|Ms. Kimberly Bower
CHARLOTTE - Kimberly Taylor Bower, 30, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held this evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Derita Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service with the Rev. James Murray officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 9 p.m.
Kimberly was born in Raleigh, March 21, 1970, daughter of E.C. "Woody" Bower, Jr. and Jean D. Bower of Olmstead Falls, Ohio. She was a graduate of the University of Arizona and was employed with Delta Plastics Corp. of North Carolina.
Survivors in addition to her parents include two sisters, Brooks Bower of Charlotte and Jennifer Lablanc of Tucson, Ariz; paternal grandparents, E.C. "Bub" Bower Sr. and Dorothy Bower of Concord; one nephew, Nicholas Bower of Tucson, Ariz.; and one niece, Savannah Lablanc of Tucson, Ariz.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Charlotte Chapter, 1628 Morehead St., Charlotte, N.C. 28207.
Mrs. Lois Erwin
PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - Lois Elizabeth Lee Erwin, 96, of 182 Braelinn Ct., formerly of Concord, died Monday, June 12, 2000 at Fayette Community Hospital.
Services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth Craig will officiate.
Born November 8, 1903, in Sardis, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Caldwell Hagood and Sallie Cora Askins Lee. She was a retired school teacher of 40 years, and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was married to the late A. R. Erwin.
Survivors include her daughter, Emily Lee Erwin Street of Peachtree City, Ga.; one son, Albert Rick Erwin of Madison, Wis.; three grandchildren, Major Jonathan E. Sweet of Alexandria, Va., Nathan Sweet of Atlanta, Ga., and Christy L. Erwin of Seattle, Wash.; and three great grandchildren.

Mr. Gordon Freeley
KANNAPOLIS - Gordon John Freeley, 69, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Northeast Medical Center.
Services will be today at 10 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Salisbury. Military rites will be provided by the Rowan Veterans Council. The Rev. Donald E. Burleyson will officiate.
Born December 16, 1930, in Utica, N.Y., he was the son of the late Roscoe and Beatrice Williams Freeley. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953. He was a former grocery store owner in Whitesboro, N.Y. before moving here in 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Stalley Freeley; two sons, John Gordon Freeley and his wife Suzanne of Whitesboro, N.Y., and Greg Daniel Freeley and his wife Pamela of Charlotte; three daughters, Bobbi Eileen Bush of Booneville, N.Y., Leslie Marie Ball and her husband James of Utica, N.Y., and Kimberly Anne Freeley and friend Michael J. Kessler of New Hartford, N.Y.; two brothers, Richard Earl Freeley of Whitesboro, N.Y., and Gerald Carl Freeley of Willow, Ala.; and one sister, Edna Mae Brown Of Liverpool, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va. 23058-5216.

Mr. Lewis Gamble
KANNAPOLIS - Lewis Heath Gamble, 91, of 711 Irene Ave., died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at his home after a six week health decline.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Memorial Baptist Church in Kannapolis. The Rev. Don Davis and the Rev. Steve Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Whitley's Funeral Home.
Born April 3, 1909 in Union County, he was the son of the late Smiley and Ruby Godfrey Gamble. He was employed for 21 years with the Kannapolis City Schools until his retirement in 1974. In earlier years he worked for Kannapolis Construction Company and also formerly with Cannon Mills Plant 4. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday school, former chairman of the trustees, R.A.'s, nursing home ministry, and other phases of church activities.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary McManus Gamble on Nov. 2, 1994.
Survivors include three daughters, Alice Rogers Alward and Pauline Haithcock, both of Kannapolis, and Judy Joyner of Concord; one brother, Joe Gamble of Concord; seven grandchildren, Steven Rodgers and his wife Diane, Paula Wagner and her husband Ronnie, Robin Haithcock, Timothy Haithcock and his wife Tina, Todd Haithcock and his wife Kristi, Keith Joyner and his wife Carolyn, and Susan Carter and her husband Michael; 11 great-grandchildren, Beth Poteat and her husband Ben, Jason Wagner, Sara Rogers, Ashley Haithcock, Jeremy Wagner, Hailey Haithcock, Mickey Carter, Tyler Carter, Casey Haithcock, Ivy Joyner, and Courtney Haithcock; and on great-great-grandchild, Brooke Poteat.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Haithcock, Todd Haithcock, Keith Joyner, Michael Carter, Steven Rogers, Jason Wagner, and Jeremy Wagner.

KANNAPOLIS - James Lloyd Jordan, 58, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000.
Services will be today at 1 p.m. at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home in Chesterfield, S.C. Burial will be at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Smith Jordan; Two sons, Paul Jordan of the home and Otis Jordan of Charlotte; four daughters, Zelda J. Corne of New London, Stephanie J. Teal and Sheila J. Teal both of Patrick, S.C., and Shirley J. Deese of Cassatt, S.C.; three half brothers, Charles Hancock of Hartsville, S.C., and Jerry Gibson and Mickey Gibson both of Lancaster, S.C.; and 15 grandchildren.

