Died 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 1993, in Vacherie. He was 74, a native and resident of Vacherie. He was a retired pipe fitter with Avondale Industries. Visiting at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie, 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, and 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial 1 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Father Clarence Waguespack Burial in church cemetery. Survived by wife, Aurelise F. Becnel, Vacherie; a daughter, Mary Lee Troxclair, Thibodaux, and a son, Bruce Becnel, Vacherie; five sisters, Mabel Guillot, Marie Zeringue, and Jane Folse, all of Vacherie, Jane Percle and Yvonne Percle, both of Chackbay; three brothers, Joseph Marcel Becnel and Joseph Bluebeck Becnel, both of Vacherie, and Francois Tony Becnel, Destrehan; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Died 3:15 a.m. Sunday Feb. 27, 1994, at Riverwest Medical Center, Plaquemine. He was 87, a native of St. Gabriel and a resident of Plaquemine. He was a retired educator in Iberville Parish, where he served for 11 years as a teacher, and was also a retired chemist with Solvay Chemical Company with 28 years of service. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, and 8 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. BECNEL, O.S.B., THE REV. ANDREW TRICHE 
Died Tuesday, March 29, 1994, at 4:50 a.m. after a lengthy illness. He was 83, born Aug. 16, 1911, in St. Gabriel. He was a monk and resident of St. Joseph Abbey, Covington. He entered St. Joseph Abbey in August 1932, professed his vows as a monk on Sept. 15, 1933, and was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood on June 7,1938. Vespers was held at St. Joseph Abbey at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and a vigil at 7:15 p.m. Funeral Mass at the abbey church at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday. Interment in the Monastery Cemetery.
Survived by a brother, Verney E. Becnel Sr., St. Gabriel; and three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Martin, Maringouin, Mrs. Jenny Deane Jones, LaPlace, and Mrs. Elaine Risher, Round Rock, Texas. Preceded in death by parents, Alcee E. and Noemie Perilloux Becnel He graduated from St. Joseph Seminary and St. Joseph School of Theology in 1932. He served in numerous positions in the monastery and seminary, having taught dogmatic theology to the young monks and Old Testament to the seminarians at St. Joseph Seminary until 1969. He served as novice master 11 years and prior of the community from 1953-64 and following his ordination worked in parishes on weekends until 1979 and was chaplain at St. Scholastica and St. Gertrude convents. In 1969, he was assistant pastor of St. Peter's Parish, Covington, and served as pastor seven years. He returned to the abbey as retreat master at Abbey Christian Life Center and was spiritual director in the seminary until 1980. On May 28, 1993, he celebrated his diamond jubilee, completing 60 years in the community. Schoen Funeral Home Inc. in charge of arrangements.

Augustine Marie Becnel, a native of Vacherie, LA and a resident of Thibodaux, LA, died on Saturday, April 13, 1991, at 1:30 a.m.. Age 69 years. Mother of Dennis and Donald Becnel and Diane Martinez. Sister of John, Leonard and Leo Stein. Also survived by 5 grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Henry S. Becnel; her parents, Hypolite and Lillia Stein; six brothers, Carrol, Justin, Michel, Joseph, Henry, and Roy Stein; and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Theresa Gravois and Mrs. Ann Zeringue.

LAPLACE (AP) - Former State Representative D. Elmore Becnel, 57, of LaPlace died Sunday in a Jefferson Parish Hospital after a long illness. He represented St. John the Baptist Parish from 1952 to 1964.

He is survived by his widow; two sons, Daniel E. Becnel, Jr. and Robert Becnel; a daughter, Mary Susan Becnel; three brothers and three sisters.

Becnel, 72, who died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 1996 at his residence in Scott. Entombment will be in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery Mausoleum. The Rev Frederick Swenson, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the services. Geraldine Roy, organist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace", "The Lord's Prayer", "Ave Marie" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". Survivors include: his wife, Agate "Aggie" Becnel of Scott; one daughter, Sharon Kinsella of Dallas, Texas; one son, Gregg E. Becnel of Birmingham, Ala.; two step-sons, Daniel Dale Trahan of Reno, Nev., and Jerry Dee Trahan of Scott; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three sisters, Lily B. Wright and Pearl Warthen, both of St. Gabriel, and Beulah Marchand of Texarkana, Ark. He was preceded in death by: his parents; three brothers, Lezin Becnel Jr., Lester Becnel and Ray A. Becnel; and three sisters, Grace Vicknair, Amelie Davis and Leslie Templet. A native of St. Gabriel and a longtime resident of Lafayette, Mr. Becnel was a resident of Scott for 23 years. He was the son of the late Lezin L. Becnel, a native of Edgard, and the former Amelie Haydel, a native of LaPlace. A veteran of military service, Mr. Becnel served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Becnel was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Community in Scott where he served as head usher for Sts. Peter and Paul Usher Society. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home in Scott. DeQuincy - Funeral services for James "Jim" Becnel, 74, will be at 10 am Saturday, May 12, from Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church.

