Dora Anthony
Funeral services for Dora Anthony, 97, Cambridge, formerly of Coon Rapids, 
took place Oct. 14 at Sunset Funeral Chapel, St. Anthony. Rev. Paul 
Reynolds officiated.
Anthony died Oct. 9 at Grandview Nursing Home, Cambridge. She was born 
April 17, 1903 in Goodrich, N.D., to Gottlieb Hertz and Carolyn Beierly.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Lyle Halland 
of Brook Park, Betty and Arthur Monson of Coon Rapids, Dorothy Moore of 
Statesboro, Ga.; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 15 
great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; six great 
great-grandchildren; and one great great great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and three sisters.
Pallbearers were Gordon Gullixson, Kent and Bradley Halland and Ryan 
Kuhlmann.
Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park, St. Anthony. Arrangements were by 
Sunset Funeral Chapel.

Frances Cochran
Memorial services for Frances Armstrong Cochran, 92, Anoka, will take 
place tomorrow Saturday, Oct. 21, 2 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, 
Anoka.
Cochran died Oct. 14 at Trevilla Nursing Rehab Center, New Brighton. She 
was born July 16, 1908 in St. Paul. She was a retired Anoka High School 
teacher, and a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and the Anoka 
Philolectian Club, and a life member of Phi Mu Fraternity.
She is survived by her caregivers, Cheryl Ekblad and James Wennerlund.
Interment will be private. Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of 
Minnesota.

Thomas J. Elliott
Memorial services for Thomas J. Elliott, 65, St. Paul, will take place 
tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 21) at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 
Minneapolis. Rev. Tom Margevicius will officiate.
Elliott died Oct. 16 in St. Paul. He was born May 17, 1935 in St. Paul. He 
was a cabinet maker.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters, Nona (Andrew) Rogers, Anna 
(Jeff) Elliott; grandchildren, Cody, Sami, Ehrin and Alli; brother, Jack 
(Sandy) Elliott; sister, Anita (Roland) Brown; nieces and nephews; and 
other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Elliott.
Interment will be at Hillside Memorium, Minneapolis. Arrangements are by 
Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids.

Charles T. Elmer
Funeral services for Charles T. Elmer, 70, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 13 
at Coon Rapids United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Miller officiated.
Elmer died Oct. 10 in Robbinsdale. He was born April 10, 1930 in 
Robbinsdale and was a service station employee.
He is survived by his children, Jody (Douglas) O’Dell; Jackie (Gary) 
Follmer, Leslie (Larry) Milander; grandchildren, Michael (Jamie) Hess, 
Justin Hess, Nicole and Charlie Follmer; great-grandchild, Ashley Hess; 
brother, Delroy (Phyllis) Elmer; and sister-in-law, Jean Franz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Elmer.
Interment was private at Crystal Lake Cemetery. Arrangements were by

Barbara J. Gross
Funeral services for Barbara J. “Budan” Gross, 44, Ham Lake, took place 
Oct. 16 at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa. Revs. Jerry 
Blake and Jim Kean officiated.
Gross died Oct. 13 at Mercy Medical Center, Dyersville, Iowa. She was born 
Jan. 25, 1956 in Dyersville, Iowa, to Victor and Mary Jo (Tauke) Budan. 
She was an administrative assistant with Duke Financial and a member of 
the Sweet Adelines Twin Cities Chorus.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; sons, Chris and Tad; parents, Victor 
and Mary Jo Budan of Dyersville; sister, Lee Ann (Bob) Krapfl of Dubuque, 
Iowa; brothers, Tom Budan (fiancee Sara Emeis) of Oconomowoc, Wis., and 
Mike (Amy) Budan of Dubuque; grandparents, Leo and Dorothy Tauke of 
Dyersville; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Margaret Gross of 
Bowie, Md.; sister-in-law, Carol (Dan) Griffin of St. Augustine, Fla; and 
brother-in-law, Terrance Gross of Kent Island, Md.

