Dr. James I. Arcure
Dr. James I. Arcure, 82, of Rochester, died Nov. 20, 2002.
He practiced dentistry in Rochester from 1950-85 and was a past president of the Oakland County Dental Society. He was also a U.S. Navy pilot and flight instructor during World War II.
Dr. Arcure is survived by his wife, Priscilla; daughters, Patricia Lyon of Rochester and Angela Calice of Troy; and five grandchildren.
He and his wife maintained a retirement home in Central Lake, Mich.
Services were held Nov. 25.

Marion Carol Carlson
Marion Carol Carlson, 63, of Rochester, died Nov. 16, 2002.
A Rochester resident since 1976, she was a retired medical laboratory services salesperson.
She is survived by her sons, Steve, of Rochester, R. Scott and David; daughter, Bonnie; father, Carl VornDran; eight grandchildren and two sisters. 
Services were held Nov. 20.

Pauline Janowski
Pauline Janowski, 95, of Rochester Hills, died Nov. 16, 2002.
She is survived by her daughters, Janet Kuhfeldt of Auburn Hills and Yvonne Myers; son, Michael; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services were held Nov. 21. Burial was at Christian Memorial Cemetery.

Marie Linda Leko
Marie Linda Leko, 51, of Rochester Hills, died Nov. 14, 2002.
She was a 1969 graduate of Avondale High School and a member of St. Augustine Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, John; son, Jonathan; daughter, Mandy; parents Delmar Holiday of Shelby Township and Shirley Holiday of Rochester Hills; and three sisters. 
Services were held Nov. 18. Burial was at Mount Avon Cemetery.

Hilda Louise Mattson
Hilda Louise Mattson, 94, of Rochester Hills, died Nov. 15, 2002.
She is survived by her sons, Richard and Don; daughter, Karen D'Hondt; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 20. Burial was at Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Leota Irene Reed, 101, of Rochester Hills, died Nov. 12, 2002.
She is survived by her son, Eugene; daughter, Holly; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Sinne Sorensen
Sinne Sorensen, 102, of Rochester Hills, died Nov. 12, 2002.
A Rochester resident since 1980, she was a member of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church and the Danish Sisterhood.
She is survived by her sons, Norman of Rochester Hills and Lloyd; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
No public services were held.

Dr. Raymond Louis Tremblay
Dr. Raymond Louis Tremblay, 67, of Rochester Hills, died Nov. 12.
He practiced internal medicine in Rochester since 1967 and was on the staff of Crittenton Hospital, where he received the 2001 People Who Care Award. He was a member of the AMA, Oakland County Medical Society and Oakland University President's Club. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Dr. Tremblay is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters, Kathryn Marie Tremblay and Jennifer Lynn Trembla; son, Paul Raymond Tremblay of Shelby Township; six grandchildren; two brothers and a sister.
Services were held Nov. 16. Burial was at Mount Avon Cemetery.

Mary G. Eagling, 80, of Rochester Hills, died Nov. 19, 2002.
Mrs. Eagling is survived by daughter, Beverly Ohngren; a brother, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Helen (Olson) Feira, 89, of Lake Orion, formerly of Rochester, died Nov. 20, 2002.
Mrs. Feira is survived by daughters, Mary Finch, Jane Saarela of Rochester Hills and Kathy Dyer ; son, William Ypsilantis; a brother, 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Nov. 29 at Potere-Modetz Funeral Home.

Neil Ballard Hartwig
Neil Ballard Hartwig, 79, of Rochester Hills, died Nov. 23, 2002.
Mr. Hartwig was the owner of the Max A. Hartwig Real Estate Co.
He served as president of the Board of Realtors, was a member of the Rotary Club and St. Andrew Catholic Church.
Mr. Hartwig is survived by his wife, Mary; and daughter, Jennifer.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 27 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Rochester. 
Interment was at Mount Avon Cemetery.

Joan Lucille Myatt
Joan Lucille Myatt, 72, of Troy, died Dec. 4, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, William; daughters, Carol Candela of Rochester Hills; Lana Szymaszek, and Joan Murphy; son, Bill Myatt; a brother and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 7, at Potere-Modetz Funeral Home.

Nicholas Patrick Kelly
Nicholas Patrick Kelly, 89, of Waterford, formerly of Rochester Hills, died Dec. 4, 2002.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth P. Kelly; daughters, Margaret A. Huggard, Maureen Rieden and Karen J. Rhoa; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, Dec. 7, at the St. John Fisher Chapel University Parish.
Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, Rochester.

Clara Frances Reid
Clara Reid, 102, of Rochester Hills, formerly of Bloomfield Hills, died Dec. 6, 2002.
Mrs. Reid graduated from normal school in her native Canada. She was a teacher in the Riverside-Albert Consolidated Schools in Albert, N.B. before moving to the U.S. in 1926. She was a member of Eastern Star; the Naples Florida Womens Club and Ohio State University Women's Club.
She is survived by her son, Glenn of Bloomfield Hills; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements were handled by The Wm. R. Hamilton Co., Birmingham.

KIETHA M. (KAY) CARLSON
Kietha M. (Kay) Carlson, 77, of Lake Orion, formerly of Ferndale died April 14, 2002.
She is survived by daughter, Sue Martin of Rochester Hills; son, Ray Carlson; mother, Leota Reed; brother, Eugene Reed; and one grandchild.
Mrs. Carlson loved to travel and was an avid baker.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., today (April 18) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 715 N. Lapeer Road, Lake Orion.
Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
Memorial tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society.

ELEANOR MILLER
Eleanor Miller, 87, of Orion Township, formerly of Rochester Hills, died April 29, 2002.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
At Ms. Miller's request, there will be no public services.
Internment was at Millington Cemetery, Tuscola, Mich. Arrangements were handled by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home.

