CLINTON -- Cleophus Bowden, 72, of 60 Cleophus Lane, died Saturday
in Sampson Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Morning Star Holy
Church by the Rev. Lloyd Butler and Bishop Willie Pittman. Burial will
be in Sandhill Cemetery.
Mr. Bowden is survived by his wife, Bernestine Bowden of the home;
two sons, Cleophus Bowden Jr. and Terry Bowden, both of Washington, D.C.;
three daughters, Katha DeBellotte of Clinton, Barbara Raspberry of the
home and Brenda Bowden of Washington; three brothers, Woodrow Bowden, Johnny
Bowden and Jody Bowden, all of Clinton; two sisters, Betty Harmon of Newton
Grove and Minnie Everette of Clinton; and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Dorsey is survived by her husband, Charles L. Dorsey of the home;

of Fayetteville; two brothers, Frank Boone of Maryland and Charles Boone
of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Elvira Williams of Clinton; and five grandchildren.

SOUTHERN PINES -- Ms. Diana Drinkwater, 60, of Southern Pines, died
Wednesday in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Ms. Drinkwater was a corporate lawyer for several years and taught
in the paralegal department at Sandhills Community College. She was a member
of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Our Savior Lutheran
Church by the Rev. Scott Homesley. Arrangements are being handled by Boles

Ms. Drinkwater is survived by two sons, Michal W. Hall of Orlando,

PINEHURST -- Mrs. Marjorie S. Heller, 80, of Pinehurst, died Wednesday

Mrs. Heller was a Navy veteran of World War II and served three terms
on the Pinehurst Village Council. She was a member of Congregational Church
of Pinehurst for several years and the American Association of University
Women.

FLORENCE, S.C. -- Mrs. Jewel Clifton Thomas, 82, of Methodist Manor,
formerly of Elizabethtown, N.C., died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002.

Methodist Church by the Revs. Donald Warren and Fred Davis. Burial will
be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by a daughter, Angelyn T. Bridgers of Florence,
S.C.; a son, Michael G. Thomas of Richmond, Va.; and three grandchildren.

ELLENBORO -- John Norman Davis Sr., 76, of Emma Drive, died Saturday,
Aug. 3, 2002, in Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Davis was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Race Path
Baptist Church. He retired from Kemit Corp.
The funeral was conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Race Path Baptist Church
by the Revs. John Godfrey, Barry Goodman and Bo Wagner. Burial was in the

Mr. Ingold was an Army Air Corps veteran and a retired teacher. He
was a member of American Legion Post 12 and a past member of the Fire District
Board and the Carthage Jaycees.
