MINNEAPOLIS -- Robert Edward Allison Jr., 46, of 2nd Ave., Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Kannapolis, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, in Minneapolis.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Clark Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Urn Gardens. The Rev. Michael J. Massey will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the chapel Sunday at 1 p.m.
Born July 30, 1955, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Robert E. Allison Sr. and the late Bernice Kiser Allison. 
Survivors include a son, Corey L. Springs of Kannapolis; a granddaughter, Nautica Springs of Greensboro; six aunts, Eleanor K. Butler and Lillian Rose, both of Kannapolis, Margaret K. Branch of Horseheads, N.Y., Lola K. Gilmore of St. Albans, N.Y.; and Juanita Stinson of Bronx, N.Y.; and two uncles, William H. Kiser of Stone Mountain, Ga., and James Kiser of Blue Creek, N.C.

Mr. David Davis
SALISBURY -- David Perry Davis, 58, of 240 Swink Ave., Salisbury, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lane Street Baptist Church, Kannapolis. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. Dr. Greg Pierce will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born Sept. 7, 1943, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of John J.D. Davis of Kannapolis, and the late Sue Childers Davis. He owned and operated Dave's Homes in Salisbury. He was a member of Lane Street Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife, Virginia O'Neal Davis; two daughters, Donna Davis Hines of Salisbury, and Penny Sarno of Kannapolis; two sons, John Dwight Davis II of Salisbury, and David Perry Davis Jr. of Polkton, N.C.; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Don Joines
KANNAPOLIS -- Don Franklin Joines, 85, of Kannapolis, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Avante at Concord.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Billy Honeycutt will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Born Feb. 3, 1916, in Wilkes County, N.C., he was the son of the late James Thomas Joines and the late Annie Mae Childers Joines. He retired April 3, 1978, from Cannon Mills Co. plant one, No. 2 weave room after 48 years of service. He was a member of Landis Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Pennell Joines, on March 6, 1999.
Mr. Joines is survived by his brother, Clegg Joines, and his wife, Virginia, of Kannapolis.

Miss Brenda Little
CONCORD -- Brenda Kay Little, 25, of 6209 Hardwood Lane, Concord, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Plaza Mausoleum. The Rev. Bennie Burgess will officiate.

Born Aug. 13, 1976, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of Fred Howard Little of Concord and Tuyet Thi Little of Kannapolis. She was a 1994 graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School.
Survivors in addition to her parents are a brother, David Little of Concord; uncles, Roy Junior Little and wife Patsy of Concord, Ray Little and wife Shelby of Concord, Tony Joe Little and wife Judy of Charlotte and Larry Little and wife Linda of Garden Grove, Calif.; aunts, Helen Diorio and husband Frank of Kannapolis and Patricia Barrier and husband Clyde of Mount Pleasant; and half-sister, Kim Lynn of Concord.

CONCORD -- Albert Ernest Wagner, 81, of 820 Siesta Court, Concord, died at NorthEast Medical Center. Wilkinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Adams
MOORESVILLE -- Mary Kathryn Upright Adams, 94, of 5970 N.C. 152 W., Mooresville, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at her home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the church. The Rev. Wayne Sip and the Rev. Carl Haynes will officiate.
Visitation was held Friday night from 7 to 8:30 at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove.
Born July 7, 1907, in Mooresville, she was the daughter of the late Mary Louise Foutz Upright and the late David Eli Upright. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and Women of the ELCA. She was also a Sunday School teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Butler Adams Sr., on Dec. 8, 1987.
Survivors include her seven sons, Frank E. Adams, Larry E. Adams and Clyde B. Adams, all of Mooresville, Hubert R. Adams and Billy L. Adams, both of China Grove, Paul T. Adams of Kannapolis and Donald W. Adams of Amelia, Va.; four daughters, Evelyn Smith of New London, Janette McDonald of Mooresville, Joanne Haynes and Carolyn Morrow, both of China Grove; 33 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Thedus Barringer
LOCUST -- Thedus Eudy Barringer, 85, of Locust, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Eden Gardens of Concord.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Hartsell Funeral Chapel in Midland. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Locust. The Rev. Rick McIntee will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 4 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland.
Born Sept. 26, 1916 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Florence Osborne and Henry Starley Eudy. She was a school teacher for Cabarrus and Stanly County School systems for 43 years. She was a member of Locust Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin E. Barringer.
Survivors include two nieces, Joyce Beatty and Janice Mansfield, both of Midland and a nephew, Ronald Eudy and wife Marion of Concord.

Mr. Roger Connell II
ROCKWELL -- Roger Dale Connell II, 35, of 5830-B Highway 152 East, Rockwell, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Rowan Regional Medical Center as a result of an automobile accident.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Bill Cutshaw will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at their respective homes.
Born Sept. 7, 1966 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of Roger Dale Connell I of Concord and the late Linda Mae Trexler Connell. He was employed with World Custom Homes in Salisbury. He was educated in the Kannapolis City Schools and attended Holy Power Church in Rockwell.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Shane Moore Alexander.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include a daughter, Samantha Mae Connell of Salisbury; a son, Roger Dale Connell III of Salisbury; several cousins, aunts, and uncles, including Reid and Lucille Bost of Rockwell.

