ROWLAND -- Mrs. Lucy M. Oxendine, 104, of 142 Roberts Farm Road died Wednesday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Beulah Baptist Church by the Revs. Roger Adkins and Manford Locklear. Burial will be in the Oxendine family cemetery.
Mrs. Oxendine is survived by five sons, Hallman Oxendine, Robert Oxendine, James E. Oxendine and Ronald Oxendine, all of Rowland, and Clavin Oxendine of Maxton; five daughters, Dorothy O. Locklear, Nellie Hunt and Gennett Locklear, all of Rowland, and Gennell Lowery of Maxton and Betty O. Brooks of Pembroke; 47 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
The public will be received Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.

David Wright, 60, of 6539 Amanda Circle, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Whispering Pines Nursing Home.

Ms. Minnie Batten Rice, 84, of Route 25, Fayetteville, died Thursday in her home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hillside Cemetery in Laurinburg by Dr. Gene Miller. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in Galatia Presbyterian Church by Dr. Miller.
Ms. Rice is survived by two sons, James F. Batten of Charleston, S.C., and Fred B. Batten of Charlottesville, Va.; a daughter, Patricia B. Lindsay of Fayetteville; and a sister, Lucille T. Boyette of Laurinburg.

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Ronald Lynn Larsen, 48, of 4714 Pony Run St., Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Herndon, Va.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fayetteville Community Church by the Rev. Ken Pritchard. Burial with military honors will be in Main Post Cemetery on Fort Bragg. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
Mr. Larsen is survived by his wife, Kay F. Larsen of the home; two daughters, Buffy Kilbury of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Elizabeth Larsen of Fayetteville; a son, James Larsen of Fayetteville; three brothers, Donald Larsen and Darrel Larsen, both of Washington, and John Larsen of Oregon; and four grandchildren.

Raymond E. Lewis Jr. 
Raymond Eugene Lewis Jr., 55, of 1100 Claredon St., Fayetteville, died Sept. 11 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Lewis retired from the Cumberland County school system.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Beaufort Memorial Gardens in Beaufort, S.C.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his father, Raymond E. Lewis Sr. of Beaufort; two sisters, Joann Schaekel of Little Mouth, S.C., and Suzanne Kirkland of Charlotte; and a brother, Ralph E. Lewis of Irmo, S.C.

ORRUM -- Lawrence Alton Britt, 73, of 423 VC Britt Road died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Mr. Britt was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a veterans employment representative for the U.S. Department of Labor before retiring. He also worked for the North Carolina Employment Security Commission. He was a member of Bloomingdale Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bloomingdale Baptist Church by the Rev. W.C. Baxley. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Mr. Britt is survived by his wife, Sarah S. Britt of Orrum; two daughters, Linda Britt-Foster of Hartsdale, N.Y., and Claudia B. Chermak of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four brothers, Virgil Britt Jr. and Gerald Britt, both of Orrum, Carlton Britt of Crafton, Va., and Howard Flantos of Brunswick, Ga.; and three sisters, Claudia Little of Beno, Va., and Virginia Stubbs and Barbara West, both of Lumberton.

PINEHURST -- James Herbert Simpson Jr., 74, of Pinehurst died Wednesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Mr. Simpson retired from North American Manufacturing Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of The Village Chapel.

Mr. Simpson is survived by his wife, Lucille Simpson of Pinehurst; three sons, James H. Simpson III of Surfside, S.C., Jon A. Simpson of Fremont, Calif., and Jeffrey R. Miss Erica R. Smith 
CARTHAGE -- Miss Erica Rashawn Smith, infant daughter of Eric L. Smith Sr. and Anita M. Finch of Carthage, died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
In addition to her parents, Erica is survived by a brother, Eric L. Smith Jr. of the home; two sisters, Desiree S. Goins and Kadijah M. Goins, both of the home; her paternal grandmother, VonElnora Gilchrist of Carthage; and her maternal grandmother, Norma K. Finch of Southern Pines.

Mrs. McRimmon was a registered nurse at Scotland Memorial Hospital before retiring. She also was a member of the U.S. Army Nursing Corps during World War II. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

ERWIN -- Robert Emery Martin, 75, of 307 East H St. died Thursday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Mr. Martin was a member of Erwin United Methodist Church. He worked for Dan River Mills for 18 years.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Erwin United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ken Hall. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Methodist Church cemetery in Ruffin.

