Robert Beck 
Funeral services for Robert N. “Bob” Beck, 70, Blaine, took place March 22 at the Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Chapel in Anoka. Pastor Kenneth A. Rice officiated. 
Beck died March 19 at his home in Blaine. He was born Oct. 31, 1931 in Balsam, North Carolina to Nelson and Eva Beck. He was married to Dorothey French and worked as a plater at F.M.C. 
A decorated veteran of the Korean War — awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart — Beck is survived by step-children Barbara Williams, Dennis Reihe (Rose), William Reihe (Cathy Jo), Kim Lanphier (Glenn), Debbie Soj, Sharon Soj (Rick Soj’s surviving wife); brothers James (Marie), Ed (Kay); 11 grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. 
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothey, step-son Rick Soj and step-son-in-law Florian Williams. 
Internment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka. 

Arthuretta Golden 
Funeral services for Arthuretta O. Golden, 81, Anoka, took place March 27 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Anoka. Father Bill Deziel officiated. 
Golden died March 24 at Unity Hospital. She was born Nov. 28, 1920 to Arthur and Olive St. George and married Arnold Golden. She was a retired bookkeeper, who previously worked 35 years for IDS Financial Services. 
She is survived by a son Bill (Lee) Golden of Ramsey, daughter Cathey (Jack) Kopel of Champlin; grandchildren Jackie, Jeff, Jay, Bill, Melissa, Vickie, Tim, Brenda, Andrew, Aaron and Adam’ great-grandchildren Ryan, Cassandra, Brian Justin, Kasey, Cody, Shelby, Ellie, Reice, Curtis, Alyssa, Katie and Charlie; sister-in-law Marsha St. George of Brooklyn Center, son-in-law Denis LaPalme of North Branch; nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold, daughter Mary LaPalme, daughter-in-law Pam Golden. Pallbearers were Jeff and Jay Gothier, Bill Golden, Aaron and Adam Kopel, Monty Jepsen and Tim LaPalme. 
Internment was at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home of Anoka. 

Calvin Gordon 
Funeral services for Calvin R. Gordon, 70, Anoka, took place March 26 at Thurston Lindberg Funeral Home in Anoka. Father Dale Ehrman officiated. 
Gordon died March 22 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. He was born Aug. 18, 1931 in Concord, Minn to Vernie and Hazel Gordon. He married Hannah Gieske and worked as a machinist. 
He is survived by sons Fritz (Lois) of Dayton, Chuck (Pam) of Champlin; daughter Lois (Roy) of Emery, NC; grandchildren Amy (Mike) Wright, Kelly, Tom, Cory, Steve and Jodi Gordon, Sadie, Bryon and Jennifer Emery; great-granddaughter Rachael Wright; sisters Verna (Gordy) Mollenhauer and Marlene (Don) Dillemuth; brother Orrin Gordon; nieces, nephews and other relatives as well as many friends. 
He was preceded in death by his wife Hannah and brothers Dean and Willard Gordon. 
Internment was at Jarloth Cemetery in Janesville, Minn. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home of Anoka. 

Virgilene Runquist 
Funeral services for Virgilene L. Runquist, 75,m Anoka, took place March 23 at Methven-Taylor Funeral Home in Anoka. The Rev. Robert Christenson officiated. 
Runquist died March 20 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. She was born to William and Jeannette Leek Feb. 25, 1931 and married Donald Runquist. She worked for FMC Defense in Fridley and shot on a skeet and trap team for FMC. Runquist also loved to hunt and fish with her husband Don. 
Runquist is survived by her husband Donald; mother Jeannette Leek; nieces, nephews, in-laws and many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father William and sister Maxine Norberg. Pallbearers were Kendall Norberg, Robert Runquist, Kevin Norberg, Stephen Libro, Stan Runquist and Hartley Dahl. 
Internment was at Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel. 