Mr. Jonathan Gross
SPENCER -- Jonathan David Gross, 22, of Spencer, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He had been in declining health for a year and a half.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Oakdale Baptist Church. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Needmore Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodleaf. The Dr. Kenneth Walters of Rowan Baptist Association will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Summersett Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence in Spencer.
Born April 18, 1979 in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Wanda Brown Gross and Rev. Richard A. Gross of Spencer. He was educated in Washington County, Md. schools and graduated from Faith Christian Academy in Martinsburg, WV. and York Technical Institute in York, Pa., where he received an Associate Degree as a Computer Systems Specialist. He was employed as a Computer Systems Specialist at Pillowtex's Data Center in Kannapolis. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and was active in the Graduate & Career Bible Study Fellowship.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his maternal grandmother, Jeanette McDaniel Brown of Woodleaf and his paternal grandparents, Howard and Audrey Eichelberger Gross of Joppa, Md.

Mrs. Evelyn Jordan
KANNAPOLIS -- Evelyn Fielder Jordan, 68, of Kannapolis and formerly of Rural Retreat, Va., passed away at her home on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Asbury United Methodist Church in Cedar Springs, Va. with burial following at the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.
The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis, NC from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Blanche Harrington Fielder of Rural Retreat, Va.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur L. Jordan; a daughter, Carolyn L. Collao of Miami, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, William D. and Jane Langston of Gold Hill and Kenley A. and Rhnea Langston of Rural Retreat, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Eula Fielder of Rural Retreat, Va.; step-daughter and husband, Katie and Benny Robbins of Rockingham; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew. She also leaves behind a host of friends, neighbors, and other family members who loved her dearly.
Mrs. Jordan was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church in Kannapolis. She was a former member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Cedar Springs, Va. She has previously been the pianist at both of her churches as well as Pleasant Ave. Baptist Church in Kannapolis. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Paul Schafer
CONCORD -- Paul C. Schafer, 83, of Concord and formerly of Shimer Manor, Phillipsburg, N.J., died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at NorthEast Medical Center.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 830 5th Avenue, Alpha, N.J. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton Streets, Easton, Pa.
Born June 30, 1918 in Easton, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles Schafer and Jennie Fulmer Schafer. He had been employed be Ecolaire, Easton for sic years before retiring in 1980. Prior to that he was employed by Ingersoll-Rand in West Easton and Phillipsburg, N.J. for forty years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alpha, N.J. and St. Jane's Catholic Church in Concord. He was also a member of the Knights' of Columbus, Warren Council #474; St. Mary's Holy Name Society in Alpha, N.J.; Phillipsburg Area Chapter #4704, AARP; and Green Oaks Golf Club in Riegelsville, Pa. He was a World War II Navy veteran of the pacific theatre He had received the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. He was a graduate of Easton High School Class of 1937.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Schoenek Schafer, who died in 1987; his daughter, Carol Ann Schafer, who died in 1974; and a brother, John.
Survivors include a son, Keith Schafer of Concord; two sisters, Arlene South of Harmony, N.J. and Catherine George of Wilson Borough, Pa.; and two grandsons.

Mr. Michael Chavis
CHINA GROVE -- Michael E. Chavis, 53, of 515 Kirk Street, China Grove, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at his home after declining health for six months.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The Revs. Curtis Parker, Dean Hunter, and Arthur Heggins will officiate.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home on Kirk Street.
Born Nov. 30, 1947 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Foster Chavis and Eloise Snipes Chavis of Kannapolis. He was self-employed with Michael E. Chavis Electric Co. and a member of Central Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the US Army Vietnam War from March 1969 to March 1973.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Darlene Hunter Chavis; two sons, David M. Chavis and his wife Jennifer of Concord and Jason E. Chavis of China Grove; a brother, Sandy W. Chavis of Charlotte; and six sisters, Nancy Butler of Enochville, Mary Kendall of China Grove, Pat Stewart of Red Bay, Ala., and Linda Chavis, Christy Davis, and Janet Beaver, all of Kannapolis.

KANNAPOLIS -- James Wesley Hancock, 84, of 806 Bostian Ave., Kannapolis, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Universal Health Care after two months of declining health.

Born Sept. 7, 1917 in Chesterfield County, S.C., he was the son of the late Robert Lester Hancock and Daisy Rollins Hancock. He was a retired employee of Cannon Mills Plant #1 after 49 years of service. He was a member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carnelle H. Hancock; his son, Jimmy Hancock and wife, Vera, of Kannapolis; five sisters, Billie Jean Knight of Pageland, S.C., Myrtle Jordan of Mt. Crogan, S.C., Dorothy Gullege, Kathleen Baker and Grace Hancock, all of Kannapolis; three brothers, Fred Hancock of Lancaster, S.C., Elbert Hancock of Pageland, S.C., and A.D. Hancock of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Sherry Cunning, Chris Hancock, Angie Fulford and Pam Hamby; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Born Nov. 5, 1925 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Mabel Taylor Horton and Carl Horton. He was an inventory controller for West Port Containers and a member of Roberta Baptist Church in Concord. He also served in the US Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mildred Little Horton of the home; a son, Gary W. Horton and his wife Susan of Concord; a daughter, Shelby Jean Morgan and her husband Rick of Concord; three grandchildren, Angie Haigler and husband Chris, Brandy Horton, and Robbie Horton; a sister, Sue H. Hill and her husband Roy of Concord; two brothers, Foy K. Horton and his wife Mildred of Concord and Ray Horton and his wife Opal of Mt. Born July 13, 1962 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Robert Maxwell and Lois Mae Barnhardt Maxwell of Kannapolis. He was the manager of Marshalls Dept. Store.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his former wife, Mary C. Maxwell of Frankfort, Ky.; a son, Raheem Joseph Calhoun Maxwell of Frankfort, Ky.; a sister, Karen M. Denning of Laurinburg, NC.; two brothers, Derrick Maxwell of Kannapolis and Keith Maxwell of Kentucky; a grandmother, Ruby M.
