MARY L. NIEMI

Mary Louise Niemi, 73, of Farmington, died May 15, 2002.

Mrs. Niemi was born Aug. 7, 1928 in Detroit. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Tony) Cassar and Jeanne Niemi; and son, Lawrence (Renee). She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and daughters, Margaret and Ann Marie.

DIANA M. SPARKS

Services for Diana Mae Sparks, 68, of Warren, were held May 24 at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington with Dr. Paul Sutton officiating. Burial took place at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi.

Mrs. Sparks was born Jan. 3, 1934 in Detroit and died May 20, 2002 at St. John Hospital in Warren. She worked as a receptionist and was a member of the Swedish Club.

She is survived by her husband Ralph; sons, Randall (Linda) and Gregory (Yvette); daughters, Cheryl Sparks and Susan (Angelo) Taormina; brothers, Pete, John and Gus Johnson; sister, Sonya Cardinale; and nine grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Vickie Smyth.

PATRICIA ELVIDGE

Services for Patricia Elvidge, 63, of Farmington Hills, will be held at 7 p.m. today, May 26 at McCabe Funeral Home in Farmington Hills with visitation beginning at 3 p.m.

Ms. Elvidge was born in Covington, Ky. and died May 19, 2002 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. She was the property manager at Glens of Cedarbrooke Apartments in Farmington Hills since 1979. She had a no-nonsense attitude that "got the job done" and considered her tenants as her kids no matter what their age.

She is survived by her daughter, Rae Elvidge; sister, Shirley Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.

JAMES T. HAMMER 

A celebration of life memorial service for James "Jamie" Thomas Hammer 37, formerly of Farmington Hills will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at St. Clare of Assisi Church in Farmington Hills. 

Mr. Hammer was born Feb. 27, 1965 in Redford and died May 19, 2002 in Hawaii. He worked as a custodian for Farmington Public Schools and as a landscape engineer at Hilton Hawaiian Village in Hawaii. He was an awarded swimmer, experienced hiker and enjoyed being on the beaches of Hawaii. 

He is survived by his wife, Patty; daughters, Puanani and Jamiee Jo; son, Jahn; father, Jack; sisters, Nancy Boyer and Mary Jo (Rick) Halleck; brother, Tim; special uncle of Shane Hammer, Thor Boyer, Shawn, Jody and Jonathan Halleck. He is preceded in death by his mother Betty Jo and brother John.

SADIE H. LEONARD

Services for Sadie Hedwiga Leonard, 96, of Chippewa, Mich., were held May 25 at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Thomas Slowinski officiating.

Mrs. Leonard was born Oct. 15, 1905 in St. Louis, Mo. and died May 23, 2002 in Farmington. She worked as a sales associate in yard goods and cosmetics.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Jackson; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Franklin and son, Edward.

JULIA B. FORCE

Services for Julia B. Force, 85, of Farmington Hills, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 1 at St. Kenneth Catholic Church in Plymouth with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today, May 30 and 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 31 at Fred Wood Funeral Home in Livonia.

Mrs. Force died May 26, 2002 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. She worked as a department store fashion coordinator.

She is survived by her sons, James and Gerard; two brothers; and six grandchildren.

JOHN DUVAL JR.

Services for John "Jack" Duval Jr., 78, of Farmington, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 31 at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington with visitation 2-8 p.m. today. Burial will take place at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.

Mr. Duval was born Aug. 9, 1923 in Battle Creek and died May 28, 2002 in Farmington. He worked as an engineer for Robert Shaw Mechanical Controls and also worked for Johnson Controls and Clawson Concrete. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the NRA. He was also a member of the 1255th Combat Eng. Association and the Multi-Lakes Conservation Club.

He is survived by his sons, John (Robin), Michael (Lisa) and Patrick (Sara); daughters, Kathryn (Ed) Wangler and Janet (Michael) Hack; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly.

CHARLES E. CAMPBELL

Services for Charles Edwin Campbell III, 77, of Farmington, were held June 1 at St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Livonia with the Rev. Aaron Zull officiating.