Mary Jo Youso 
Funeral services for Mary Jo Youso, 45, Anoka, took place March 16 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Anoka. Rv. Bill Mehrkens officiated. 
Youso died March 13 at North Ridge Care Center. She was born July 6, 1956 in Forest Lake to Harvey F. Youso and Donna Kolb and was a pre-school teacher in Spring Lake Park and lead teacher at Mercy Hospital. 
She is survived by her mother, Donna; special friend, Bill; brothers, Michael (Julie), Paul and Peter; sister, Jackie (Mark) Jensen; nephews, Andy and David; grandmother, Dorothy Youso; aunts and uncles; and other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey. 
Pallbearers were Harvey Korte, Reuben Richardson, Chuck Zimmerman, Brad Reid, Bryan Novak and Allen Kosloski. 
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home, Anoka Chapel.

Funeral services for Beverly A. Blauert, 63, Anoka, took place April 2 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated. 
Blauert died March 29. She was born in Polk County, Wis., and was a nurse. 
She is survived by her husband, Vernon; son, Bevan (Lori); grandson, Benjamin; daughters, Bethany (Richard) Krakow, Brynell Blauert; sisters, Bonnie (Scott) Fruehling, Brenda (Gary) Peterson; brother, Bradley Christman; and other family and friends.

Bruno Brettschneider 
Funeral services for Bruno A. Brettschneider, 71, Anoka, take place today (Friday, April 5,) 11 a.m., at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Liane S. Rock will officiate. 
Brettschneider died March 22 in Mesa, Ariz. He was born July 13, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wis., to Ernst Brettschneider and Paula Rommel. He was a sales representative, a lifetime member of Anoka American Legion Post and a charter member of the Dayton Lions Club. 
He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Susan Brettschneider, Mark (Renee), Paula (Keith) Tusa, Anne Brettschneider; grandchildren, Nicholas, Katie and Heather; brother, Heinz (Dianne); and many nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Margaret Brettschneider and Lydia Peterson. 
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home. 

David Erickson 
Funeral services for David J. Erickson, 49, Ham Lake, took place March 29 at Oak Haven Church. Rev. Fred Tuma officiated. 
Erickson died March 25 at his home. He was born Dec. 20, 1952 in Minneapolis to John E. Erickson and Rosella Thompson. He was an area representative for Local 49ers and had served as vice president of Minneapolis Building Trades Council. 
His is survived by his wife, Mary Beth; daughters, Christina and Sara; son, Carl; mother, Rosella Erickson; sister, Linda (Ray) Wolner; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his father, John Erickson. 
Pallbearers were Adam, Michael and Ray Wolner, and Edward, Ryan and Ethan Miller.

William Gustafson 
Funeral services for William R. Gustafson, 63, Coon Rapids, took place March 25 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Blaine. Rev. Harry Tasto officiated. 
Gustafson died March 22 at Unity Hospital. He was born Nov. 22, 1938 in Oakes, N.D., to Verner and Evelyn (Arndt) Gustafson. He was a retired Blaine police detective. 
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Angie Trudeau and husband Don and their children Andy and Tony; son, Jay Gustafson and wife Missy and their children Josh, Matt and Jennifer; and many other relatives and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Dorothy. 
Pallbearers were Bill Breemeersch, Dennis O’Brien, Gary Gice, Charles Ferguson, Michael Chmiel and Gary Gliniany.

Ida Kennedy 
Memorial services for Ida Mae (Grummett) Kennedy, 93, Coon Rapids, formerly of Cook and North Port, Fla., will take place April 7, 2 to 5 p.m., at the home of her daughter, Virginia Eichholz, 1051 93rd Ave. N.W., Coon Rapids. 
Kennedy died March 27 at her daughter’s home in Coon Rapids. She was born in 1908 in Duluth and she and her husband operated a summer resort in the Cook area for 50 years. 
She is survived by her son, Walter G. and wife Gene Ann of Tampa, Fla.; daughters, Virginia Eichholz and husband Clifford of Coon Rapids and Susan Stuardi and husband Richard of Mobile, Ala.; 21 grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter C.; and daughter, Gayle Blackwell. 