Elizabeth Gruber
Funeral services for Elizabeth Louise “Betty Lou” Gruber, 78, Anoka, took 
place Oct. 13 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated.
Gruber died Oct. 9 at North Residential Hospice Home, Brooklyn Center. She 
was born March 8, 1922 in Willmar to Oscar and Florence (Magnuson) 
Pearson. She was a retired elementary school principal’s secretary in 
District 11.
She is survived by her husband, Clemens; daughter, Kristin; son and 
daughter-in-law, Rolf and Cindy; grandchildren, Dena, Erik and Tim; and 
brothers, John and William Pearson.

Jacob ‘Jake’ Heller
Funeral services for Jacob Timothy Heller, 50, Andover, took place Oct. 12

Heller died Oct. 8 in Longville. He was born in Minneapolis to Jacob and 
Lois Heller. He was an electrician.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine; sons, Jason, Justin, and Nathan; 
parents, Jacob and Lois Heller; brother, John; and sister, Jackie.

Funeral services for Lester J. Knott, 70, Ramsey, took place Oct. 14 at

Knott died Oct. 11 at Mercy Hospital. He was born Dc. 18, 1929 in 
Minneapolis to Gustave R. Knott and Agnes C. Schmitz. He was sheet metal 
worker and World War II veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Delores; children, Denise Utoft and husband 
Rob, Leslie Knott, Rodney Knott and wife Karen, Beth Feverstron and 
husband Scott; grandchildren, Tony, Angie, Jeremy, Matt, Jason, Heather, 
Kimberlee, Joseph, Megan and Lauren; great-grandson, Cullen; brothers,

Marie A. Peterson

Peterson died Oct. 11. She was born Dec. 11, 1918 in Eveleth to John 
Ciagne and Lena Jedda. She was a retired administrative assistant.
She is survived by her son, Mark Peterson; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy 
and Donald Brown; and brothers, Raymond Ciagne and wife Mary Louise.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth.
Interment will be at Eveleth Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements were

Abilene A. Starbuck
Funeral services for Abilene S. Starbuck, 83, Anoka, took place Oct. 16 at 
First Baptist Church of Anoka. Rev. Lee Wilcox officiated.
Starbuck died Oct. 12 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1917 in St. 
Paul to Herman J. Bergslien and Alma S. Brenberg. She was a retired 
District 11 school teacher.
She is survived by her husband, Cloyd; daughters, Cheryl Hughes of San 
Diego, Calif., and Gloria Holcomb of Downington, Pa.; granddaughters, Lisa 
Holcomb of Lantaha, Fla., and Lindsay Holcomb of Greenville, N.C.; and 
cousins, Robert (Bob) Johnson and wife Charlotte, Evelyn Rainer and 
husband Walt, Harriet Bune, Don Jelmeland, Dick Bune, Barbara Lee, Velma 
Carlson and husband Clarence, Minda Bertilrud and husband Selvin, Gloria 
Mathre and husband Paul, Virginia Kustrick and Merry Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Alma Bergslien; and 
brother, George.

Kenneth E. Walton
Funeral services for Kenneth E. “Kenny” Walton, 61, Cedar, took place Oct. 
19 at Thurston-Lindberg Chapel, Anoka.
Walton died Oct. 16 at Unity Hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1938 in Hancock 
to Arthur and Anna (Kaussan) Walton.
He is survived by his wife, Barb; children, Troy Walton of Hopkins, Laurie 
(Tarryl) Herting and Randy (Matthew) Saapa, all of Isanti, Bradley Ryman 
of Cedar; seven grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and numerous 
nieces and nephews.
Interment was at Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Arrangements

Ronald Anderson
Funeral services for Ronald Anderson, 72, Anoka, took place Oct. 6 at 
Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Dennis Glad officiated.
Anderson died Oct. 3 in Anoka. He was born Sept. 2, 1928 in St. Francis, 
and was employed in the trucking industry for 48 years as a driver and 
dispatcher.
He is survived by his wife, Deniece; sons, Thomas (Joann) and Michael 
(Bonnie); daughter, Rhonda (Edwin) Neuberger; grandchildren, Sarah, 
Christopher and Melissa; and sister, Beverly Budnick.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, LaFaye and John 
Daher; and brother, James Budnick.
Pallbearers were Ken Small, Rick and Brent Budnick, Jeff C. and John 
Daher, Howie and Jack Jr. Reynolds and Danny Laur.