Mr. Becnel died at 6:30 pm Wednesday, May 9, at the Diagnostic Clinic in Houston, Texas after a lengthy illness.
A native of Grosse Tete, he had lived in deQuincy 40 years.
Mr. Becnel was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Marine Corps veteran of World War I and was a retired Shell Oil operator.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Florence Becnel; two daughters, Mrs. Judy Andre of Riverton, Wyo., and Mrs. Joy Kelley of Cameron; two sons, Ronald Robertson of Port Arthur, Texas and Elton Robertson of Sulphur; four brothers, the Rev. Lloyd Becnel of Mowata, Rene Becnel of Hackberry; Lynn Becnel of Iowa and Armond Becnel of Henderson, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Theresa Taylor of Lake Charles, and Mrs. Mae Williams of Iowa; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services for James J. Becnel, well known resident of Iowa who died in a Houston hospital Saturday morning, were held in Iowa at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Burke & Trotti, funeral directors of Lake Charles were in charge of services.

Lena Becnel, aged 19 years died at Patterson Sanitarium last Saturday. She was suffering from a ruptured appendix. The operation was successful, but being due to the poisoned condition of the system caused by advanced decay of the ruptured appendix. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Becnel of this city. Mr. Becnel died Friday, February 3, 1995 in his residence. A native of Grosse Tete and a resident of Iowa most of his life, he was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was the owner and operator of Lynn's General Merchandise for 46 years and was a member of Independent Grocers Association. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, recipient of the Devoted Service Medal from the Diocese of Lake Charles, and member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3006.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Juanita L. Becnel; three sons, Dr. Jimmy Becnel of Gainesville, Fla., Joe Becnel and Fred Becnel, both of Iowa; four daughters, Patricia Schwan of Lake Charles, Jane Arrington of Iowa, Ann Petry of Sugarland, Texas, and Catherine Sittig of St. Thomas, Virgin Island; one brother, R. She was the mother of Troy M. Zeringue, Bonnie Z. MacFayden, Twilla Z. Morvant and Charity A. Zeringue; sister of Joseph, Tony and Joseph Marcel Becnel, Mabel B. Guillot, Jane B. and Evon A. Percle. She is also survived by five grandchildren.

Brignac and the late Fidelia Landaiche, Nelia Berthelot, Odile Jacob and Alcost Schexnayder, Jr. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Aged 99 years, a native of Pauline, LA and a resident of Metairie for the past 61 years.

BECNEL, SYLVESTER "SAM"
Sam Becnel, aged 69 years, passed away suddenly at his home on Iberia Street Monday, September 18, at six p.m. The funeral was conducted from the residence Wednesday at four o'clock. The services were held at the Catholic Church. Interment was made in Franklin Cemetery.
Mr. Becnel was a highly respected citizen and was a member of Franklin Council, Knights of Columbus, under whose auspices his funeral was conducted.
Besides his wife, the deceased is survived by seven daughters and sons: Mrs. F. J. Greaux, Algiers, Mrs. C.D. Schwartz, St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. L. J. Luke (sic. Loup), Vacherie, Mrs. A. D. Decareau, Algiers, Mrs. Joseph Biaggni, New Orleans, Mrs. L. Boudreaux, Franklin, Mrs. H. H. McCarthy, Jr., Baltimore, Md., Messrs. Simon Becnel, Franklin, Peter Becnel, St. Louis, Mo., Edward Becnel, New Orleans. Also surviving are two brothers, A. Becnel, Franklin and Paul Becnel, New Orleans.

Also survived by 9 grandchildren. A native of New Orleans, age 68 years. Mr. Becnel served in the Army Air Corp during WW 11, was retired from Dow Chemical and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at I 1:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 20, 1992 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Bay City, Ml with Reverend Father James M. Fitzpatrick officiating. Entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum, Saginaw, MI.