Mr. Campbell was born Jan. 14, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio and died May 28, 2002 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. He worked as a district sales manager for M & T Chemical for 41 years and was a Masonic Lodge member. He enjoyed golfing, classical, opera and bagpipe music.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Charles "Chip" (Lynn); daughter, Connie (Mike) Hockman; sister, Elizabeth Keifer; and grandchildren, Noah, Kurt, Scott, Kate and Anne.

FRANK P. SCHULTES

A memorial service for Frank P. Schultes, 51, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at McCabe Funeral Home in Farmington Hills. 

Mr. Schultes was born in Detroit and died May 28, 2002 in Washington D.C. He was a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy for 22 years.

He is survived by his children, Theresa and Fritz; and former wife Pamela.

Services for Elizabeth Alcser, 92, of Farmington Hills, were held May 30 at St. Fabian Catholic Church in Farmington Hills.

Mrs. Alcser was born in Hungary and died May 25, 2002 in Farmington Hills.

She is survived by her sons, George (Kirsten) and Peter (Lucy); daughter, Helen (Sheldon) Silverstein; grandchildren Christine, Marc, Matthew, Vickie, Deena, Howard, Andrea and Stefani; and great-grandchildren, Alexa and Halle Elizabeth. She is preceded in death by her husband, George.

REUBEN A. BAMMERT

Services for Reuben Allen Bammert, 71, of Farmington Hills, were held June 1 at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Kurt Stutz officiating. Burial took place at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.

Mr. Bammert was born Sept. 10, 1930 in Allouez, Mich. and died May 29, 2002 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. He worked as a machine repairman for Ford Motor Company for 30 years.

Wives Jean and Sandra preceded him in death.

He is survived by his son, Glen; daughter, Gale McIntosh; companion, Alice Mis; granddaughters, Jessica and Julie; sisters, Ruth (Kenneth) Karpinen, Dorothy (Clement) Beaudoin, Fay (Waino) Kuitunen and Barbara (Erland) Lahnala; brothers, Gordon (Rosemarie), William (Nancy), Joseph (Barbara), Kenneth and Richard (Patricia); and several nieces and nephews.

REV. JOHN S. ANGLE

Services for the Rev. John "Jack" Samuel Angle, 80, of Farmington Hills, will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Dr. Victor Halboth officiating. Burial will take place at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia. Visitation will be held 1-9 p.m. today, June 6, at the funeral home.

Rev. Angle was born Sept. 15, 1921 in Washington D.C. and died June 3, 2002 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He completed ministerial training at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo. in 1945. He earned a master of science degree in clinical psychology from Wayne State University. He was fluent in several languages.

In 1953, Rev. Angle accepted the position of executive of the Michigan District's Board of Instructional Chaplaincy. From 1968 until his retirement in 1995, he served as the executive secretary of the Board of Social Ministry. Rev. Angle was also active as a religious counselor and psychologist at the Michigan Epilepsy Center from 1956 to 1966. He served as a research assistant at the University of Michigan and after 1960 returned as a popular lecturer. 

He also served as lecturer and encounter leader for numerous marriage counseling seminars.

After retirement, Rev. Angle served several Detroit city churches on an interim basis until his 80th birthday.

He is survived by his wife, Annabell; daughter, Debra Johnston and Kathi Long; son, Kenneth Angle; and grandchildren, Megan MacDonald, Stephen MacDonald and Danielle Johnston.

MARY L. AUGULIARO

Services for Mary Louise Auguliaro, 84, of Farmington Hills, were held June 4 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Farmington.

Mrs. Auguliaro was born May 2, 1918 in Detroit and died May 31, 2002 in Farmington Hills.

She is survived by her daughters, Julie (Gary) Barney, Diane (Allan) Serresseque and Anne Maranowski; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

FRANCES C. NOREN

Services for Frances C. Noren, 91, of Farmington Hills, were held June 3 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Chapel in Southfield with the Rev. Gerald McEnhill officiating

Mrs. Noren was born May 27, 1911 in Gilbert, Minn. and died May 31, 2002 at Charter House of Farmington Hills. She worked at Burroughs Corp. as a human resources assistant.

She is survived by her nephew, James Dowling; and stepson, Alvin (Kay) Noren. She is preceded in death by her husband Iver.

