Mrs. Carol L. Hill

HAW RIVER - Mrs. Carol Love Hill 67 of 760 Baker Drive died at 8:52 p.m. Saturday Feb. 7 1998, at home after 10 years of failing health and a critical illness of three weeks.

A Guilford County native, she was the wife of Mr. Phillip Lewis Hall, who survives, and the daughter of Mrs. Thelma Estelle Curtis Love, who survives, and the late Mr. Lacy Lee Love. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Bible Baptist Church.

Survivors other than her husband of the home and mother of Burlington include two sons, Mr. Scott Phillip Hill of the home and Mr. Mark Lewis Hill of Burlington and one grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bible Baptist Church by Dr. Tommy Richardson, pastor. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at McClure Funeral Home in Graham and at other times at the home.

Mr. Kenneth D. Perry

BURLINGTON - Mr. Kenneth Durant Perry, 80, of 1907 South Mebane St., died at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at home after several years of failing health and a critical illness of one month.

An Alamance County native, he was the husband of 57 years of Mrs. Thelma Crutchfield Perry, who survives, and the son of Mr. Neppie N. Perry and Mrs. Lillie Smith Perry, both deceased. He was raised by his late grandmother, Mrs. Emma Perry Troxler. He was employed by McCuiston Hosiery, Adams-Millis, Carlee Hosiery and was retired from Annedeen Hosiery. He was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Reformed Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class and held positions of elder, deacon and trustee.

Survivors other than his wife include one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Cheryl Perry) Dorety of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Mr. Garland D. Perry of Graham; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Mr. Hedrick N. Perry.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's Reformed Church by the Rev. Robert M. Disher Jr. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington and at other times at the home.

Mr. Joseph Holt

GRAHAM - Mr. Joseph Holt, 63, of 622 Johnson Ave., died at 4 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Duke University Medical Center after a critical illness of three weeks.

An Alamance County native, he was the husband of Mrs. Melba Hinshaw Holt, who survives, and the son of Mr. Kuhl Holt and Mrs. Agnes Layton Holt, both deceased. He was retired project manager of Holt Construction Co. and a construction consultant for Alley, Williams, Carman & King.

A 1957 graduate of Florida State University, he was co-captain of the FSU football team in 1956 and 1957. He was a member of the men's chorus and the Carolina Golf Association and the Florida State University Alumni Association. He was a retired member of the Graham Volunteer Fire Department, and a charter member of Quarry Hills Country Club and a member of Graham Presbyterian Church.

Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Ms. Ruth Anglis Holt of Los Angeles; a son, Mr. Joseph Kuhl Holt of Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. Martha Holt Moffitt of Mebane; and a brother, Mr. Jon David Holt of Raleigh.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Franz Kuhl Holt.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Graham Presbyterian Church by Dr. William C. Weckerly, pastor, and the Rev. Janie Frederick, pastor of Unity Church of Today. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday night at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham and other times at the home. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Mrs. Francis Rhodes

GRAHAM - Mrs. Francis Thompson Rhodes, 78, of 405 Ward St., died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

A native of Connecticut, she was the wife of Mr. Harold Rhodes, who survives. She was a retired school teacher at Altamahaw-Ossipee Elementary School, a member of Graham Presbyterian Church and was active in the Girl Scouts of America.

Survivors other than her husband of the home include two sons, Mr. Robert J. Rhodes of Cary and Mr. James Rhodes of Cleveland, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home in Graham by Dr. William C. Weckerly, pastor of Graham Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at McClure Funeral Home in Graham and at other times at the home.

Mr. Allen Hodges

EDEN - Mr. Allen Gwynn Hodges, 44, of 837 Moir Mill Road, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at his home.

A Caswell County native, he was the son of Mr. Robert Hodges and Mrs. Edith McKinney Hodges, both deceased. He was Baptist and a construction worker.

Survivors include one son, Mr. William Allen Hodges of Yanceyville; one sister, Ms. Jeannie Barham of Eden; four brothers, Mr. Roger Hodges of Eden, Mr. Lee Hodges of Danville, Mr. Alton Hodges and Mr. James Hodges, both of Ruffin, and Mr. Timothy Hodges of Reidsville; and one stepson, Mr. Rodney Stephen Orr of Yanceyville.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Wade Kirby Hodges; and two half brothers, Mr. William T. Hodges and Mr. Robert N. ``Pop Eye'' Hodges.

The memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hooper Funeral Home in Yanceyville by the Rev. Frank Bowers.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home and at other times at the home of the son, Mr. William Allen Hodges, 2341 U.S. 158 East and at the home of a sister, Ms. Jeannie Barham, 817 Moir Mill Road, Eden.

Mrs. Martha W. Myers

PFAFFTOWN - Mrs. Martha Leanna Wilson Myers, 97, of 3368 Transou Road died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 28, 1900, in Pfafftown, she was the wife of Mr. Hubert Grady Myers Sr., who died Oct. 17, 1947, and the daughter of Mr. George Follett Wilson and Mrs. Ella Francesca Spauch Wilson, both deceased. She was valedictorian of her Bethania High School class of 1920. She taught piano for many years. She was one of the oldest members of Pfafftown Christian Church and was active as long as health permitted.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert J. (Martha) Lilly of Burlington; a son, Mr. George W. Myers of the home; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Hubert Grady Myers Jr.; two brothers, Mr. Virgil A. Wilson and Mr. George Harold Wilson; and a sister, Ms. Sadie Follett Wilson.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pfafftown Christian Church by the Rev. Tom Everton. Burial will be in Pfafftown Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel and other times at the home.

Mrs. Matilda J. Carroll

MEBANE - Mrs. Matilda Jones Carroll, 97, of 414 South Fourth St. died at 6:35 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two years of declining health.

A Wayne County native, she was the wife of the late Mr. Joseph John Carroll and the daughter of Mr. Edward Franklin Jones and Mrs. Sarah Jane Wethington Jones, both deceased. She was a housewife and a member of First Baptist Church in Mebane. A graduate of Women's College in Greensboro with a music degree, she was a former member of the choir and a pianist. She was a member of the Eva Jeffreys Sunday School Class and a former member of the Mebane Music Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jane Brooks C. McCoy of Berkeley, Calif.; a son, Mr. Joe Carroll of Mebane; a sister, Mrs. Frances J. Tharrington of Louisburg; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Emma Lee Jones Smith and Mrs. Louise J. Corbett; and one brother, Mr. J. Marvin Jones.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane by the Rev. Marvin Simpson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Tuesday night at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane and at other times at the home of Mr. Joe Carroll, 617 South Fifth St., Mebane.

Miss Eleanor F. Walker

BURLINGTON - Miss Eleanor Frances Walker, 81, of 3902 Knox Court, formerly of Graham, died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several weeks of declining health.

A Graham native, she was the daughter of Mr. John Clarence Walker and Mrs. Sallie Bet Hester Walker, both deceased. She was a member of Graham Presbyterian Church and she was a retired bookkeeper.

There are no immediate survivors.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by Dr. William C. Weckerly, pastor of Graham Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at McClure Funeral Home in Graham.
