LUMBERTON - Ms. Dona Adams Overstreet, 56, of 56-9 Beulah Church Road,
died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Overstreet worked for the Department of Mental Health of Robeson
County and was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Biggs Funeral Home
by the Rev. Dale Brudvig. Burial will be in the Smith family cemetery.
Ms. Overstreet is survived by a son, John L. Overstreet of Lumberton;
her mother, Bernice G. Adams of Lumberton; a brother, Sammy Adams of South
Carolina; and two granddaughters.

Sheila M. Bowers
RAEFORD - Mrs. Sheila Massie Bowers, 41, of 207 Village Lane, died
Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mrs. Bowers was an Army veteran. She was in the 82nd Airborne Division
on Fort Bragg and was a paratrooper. Mrs. Bowers was also a homemaker.

Service & Crematory in Fay- etteville.
Mrs. Bowers is survived by her fiance, James M. Dillow of the home;
a son, David W. Milbrodt of Raeford; two daughters, Jessica R. Milbrodt

Charles E. Bowers Jr. and Agnes A. Bowers of Raeford; a brother, Charles

Blaine O'Brien Jr.
Blaine O'Brien Jr., 71, of 6449 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, died Saturday,
Aug. 10, 2002, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. O'Brien was an Air Force veteran and a former Cumberland County
sheriff's deputy and worked for the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles Law
Enforcement before retiring. He was a member of the First Ward Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a librarian at the Family
History Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints on Scotty Hill Road by Bishop Miles Nowitzky,
Elder Karl Wheatley and Patriarch D. Russell-Miller. Burial will be in
Lafayette Memorial Park.
Mr. O'Brien is survived by his wife, Emily W. O'Brien of Fayetteville;
a daughter, Denise O. Vogt of Fayetteville; three brothers, Nelson T. O'Brien,
Cecil R. O'Brien and Pat O'Brien, all of Fayetteville; and two granddaughters.

ERNUL - Retired Air Force Staff Sgt. John W. Cameron, 73, of 2950 Hillsneck
Road, formerly of Erwin, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, in Craven Regional
Medical Center in New Bern.
Mr. Cameron served in the military for 23 years.

A Headquarters Facility in Erwin by Elder Elizabeth Harris. Burial will

Medical Center, where she worked for 43 years. She was a member of the
Daughters of the American Revolution and Antioch Presbyterian Church, where
she was an elder and a member of Presbyterian Women of the Church.

MAXTON - Eugene Slocum, 82, of 471 J.W. Graham Road, died Friday, Aug.
16, 2002, in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Slocum was an Army veteran of World War II.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Kingdom Hall Jehovah's
Witness in Red Springs by Brother David McLamb. Burial will be in Piney
Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Slocum is survived by his wife, Margaret G. Slocum; five sons,
McArthur Slocum of Bogalusa, La., Anthony Slocum of New York, Ronnie Slocum
of Jersey City, N.J., Eugene Slocum Jr. of Raleigh and Mark Slocum of Charlotte;
two daughters, Gilda Davis of Columbus, Ohio, and Laura Norris of Red Springs;
two brothers, Albert Slocum and Clinton Slocum, both of Bridgeport, Conn.;
three sisters, Vera Ward of Bogalusa, Juanita Draughn of Zanesville, Ohio,
and Hilda Davis of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

SOUTHERN PINES - Mrs. Geraldine Hope Cheatham Huggins, of Southern
Pines, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital
in Pinehurst.
Mrs. Huggins was a waitress at the Elks Club for several years before
retiring.
No services will be held.
Mrs. Huggins is survived by two sons, Michael A. Huggins of Summerville,
S.C., and Bill Strickland of Southern Pines; a daughter, Mary Anne Cushman
of Southern Pines; a brother, Jimmy Cheatham of Vass; two sisters, Joan
Ryan of Pinehurst and Libby Lucas of Southern Pines; six grandchildren;