PAULINE M. MACKLER

Services for Pauline M. Mackler, 75, of Farmington, were held June 5 at St. Priscilla Catholic Church in Livonia with the Rev. Gary Buchon officiating. Burial took place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

Mrs. Mackler was born May 24, 1927 in Detroit and died June 2, 2002 in Farmington. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Harold; sons, Paul (Joanne), Dan (Cynthia), Bernie (Monica) and Patrick (Suzanne); daughters, Maureen (Mike) Pilkington, Mary Agatha (Steven) Bogorad, Anne Marie Mackler (Ronald Johnson), Kathryn (Jim) Knighton and Jennifer (Rob) Sabo; sisters, Sister Mary Gerald Murphy, Sister Mary Lenore Murphy, Anna Mae McCulloch and Helen Klein; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

NANCY J. GOLEY

Services for Nancy Jane Goley, 59, of Novi, were held June 8 at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Dr. Edward Mattox officiating. Burial took place at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.

Mrs. Goley was born Sept. 26, 1942 in Hazel Park and died June 6, 2002 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. She worked as a real estate agent at ReMax Realty and was a graduate of Wayne State University. She was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church in Farmington Hills and enjoyed music and bowling. She taught piano and ceramics.

Mrs. Goley is survived by her husband, William; and mother, Golden "Ethella" Miller. She is preceded in death by her father, Floyd.

ROBERT L. PHILLIPS

A private family service was held for Robert L. Phillips, 81, of Farmington.

Mr. Phillips was born Aug. 17, 1920 in Detroit and died June 4, 2002 at Farmington Health Care Center. He worked as director of personnel for Cadillac Motor Car until his retirement in 1976 and was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Civilian Conservation Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Ina Vivian; sons, Gary (Susie), Christopher and Stephen; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Mr. Keenan was born Sept. 17, 1953 in Detroit and died June 5, 2002 in Detroit. He worked for the Veterans Hospital in Battle Creek.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Keenan; father, Joseph Keenan; brother, Joseph; sisters, Jeanne (Buddy) Kott, Julie (David Smythe) Keenan and Dorene (Michael) Pulgini; grandfather, Rudolph Anderson; and nieces, Sarah and Jennifer DeLaFlor and Alexandra and Samantha Puigini.

DOROTHY M. SUCHER

Services for Dorothy Mary Sucher, 83, of Lake City and Wixom, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 14 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Farmington with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. today, June 13, at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington.

Mrs. Sucher was born Dec. 19, 1918 in Detroit and died June 10, 2002 at Hospice Home in Farmington Hills. She was the co-owner and bookkeeper of Sucher Tool Manufacturing in Farmington Hills and was a former member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Lake City Women's Club. She enjoyed doing stained glass.

She is survived by her husband Frank; son, Donald (Audrey); daughters, Sylvia Dwire, Nancy Tranchids and Elaine Sucher; brother, Leonard (Glenda) Kosbe; sister, Marcella (William) Ziemba; and eight grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank. 

DR. RICHARD E. RUEL M.D.

Services for Dr. Richard Edward Ruel, 68, of Livonia, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at St. Aidan Catholic Church in Livonia with visitation 5-8 p.m. today, June 13 and 2-8 p.m. Friday at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington.

Dr. Ruel was born Feb. 13, 1934 in Lebanon, N.H. and died June 9, 2002. He was a physician of internal medicine and gastroenterology. He graduated from Dartmouth in 1956 and Harvard Medical School in 1959. He had private practices in Livonia, Farmington and Detroit and was affiliated various hospitals throughout the metro Detroit area. He served as assistant clinical professor in medicine and as a clinical instructor at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He was a member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, Michigan State Medical Society and Wayne County Society of Medicine. 

He is survived by his wife, Frances "Ann"; children, Suzanne Garcia, Barbara Ruel, Christine Carnovale, Catherine Alati, Richard Ruel Jr., Ellen Cairns and Michael Ruel; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his beloved English Springer Spaniel "Barney." He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph.

KEVIN S. CALLAHAN

Services for Kevin Sean Callahan, 43, will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 13, at Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel in Farmington.

Mr. Callahan died June 8, 2002. He is survived by his mother, Dorothyann; brother, Jerry; and sister, Tara.