Marshall McMorran 
Funeral services for Marshall I. McMorran, 69, Coon Rapids, took place March 23 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Marcus Mork officiated. 
McMorran died March 21. He was born Jan. 4, 1933 and was a painter. 
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughter, Angela Elias (Jason); son, Daniel and fiancee Rachel; grandchildren, Jonathan and Nicole Elias; sisters, Gale Ellring (Merle) and Susan Kahout; nieces and nephews; and many friends. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Viola. 
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel. 

Paul Moore 
Funeral services for Paul S. Moore, 92, Anoka, took place April 2 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Stanley F. Kozlak officiated. 
Moore died March 26 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Home, St. Paul. He was born Feb. 15, 1910 in Minneapolis to Frank and Catherine (Dvorak) Moore, and was a retired administrator in the insurance industry. 
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred; and brothers, Harold, David and Emerson. 
Pallbearers were Jon Belair, Tuffy Nelson, Mike Solarz, Gerry Cotton, Ed Coleman and Adrian Dehn.

Lloyd Norby 
Funeral services for Rev. Lloyd J. Norby, 85, Champlin, took place March 29 at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, Minneapolis. Rev. Joseph Landock officiated. 
Norby died March 24 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids He was born July 30, 1916 in Minneapolis and was a retired engineer. 
He is survived by his wife, Gwen; stepchildren, Sam Strickler (Mary), Tammy Chavez (Martin), Jeanie Kratz (Buzzy), Tom Strickler (Shannon), Rose Wehland (Joe), Dawn Johnson; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Orval (Vivian). 
He was preceded in death by his sister, Isabelle. 
Pallbearers were Brian Parath, Paul Norby, Sam Strickler, Joe Wehland, and Buzzy and Phalen Kravitz.

Helen Sylvester 
Funeral services for Helen G. Sylvester, 67, Anoka, took place April 2 at Cross of Hope Lutheran Church, Ramsey. Rev. Fred Hanson officiated. 
Sylvester died March 28 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis. She was born Nov. 11, 1934 in Hubbard County to Lawrence and Blanche B. (Sanford) Wilson, and was paraprofessional in the public schools. 
She is survived by her sons, John and wife Robin, Mike and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Christopher, Karley, Leah, Luke and Kyle; brothers, Donald Wilson and wife Marilyn, Fred Wilson; sister-in-law, Lois Wilson; and other relatives and many friends. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert. 
Pallbearers were James Weidner, Gary Cleator, Tom Sullivan, Jeff Wehe, Matt Sylvester and Warren Olson. Honorary pallbearers were all the nieces and nephews.

Merlyn Watson 
Funeral services for Merlyn E. Watson, 83, Anoka, took place March 21 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Dennis Heiden officiated. 
Watson died March 18 at Camilia Rose Convalescent Center, Coon Rapids. He was born March 20, 1918 in Lake City and was assistant city manager for the city of Anoka from 1957 to 1982, retired member of the Anoka Fire Department and charter member of the Anoka Lions Club. 
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sister, Bernice Willers (Ruben); daughters, Mary Scarborough (Steve), Carol Beckman (Lee); five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 
Pallbearers were Cliff Posthumus, Don Chamberlain, Rex Erickson, Gerry Taylor, Art Schlenker and Charles Ehlen.

Aanstad died April 2 at Mercy Hospital. He was born July 18, 1908 in Thief River Falls to Hans and Rose (Soglo) Aanstad. He was a retired telephone installer for the phone company. 
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sister-in-law, Ruth Hooper; and seven nieces and nephews. 
Pallbearers were Warren Talbot, Clete Kroll, Don Allen, Dick Raveling, Charles Rike, Glenn Osmonson and Chester Tollefson.