John Curtis
Funeral services for John Curtis, 80, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 9 at

Curtis died Oct. 4 in Coon Rapids. He was born June 2, 1920 in Draper, 
Wis. He was a retired 20-year employee of Midwest Printing.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne; children, John A. (Linda), Gary L. 
(Deb), LeAnn Rodmyre (Tom); grandchildren, Jennifer Carlson (Tim), Michael 
and Alicia Curtis, Brian and Tim Rodmyre, Joe and Molly Curtis;

Steven ‘Terry’ Dexter
Funeral services for Steven “Terry” Dexter, 67, Coon Rapids, took place 
Oct. 5 at Kapala-Glodek Northeast Chapel, Minneapolis.
Dexter was an active member of the Coon Rapids American Legion and Andover 
Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine “Jean;” daughters, TerryAnn 
(Stephen) Biegler, MaryKay Dexter (Paulette Larson), Kelly (Dean) Roehler; 
sons, Steve and Robert; grandchildren, Jessica, Josh and Tyler Dexter, 
Talesha and Dean Roehler, and Erin and Jason Judge; great-grandchildren, 
Austin Judge, Kayla and Keith Dexter, and Toni Kleindel; brother, Jerry 
Dexter; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and

Kenneth J. Graber
Funeral services for Kenneth Julius Graber, 77, Coon Rapids, took place 
Oct. 9 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel, Coon Rapids. Chaplain Rex Beyer 
officiated.
Graber died Oct. 6. He was born on July 24, 1923 in Minneapolis to Edward 
Richard Max Graber and Dorothy Bernice Hall. He was a mechanical 
technician. He served in the 112th Cavalry in World War II and received 
the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, 
Anoka American Legion and Anoka Jaycees, and was active in Boy Scouts for 
over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Katheryn; children, Kenneth E. (Maureen) 
Graber, Philip S. (Gayle) Graber, Kathryn L. (Joel) Graeter, Thomas M. 
(Marianne) Graber, Susan A. (Mark) Hettwer; grandchildren, Timothy, 
Rachel, Ian, Paul, John, Stephanie, Nicholas, Michael; and sisters, Lois 
(Robert) Peterman and Shirley (Oliver) Olson.
Pallbearers were Orville Quandt, Don Stubbs, Timothy and Paul Graber, and

and James Ash.

Ruth Malone
Funeral services for Ruth Malone, 85, Coon Rapids, took place Oct. 5 at 
Word of Alliance Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Orville Hieb officiated.
Malone died Oct. 2 in Coon Rapids. She was born Jan. 13, 1915 in 
Athelstane, Wis.
She is survived by her sisters, Myrtle Edwards and Alida Flaws; sons, 
Clifford (Pat) and Paul (Lorraine); daughters, Beverly Jaderston (George) 
and Carol Manske (George); and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron; and grandson, Dwayne 
Jaderston.

Funeral services for Elizabeth “Lu” Louise Payment, 76, Coon Rapids, took

Payment died Oct. 2 in Minneapolis. She was born April 10, 1927 in Grand 
Rapids to Napoleon and Elizabeth Cole Payment.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard “Bud” and Margie 
Payment of Cohasset; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Napoleon Payment and Elizabeth 
Payment-Talbot; and baby brother.
Interment was at Wildwood Cemetery, Cohasset. Arrangements were by

Michael Sullivan
Funeral services for Michael Sullivan, 74, Andover, took place Oct. 10 at 
Church of the Epiphany, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bernard A. Reiser officiated.
Sullivan died Oct. 7 in Andover. He was born Nov. 24, 1925 in Waubun. He 
was a roofer, served two years in the infantry in the Korean War, and was 
a life member of the Coon Rapids VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Nathalie Sullivan; daughters, Kelly (Jim) 
Weber, Karmen (Mike) Silewski; sons, Timothy (Lavonne) and Thomas; 
daughter-in-law, Tammy Sullivan; grandchildren, Lindsey (Craug) Prouty, 
Tara Sullivan, Erin, Jack and Charlie Weber, Miranda and Jared Silewski, 
and Michael Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Rachel Prouty; 
sisters, Margaret (Paul) Scheehn, Alice (Joe) Salentiny, Blanche

