 81, of Fayetteville died Tuesday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Starling retired from Burlington Industries.

Mrs. Kelly is survived by two daughters, Rosemary K. Thomas of Wilmington and Margaret K. Jones of Bennett; two sons, Rives Kelly and D. Archie Kelly, both of Carthage; a sister, Mary R. Kirkman of Pleasant Garden; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Fry-Prickett Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall fund, care of First Presbyterian Church, Carthage, N.C.

James D. Shields
CARTHAGE -- James D. Shields, 91, of McReynolds Street died Wednesday in Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.

Mr. Shields was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Stuart Gordon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Shields is survived by a niece and a nephew.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Fry-Prickett Funeral Home.

Rudolph Newkirk Sr.
CHADBOURN -- Rudolph Newkirk Sr., 72, of 68 Thomas Ave. died Saturday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Belvue Cemetery by elder Larry Williamson. Arrangements are being handled by D & A Funeral Service.

Mr. Newkirk is survived by his wife, Eloise Newkirk of Chadbourn; a son, Rudolph Newkirk Jr. of Chadbourn; a sister, Sara L. Benjamin of Chadbourn; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