Alice Anderson 
Graveside services for Alice A. Anderson, 88, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, took place April 6 at Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis. 
Anderson died April 3 at Garnett Place, Cedar Rapids. She was born Nov. 27, 1913 in Minneapolis to Thomas and Caroline Grob Benson. She worked as a school cook for the Anoka-Hennepin School District for 35 years and was a Girl Scout leader for several years. 
She is survived by her son, Dean and wife Brenda of Hiawatha; and granddaughters, Tamra Danielson and Teresa Peterson. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton H. Anderson. 
Arrangements were by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. 

Vincent Bastimpillai 
Funeral services for Vincent Bastimpillai, 82, Fridley, took place April 4 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Blaine. Rev. Harold Tasto officiated. 
Bastimpillai died April 1 at Unity Hospital. He was born July 19, 1919 and was a printing business owner. 
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Valentine Bastian (Bernadette), Evangeline Casimir (Isaac), Placida Anthonypillai (Ranijan); and grandchildren, Paxton, Anne, Amanda, Valerie and Amelia.

Alfred Becker 
Funeral services for Alfred L. Becker, 76, Coon Rapids, took place April 6 at Gearhart Funeral Chapel. Rev. Roger Stensaas officiated. 
Becker died April 2. He was born in Eugene, Ore., to Harold and Alice Becker and was a manager of Boise Cascade. 
He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Mike (Lynn), Lisa, Brad, Rosalie, Jim (Jenna); sister, Doris (Gord) VanGuilder; sister-in-law, Dawn Pearson; five granddaughters; two grandsons; and many nieces, nephews and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Alice Becker; sister, Helen; brother, Harold; and brother-in-law, Kenny Pearson.

Gregory Bowen 
Funeral services for Gregory Martin Bowen, 22, Anoka, took place April 4 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Blaine. Rev. George Kolath officiated. 
Bowen died March 30. He was born June 27, 1979 in Fridley and was forklift operator at Hoffman Engineering. 
He is survived by his mother, Deborah St. James; father, Clyde Bowen; sister, Gretchen; brothers, Gary, Grant and Geoffrey; grandmother, Mary Zylba; aunts and uncles; and many relatives and friends.

John Cardinal 
Funeral services for John W. Cardinal, 89, Coon Rapids, took place April 3 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated. 
Cardinal died April 3. He was born in Buffalo to Richard and Exelia Cardinal. He was a retired carman for Great Northern Railroad. 
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Richard Rogers; son and daughter-in-law, David and Barbara; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa DeRosier; brother, Merle; and many nieces, nephews and friends. 
She was preceded in death by his wives, Esther and Lucille. 
Pallbearers were Tim and David Rogers, Brian Cardinal, David Overkamp, Brad Pint and Dean Strickland.

Loretta Dill 
Funeral services for Loretta A. Dill, 87, Anoka, took place April 10 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Liane Rock officiated. 
Dill died April 5 at Mercy Hospital. She was born July 12, 1914 in Andover. 
She is survived by her children, Bonita (Tom) King and Dennis Dill; grandchildren, Todd and Craig; and many relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; three sisters; and one brother. 
Pallbearers were Todd and Craig King, Jim Smith, Dwayne Peterson, Wayne Miller and Harry Sundeen.

Dean Ekmark 
Funeral services for Dean Ekmark, 71, Coon Rapids, took place April 9 at Anoka United Methodist Church. Rev. Kenneth A. Rice officiated. 
Ekmark died April 3. He was born May 1, 1930 in Brook Park. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a retired purchasing agent at Federal Cartridge and a member of the Anoka American Legion Post. 
He is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Mark; daughters, Tamara Bolton (Steven), and Mary Kay; grandchildren, Alice and Nick Bolton, Dondre and Elon Jordan; brothers, Don and Bill; sisters, Betty Lindquist and Marge Buecler (Harlow); nieces and nephews; and many friends. 
Interment was private. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. 

