Edith Baetke

LIBERAL, Mo. -- Edith Baetke, 75, Liberal, died at 7 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2003, at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Baetke was born Feb. 20, 1928, at Maple Valley, Wash., the daughter of Lester and Sarah Clark. She had lived in Liberal for 51 years, moving from Oxnard, Calif. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Baptist Church, Iantha, Mo.

She married Thomas Baetke on Jan. 21, 1948, at Oxnard, Calif., and he preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2001.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Yokley, Liberal, and Mila Swearingin, Cross Timbers, Mo.; two sisters, Mattie Gwinnett and Ethel Simpson, both of the state of Washington; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Herb Baetke, one great-granddaughter and 11 brothers and sisters.

Services wwas held at 10 a.m. today, April 16 at Liberal City Cemetery, Liberal. Arrangements are under the direction of Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar.

Sammy Dale Holder

LARUSSELL, Mo. -- Sammy Dale Holder, 55, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at his residence.

Mr. Holder was born Aug. 16, 1947, at Cobert, Okla., to James Winford and Florence Lovern Jenks Holder. He had moved from Roswell, N.M., to LaRussell 13 years ago. He was an Army veteran of Vietnam and was a welder for Leggett & Platt, Inc., Carthage.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He married Cathy L. Pearce on Dec. 6, 1974, in Roswell, N.M., and she survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Jamie Holder, LaRussell, Melissa Holder, Miller, and Tammy Taylor, Blackshear, Ga.; a son, Steven Dale Holder, Marengo, Iowa; his mother, Florence Lovern Holder, LaRussell; a brother, James Dewayne Holder, LaRussell; two sisters, Velma Sue Hamilton and Linda Howard, both of Miller; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Melba Mobbley.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 under the direction of Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, Miller, with pastor Tony Swillum officiating. Burial will be on the family farm.

I. Geneva Wilson Dick

Graveside services for Geneva Dick, who died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at Paradise Cemetery, south of Jasper. The Rev. Lee Howard officiated.

Arrangements were with Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper.

Mary Ann Thornbrugh

WEBB CITY, Mo. -- Mary Ann Thornbrugh, 90, Webb City, died at 3:25 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2003, at Webb City Health & Rehab following a long illness.

Mrs. Thornbrugh was born Jan. 18, 1913, in Tiff City, Mo., the daughter of the late James and Lena Manning. She had been a lifetime area resident.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Webb City.

She married Ernest Thornbrugh in 1936, and he preceded her in death in 1972.

Survivors include a son, Clyde Thornbrugh, Webb City; a daughter, Linda Ellis, Reeds; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at Mason-Woodard Mortuary Chapel, Joplin. The Rev. Bob Easton will officiate. Burial will be in Seneca Cemetery. The pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visitation will be open during regular visiting hours.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin.

Donald Ralph Blythe Sr.

Graveside funeral services for Donald Ralph Blythe Sr., 66, Goodman, Mo., who died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage. The Rev. Bob Poindexter officiated.

Pallbearers were Bill Connor, Jerry Brown, Donald Grisham, Bob Moorehouse, Tom Periman and Kaye Fullerton. The American Legion Post No. 13 provided full military honors. 

Memorials are suggested to the VFW Post No. 4142, Neosho.

Services were under the direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.

Roleen Johnson Rhine

Roleen Johnson Rhine, 59, Carthage, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

Mrs. Rhine was born Aug. 22, 1943, to Gilbert Roe Gross and Eula Elizabeth Capps. She worked for 32 years for Carmar and the Mayes family in Carthage, retiring in 1997.

She married Richard Rhine, and he survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Monte Johnson and his wife, Cynthia, Carl Junction, and Colby Johnson and his wife, Tiffany, Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Belle Patterson, Jasper, Ilene Elliott, Carl Junction, and Eula Durman, Joplin; and the joy of her life, her granddaughter, Sydney Paige Johnson.

The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 14 at Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage.

Memorials are suggested to the Grace Episcopal Church in care of Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage.

LaRUSSELL, Mo. -- Sammy Dean Holder, 55, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at his residence.

Jack Taylor Crusa

Funeral services for Jack Taylor Crusa, 79, Carthage, who died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at Knell Mortuary Chapel, Carthage.

Tributes and remembrances were given by his daughter, Jan Haas, his son, Jack D. Crusa, and personal friend, Ernie Shank. Full military honors were presented by the Missouri Honor Guard, American Legion Post No. 13, Joplin.

Pallbearers were Bob Foshay, Gene Guest, Don Richmond, Howard Smallwood, Andy Stutzman and John Wise. 

Private family burial will be held at a later date.

Services were under the direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.

Wanda Maxine Jones

IANTHA, Mo. -- Wanda Maxine Jones, 66, Iantha, Mo., died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003, at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Jones was born July 10, 1936, at Jerico Springs, Mo., the daughter of Claude Jones and Sarah Palmer. She lived in the area most of her life and was a homemaker and evangelist.

She was a member of the Bible Holiness Assembly of God, Neosho.

She married Maurice Jones on Jan. 17, 1954, at Iantha, Mo., and he survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Mark T. Jones, Webb City, and Matthew Jones, Export, Pa.; three daughters, Teresa Dayton, Neosho, Ruthanna Monroe, Athens, Texas, and Rachel Salsman, Blanchard, Okla.; a brother, Curtis Jones, Lamar; four sisters, Olive Pyatt and Mary Williams, both of Lamar, Reba Simmons, Irwin, Mo., and Saray White, Borneo, Texas; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at Barton City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Jones, Matthew Jones, Michael Salsman, Randy Monroe, Matthew Dayton and Floyd Paul Dayton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar.