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael L. Sullivan; parents; two

David Woster
Funeral services for David Woster, 46, Zimmerman, took place Oct. 5 at 
Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Chaplain Alan Grant

Woster died Oct. 2 in Coon Rapids. He was born March 14, 1954 in Oxnard, 
Calif., and was an engineer employed by Lake Air Metals, Coon Rapids.,
He is survived by his wife, Christy; children, Ben, Emily and Anne; mother 
and father, Barbara and Jim; brothers, Todd (Leslie); sister, Sally 
Woster; and many other relatives and friends.

Debra J. Drury
Funeral services for Debra J. Drury (Sullivan), 48, Anoka, took place

Drury died Sept. 26 in Anoka. She was born Dec. 28, 1951 in Minneapolis.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; sons, John Hoffman (Gina), Joseph

Richard K. Hathaway
Funeral services for Richard K. Hathaway, 80, Lino Lakes, took place Sept.

Hathaway died Sept., 27 in St. Louis Park. He was born May 21, 1920 in 
Rockford, Ill. He served in Europe during World War II and was a sales 
business entrepreneur.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Ken (Randi), Rick (Laura), 
Bill (Terry); grandchildren, Dave, Josh, Jennifer and Karl; brother, 
Chuck; and sister, Bonnie Dill.

Katherine Johnson

Johnson died Sept. 30 at Anoka Good Samaritan Center. She was born July 
17, 1905 in Minneapolis to William and Amelia Maine.

Agnes LeTendre
Funeral services for Agnes LeTendre, 74, Mounds View, took place at

LeTendre died Sept. 28. She was born Jan. 21, 1926 in St. Paul to 
Valentine and Caroline Jereczek, and was a bookkeeper.
She is survived by her children, Stephen Sr., Clarice (Richard) Nordin, 
Richele (Phil) Lovas, David, and Kristine (Jeffery) Bolstad; six 
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, William and Eugene 
Jereczek; sisters, Dorothy Heppner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three children; and two 
brothers.

Janice Lee Odell
Funeral services for Janice Lee Odell, 53, Fridley, took place Oct. 3 at

Odell died Sept. 24 in Coon Rapids. She was born Oct. 21, 1946 in Shakopee 
to Lyle and Mary Liebert Featherston. She did clerical work for US West 
and AT&T.
She is survived by her husband, Clinton Odell; stepdaughter, Cindy Krause; 
stepsons, Chris and Brett Odell; five stepgrandchildren; sisters, Patricia 
Skogberg, Diana Farra and Adrienne Sandager; and brothers, Steve and 
Douglas Featherston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Mary Featherston; and 
stepson, John Odell.

Albert Sandstrom
Memorial services for Albert Sandstrom, 86, Crystal, took place Oct. 3 at

Sandstrom died Sept. 29. He was born Oct. 28, 1913 in Springfield, Mass., 
and was a Baptist minister, teacher and missionary evangelist since 1943.
He is survived by his children, Ron (Kathy), Ruth Kooimna (Jacob); 
grandchildren, Christine, Amy, Linnea, Rebekah, Kristofer, Jessica, and 
Jonathan; great-grandchild, Haylie; brother, Carl; and many nieces,

Funeral services for Elaine Smiley (Treakle), 83, Brooklyn Center, took

Smiley died Sept. 26 in Brooklyn Center. She was born Aug. 22, 1917 in 
Minneapolis.
She is survived by her children, Jimmie Haney (Beverly), Jeffery Haney 
(Kathy), Muriel Davis (Gary), Lorraine Haney, April Kramer and Charles 
Smiley; stepdaughter, Janis Smiley; daughters-in-law, Yvonne and Ann 
Haney; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

William Spain

Spain died Nov. 5 in Coon Rapids. He was born Aug. 30, 1928 in Brainerd 
and was employed in defense production. He served in the U.S. Army for 
four years, and was a life member of the VFW and longtime member of the 
American Legion and Masons.

Charles “Burt” Spain; first wife Dorothy “Tiny” Rich and their three