Carl Gabriel 
Funeral services for Carl E. Gabriel, 66, Coon Rapids, took place April 4 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Spring Lake Park. Rev. Paul Strawn officiated. 
Gabriel died April 1 at his home. He was born Feb. 11, 1936 in Burleen Township, Todd County to George W. Gabriel and Myrtle Hanson. He was control administrator of butter production and inventory at Land O’Lakes. 
He is survived by his wife, Jan; daughters, Victoria Gabriel, Jacki (Ken) Young, Christine (Brad) Wise; grandchildren, Irene, Brittney, Jacob and Connor; and many nieces, nephews and friends. 
He was preceded in death by is parents; two sisters; and three brothers. 
Pallbearers were Howard and Ryan Bremmer, Ken Young, Bradley Wise, Victoria Gabriel and Bob Merhar.

Catherine Hanson 
Funeral services for Catherine A. Hanson, 52, Nevis, formerly of Blaine took place April 5 at Epiphany Catholic Church Coon Rapids. Rev. Bernard Reiser officiated. 
Hanson died April 1 in Coon Rapids. She was born Dec. 22, 1949 in Pottstown, Pa., and was a retired AAA Travel Agency manager in Coon Rapids. 
She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughter, Colleen Ricker, Colette Hanson; mother, Denise Yarmush; sister, Betty Ann Griffin; uncle, Paul Yarmush; nephew, Marcial Mundo; nieces, Christina Geisinger; and other friends and relatives. 
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Yarmush; sister, Mary-Frances Mundo; and several aunts and uncles. 
Interment was at Epiphany Cemetery, Coon Rapids. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. 

William Kilpatrick 

Memorial services for William A. Kilpatrick, 83, Hecla, S.D., formerly of Anoka, will take place in Hecla in June. 
Kilpatrick died March 23 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen, S.D. He was born Sept. 15, 1918 in McIntosh, S.D., to Dece and Cora (Knoke) Kilpatrick. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and worked for the state of Minnesota Highway Department for many years and retired after working as a custodian at the Anoka County Courthouse. 
He is survived by his sons, Keith (Jocelyn) Kilpatrick of Andover, and Dale (Alexia) Kilpatrick of Isanti; sisters, Florence Lloyd of Hecla and Celestia James of Sturgis, S.D.; grandchildren, Courtney, Zachary and Samuel; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first and second wives; and two sisters. 
Interment will be at Houghton Cemetery, S.D. 

Hazel Noller 
Funeral services for Hazel Easter Noller, 90, St. Peter, will take place at a later date. 
Noller died April 7 at Anoka Good Samaritan Center. She was born April 7, 1912 in Alta Vista, Kan., to Jonas Johnson and Eva Peterson. She was a retired recreation therapist, s 46-year member of the Eastern Star, and volunteer with the Girl Scouts, Red Cross and American Cancer Society. 
She is survived by her children, Jack (Rebecca) of Klamath Falls, Ore.; Janice Hutchings of Grants Pass,Ore.; and Jerrol (Gail) Noller of Anoka; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur. 
Arrangements are by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. 

Jay Nuwash 
Memorial services for Jay E. Nuwash, 56, Blaine, will take place at a later date at Redeemer Lutheran Church. 
Nuwash died April 3 at Unity Hospital. He was born Jan. 25, 1946 in Hutchinson was a railroad clerk. 
He is survived by his wife, Jan; son, Ed; daughter, Michelle; and grandchildren, Brandon and Erica.

Anna Olds 
Funeral services for Anna J. Olds, 87, Anoka, took place April 9 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Brenda King officiated. 
Olds died April 2 at Twin Rivers Care Center, Anoka. She was born Aug. 28, 1914 in Mitchell, S.D., to Thomas and Rose (Ablem) Hendrickson, and was a retired nursing aide. 
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Fearing of Champlin; grandchildren, James (Patricia) Fearing, Terrie (Hosny Botrous) Johnson, Barbara (John) Crawford, Debra Jones, Michael (Sheri) Fearing, Laurie (Paul) Spain; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; two great-grandsons; and one great-great grandson. 
Pallbearers were Richard Johnson, Cameron, Beau and Jerid Fearing, and Jeremiah and Joshua Spain. 
Interment was at Mound Cemetery, Brooklyn Center. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. 