Mrs. Elizabeth Millsaps
KANNAPOLIS - Elizabeth Estelle Jordan Millsaps, 82, of 332 Vance Ave., died Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Hunter Woods Nursing Home in Charlotte.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born April 27, 1918, in Jefferson, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Richard W. and Levada Thomas Jordan. She was retired from the Swink plant of Cannon Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ralph Millsaps, and a foster son, Douglas G. Lunsford.
Survivors include her foster son Steven Barnhardt of Salisbury; and three sisters, Clara Mae Winecoff and Rosie Summers of Kannapolis, and Cora Lee Rufty of Hampton, Va.
Mrs. Beatrice Sprinkle
KANNAPOLIS - Beatrice Helms Weddington Sprinkle, 87, formerly of West 16th St., Kannapolis, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Big Elm Retirement Center.

Mrs. Sadie Tucker
CHARLOTTE - Sadie Conner Tucker, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 22, 1910, in Cabarrus County, N.C., a daughter of the late Walter and Mary McEachern Conner. She was a homemaker and a member of Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church, the Joy Outlook Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Tucker, co-owner of the former Mitcheum & Tucker Candy Co. and four brothers, Clarence Conner, Newt Conner, Ernest Conner, and Ira Conner.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tucker will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church, 501 Hawthorne Lane, with the Rev. James M. Armstrong Jr. and the Rev. Jeff Coppage officiating. Entombment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. tonight at Harry & Bryant Chapel, 500 Providence Road.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by two sisters, Anna "Jackie" Dixon and her husband, Weston, of Charlotte and Mary Lee Abernethy of Midland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harry & Bryant Co. is serving the family of Mrs. Tucker.

Mrs. Rachel Alford
RALEIGH - Rachel Pearce Alford, 77, of 2300 Beechridge Road, Raleigh, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, following six years of declining health.
She was born in Pilot, Franklin County, and was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she served faithfully.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Floyd Shelby Alford, two daughters, Beverly of Burlington and Annette and her husband Jack Garvey of Greensboro and daughter-in-law. Julia Webb Alford of Kannapolis. She was preceded in death by her son, Floyd Alford Jr., her parents Corinna and Clyde Pearce and sister LaRue Hudgins. She has five grandchildren, Zack, Meredith and Benjamin Alford of Kannapolis and Jack Jr. and Charlotte Garvey of Greensboro, two brothers, James and David Pearce of Pilot, three sisters, Cherrie Averitt of Raleigh, Louise Griffin of Elizabeth City and Teenie Wilder of Louisburg.
Sincere appreciation goes to all who have helped in so many ways during her illness and especially to care givers Mildred Johnson, Annie Gay, Alton and Willowdean Strickland.
Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2100 Noble Road, Raleigh, at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends in the vestibule following the service and other times at the home. Graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. at the Alford-Upchurch cemetery in Pilot. Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Pilot Baptist Church annex.

KANNAPOLIS - Ruby Furr Bernard, 78, of 718 Margate Ave., Kannapolis, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at her home.

Born Aug. 3, 1922, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Lester James and Iva Brines Furr. She was a member of Rocky River Presbyterian Church and was retired from 7-11 convenience stores.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joan B. Shuster and husband Rick of Kannapolis; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Born April 6, 1928, in Syracuse, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late William Hard and Florence Sterling Hard. She was a homemaker.

SALISBURY- Terina A. Thompson Ford, 38, of 1614 Standish St., Apt. 9-B, Salisbury, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at her residence.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she was a former member. The Rev. John E. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Rutherford Cemetery, Concord.

She was a daughter of James Ford and Minnie Hailey Ford. She was employed at Pillowtex Fieldcrest Cannon.

STANFIELD - Grady Lee Love, 79, of 8556 Honeycutt Rd., Stanfield, died Aug. 14, 2000, at 6:08 p.m. at his home.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hartsell Funeral Chapel in Midland. Burial will be at Kinza Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Tom Ziegler and Pastor Jim White will officiate.

Born July 28, 1921, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Lonnie S. and Ethel Scott Love. He was a retired carpenter and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Kinza Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ruth Troutman Love.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Vicky L. Smith and her husband,
Steve, of Sunset Beach; four brothers, Bob, Clyde, Wayne, and Brown Love
all of Stanfield; two sisters, Mrs. Peggy Long of Stanfield and Mrs. Carolyn
Carlise of Concord; two grandchildren, Stephanie Teeter and Kelly Howard;