Mrs. Lee was a member of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and volunteered at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant Hope Baptist Church by Dr. Garland Bordeaux and the Rev. David McGugan. Burial will be in Floyd Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Lee is survived by two daughters, Virginia L. “Gingy” Hayes of Fairmont and Amy L. Frey of Augusta, Ga.; four sons, William F. McKenzie of Fairmont and J.T. Bullock, William P. PARKTON -- Mrs. Dorothy Rose Smith McMillan, 69, of 103 School St. died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mrs. McMillan is survived by three daughters, Billie J. Gibson of St. Pauls, Daphne M. Williams of Fayetteville and Tena S. McMillan of Pineville, La.; a son, Angus W. McMillan Jr. of Danville, Ky.; and eight grandchildren.

Channing O. Oxendine 
RED SPRINGS -- Channing O’Ryan Oxendine, 2-year-old son of Myra M. Oxendine, of 464 Buie-Philadelphus Road died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Oak Grove Holiness Church by the Revs. James Bullard Jr., Gregory Cummings and Grover Oxendine. Burial will be in Oxendine Cemetery.
In addition to his mother, Channing is survived by his maternal grandfathers, Ronald Oxendine of Pembroke and Bobby Freeman of Lumberton; and his great-grandmothers, Betty Locklear of Red Springs and Reva Freeman of Fairmont.

Mrs. Yattie R. Pridgen 
CHADBOURN -- Mrs. Yattie Rooks Pridgen, 95, of Peacock Road died Thursday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.
Mrs. Pridgen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Klondyke Chapter 197.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Chadbourn Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Norman. Burial will be in Columbus Memorial Park in Whiteville. Arrangements are being handled by Worthington Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pridgen is survived by a daughter, Frances P. Lyon of Chadbourn; a sister, Dorothy Highsmith of Whiteville; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Tatum is survived by his wife, Mary M. Tatum of the home; four daughters, Delphine Tillman of Pittsfield, Mass., Karen Peterson and Nina Tatum, both of Rose Hill, and Gailey Tatum of Durham; three sons, Franklin Tatum and Vinson Tatum, both of Rose Hill, and James Tatum of Durham; a sister, Jean Faison of Ingold; a brother, Lowell Tatum of Long Island, N.Y.; and 12 grandchildren.

ORRUM -- Ronnie M. Poole, 40, of 1313 Herring Road died Saturday.
Mr. Poole worked for Edwards Trucking Co.

Poole of Orrum; three sisters, Sandra L. Poole of Orrum, Lisa McCallum of Bordman and Jessica L. Poole of Lumberton; and his grandmother, Emma Bennett of Bronx, N.Y.

Mrs. Pauline S. Richards 
LANCASTER, S.C. -- Mrs. Pauline Seabrook Richards, 100, of 311 Moore St. died Monday in Springs Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church cemetery by the Revs. Sam Thomas and Ernie Thompson. Arrangements were handled by Cauthen Funeral Home.
Among Mrs. Richards’ survivors is a daughter, Phoebe Fitzgerald of Fayetteville, N.C.

Mrs. Azalee B. Richardson 
LAKE CITY, S.C. -- Mrs. Azalee B. Richardson, 74, of Lake City died Monday.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Greater St. James AME Church by the Rev. James Glisson. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Green’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Frances D. Creech 
LITTLE RIVER, S.C. -- Mrs. Frances D. Creech, 76, of Sea Horse Drive, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Thursday in Myrtle Beach Manor.
Mrs. Creech was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in Christ United Methodist Church in Fayetteville by the Rev. Walter Graves. Arrangements are being handled by McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach.
Mrs. Creech is survived by a son, Daniel Creech of Little River; a daughter, Katherine D. Parker of California; three sisters, Dorothy Frazier, Ollie Edmonds and Margaret Daniel, all of Warrenton, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Clarence Drains 
RAEFORD -- The funeral service for Retired Army Staff Sgt. Clarence Drains, 44, of 528 Woodberry Circle, who drowned at sea July 24, 1997, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel in Spring Lake by the Rev. James Chung. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Spring Lake.
A memorial service will be held tonight at 7:30 at the funeral home.
Mr. Drains is survived by his wife, Paein Drains of Raeford.