Maridee Pohlman 
Funeral services for Maridee Jill Pohlman, 51, Coon Rapids, took place April 9 at Peace Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Revs. Jay Carlson and Roger Stensaas officiated. 
Pohlman died April 6 at her home. She was born Feb. 18, 1951 in Crosby to Walter Midthun and Margaret Monson. She was a nurse. 
She is survived by her husband, Willard; son, Jim (Megan) Helling; son, Jason Larsgard; daughter, Kelly Larsgard; stepchildren, Molly Armstrong, Nettie Harstad; sisters, Joan Murphy, Sally Stroh and Mary Jean Fairchild; and brothers, Duane Hanson, Bob Midthun and Pete Midthun. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Charles Midthun. 
Pallbearers were Duane and John Hanson, Bob and Pete Midthun, Dennis Fairchild, and Jerry Murphy. 
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Methven-Taylor Funeral Home Blaine Chapel. 

Eugene Prahl 
Funeral services for Eugene T. Prahl, 43, Ramsey, took place April 4 at Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel, Coon Rapids. Rev. Roger Stensaas officiated. 
Prahl died March 30 in Ramsey. He was born May 2, 1959. 
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Prahl; mother, Eileen Prahl; six brothers; one sister; and many nieces and nephews. 
Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Washburn-McReavy Seman Chapel. 

Edythe Rither 
Funeral services for Edythe E. Rither, 82, Anoka, took place April 11 at Anoka United Methodist Church. Rev. Brenda L. King officiated. 
Rither died April 7 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Aug. 20, 1919 in Hallock to George F. and Mary F. (Larter) Smolak. She was retired from Federal Cartridge. 
She is survived by her son, Skip and wife Gloria; daughter, Phyllis Rither; and brother, Raymond Smolak and wife Celia. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Smokey” Rither. 
Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. 

Betty Samuelson 
Funeral services for Betty A. Samuelson, 75, Anoka, took place April 5 at Solid Rock Free Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Richard Gunderson officiated. 
Samuelson died April 2 at Guardian Angels Care Center, Elk River. She was born March 6, 1927 in Rosewood to Emil and Olga M. (Hall) Hellquist, She was retired from Federal Cartridge. 
She is survived by her children Vickie (Ron) Olsen, Cindy (Ken) Samuelson, Dennis (Donna) Erickson, Lorna (Ray) Castonguay; stepchildren, Kenneth Samuelson, Ronald (Lorna) Samuelson, Florence (Charles) Fox, Margie (Robert) Sanderlin; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Dorothy (Gordie) Witzel, Roland (Lillian) Hellquist, Marilyn Dalchow, Elaine (Roger) Langlie, John (Vicky) Hellquist; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leslie W. Erickson and Ralph E. Samuelson; son, Lyle; daughter, MaryLou; parents, Emil and Olga Hellquist; and greatgrandchildren, Rickie Leigh and Bryan Lee. 
Interment was at Constance Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. 

Gertrude Vandecar 
Funeral services for Gertrude M. Vandecar, 98, Anoka, took place April 11 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Dennis Heiden officiated. 
Vandecar died April 7 at Park River Estates Care Center, Coon Rapids. She was born April 30, 1903 in Burns Township to William and Mary (Liebheit) Cornelius. 
She is survived by her daughter, MaryJo (David) Reed of East Gull Lake; son, Jim (Carol) Vandecar of Princeton; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sister, Esther Cornelius of Golden Valley; sister-in-law, Kate Cornelius of Elk River; and many nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents, William and Mary Cornelius; and six brothers. 
Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.