VIVIAN A. CARTER
Vivian A. Carter, 58, of Rochester Hills, formerly of Warren, died April 28, 2002.
She was employed by the Older Persons Commission and previously worked for Sunrise Assisted Living.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband, Richard; daughters, Elaine Errante of Lake Orion and U.S. Air Force Sgt. Sandra Overla; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 2.
Burial was at Mount Avon Cemetery, Rochester Hills.

W. JOSEPH DEATON
W. Joseph Deaton, 68, of Rochester Hills, died May 4, 2002.
He was a Rochester resident since 1935 and was a 1951 graduate of Rochester High School. Mr. Deaton was an Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Homer Wing Post No. 172, Stoney Creek Lodge No. 5 F&AM and a Shriner. He was also a former volunteer for the Rochester Fire Department.
Mr. Deaton is survived by his wife, Delores; sons, Ronald of Rochester Hills and William J. (Jody) of Rochester Hills; daughters, Deborah Lyssoitis of Oxford and Cheryl Finch; six grandchildren and a sister.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 8.
Burial was at Mount Avon Cemetery, Rochester Hills.

DANIEL CLAY DAVIS
Daniel Clay Davis, 86, of Pontiac, died May 21, 2002.
He was a veteran of World War II and retired from Fisher Body in 1974. Mr. Davis was a member of Columbia Avenue Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Aelene Drake of Rochester and Patricia Workman of Canton; son, Daniel Davis of Oxford; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25.
Burial was at Christian Memorial Cemetery, Rochester Hills.

STEVEN J.CROWDER
Steven J. Crowder, 14, of Lake Orion died suddenly June 24 after being struck by a car.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Sparks Griffin Funderal Home in Lake Orion with the Rev. Mike Harris officiating.
Steven was a member of the National Honor Society, member of the Lake Orion Marching Band, a competitive gymnast, a cross-country runner (never losing a race), an avid golfer, bicyclist and skateboarder. 
Steven is survived by his parents, David and Laura Crowder; sister Allison; grandparent Marianne Vennstrom; great-grandparent Selma Crowder; aunt Dr. Pamela Pappas and Mary (Eric) Gonda; uncle Kurt Vennstrom; cousins Laura, Eric, Dominique, Brian, Lisa and Dana; and best friend Matt Leczel. 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Steven J. Crowder Memorial Fund. The family will then redistribute the contributions to the Lake Orion Band Boosters and other charities. Naomi Lee Al-Katib
Naomi Lee Al-Katib, 51, of Oxford died Sept. 4, 2002.
She is survived by husband, Samir; daughters, Tonia and Amy; sisters, Jean Moore Ruth Suddeth and Berneada Seaman; brothers, Charles, William, Benny, and Dennis Sexton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 7, at Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, Rochester.
Interment was at Mt. Avon Cemetery, Rochester.

Mable Viola Atchison
Mable Viola Atchison, 82, of Rochester Hills, died Sept. 4, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, William; son, Michael; daughters, Judy Burt, Mary Leavy of Auburn Hills and Patty William of Lake Orion; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Daniel Edward Bolon, 82, of Rochester Hills, died Sept. 15, 2002.
He retired from Chrysler Corp. in 1988 as a designer.
Mr. Bolon is survived by his sons, Michael Bolon of Oxford and Richard Bolon of Troy; daughter, Judith Bolon; a sister, brother and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sept. 15.
Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

John Lawrence Truhan
John Lawrence Truhan, 70, of Shelby Township, formerly of Auburn Hills died Sept. 13, 2002.
He retired from LTV Steel after more than 40 years of service and was past governor of the Loyal Order of the Moose--Pontiac #182.
Mr. Truhan is survived by his daughters, Valerie Rehrman of Shelby Township and Janet Gray of Orion; and brother, Daniel Truhan of Howland, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002.
Burial was at Calvary Cemetery.

Betty Stieve
Betty Stieve, 76, of Oxford, died Sept. 15, 2002.
She is survived by son, Frank Stieve of Ortonville; brothers, Niilo Fastelin, and Ike Fastelin; and sisters, Inez Stieve and Lila Olson.

William Thomas Lewandowski, 54, of Lake Orion, formerly of Rochester, died Oct. 22, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Rossi Lewandowski; daughters, Teresa and Ashley Lewandowski; sons, Brandon and Ryan Lewandowski; and mother, Ruth Lewandowski.
Funeral Mass was held Friday, Oct. 25, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 2700 Waldon, Lake Orion.

Kenneth F. Wheeler
Kenneth F. Wheeler, 73, of Troy died Oct. 26, 2002. He was born March 11, 1929, in Pittsfield, Mass.
Mr. Wheeler retired from Bundy Tubing in 1994.
He loved cross country skiing, tennis, travelling and time spent with his family.
Mr. Wheeler is survived by sons, Keith of Lawrenceburg, Ind., Kurt of Gaylord and Scott of Angel Fire, NM; daughters, Beth Lawson of Waterford, and Katie Wilkop of Lake Orion; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Ada M. Jones
Ada M. Jones, 75, of Waterford, formerly of Rochester, died Nov. 3, 2002.
She received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Michigan and worked for several hospitals.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, William Frank Jones; sons, Dwight Jones of Oxford and Dennis Jones of Waterford; daughters, Yvonne Menear of Langley, B.C., Denise Jones of Sterling Heights; sister, Helen Patterson of Ocala, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Charles J. "Jim" Coons
Charles J. "Jim" Coons, 71, of Dryden, formerly of Rochester, died Nov. 2, 2002.
He retired from Michigan Bell Telephone in 1984.
Mr. Coons was a 1950 graduate of Rochester High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Michigan Bell Pioneers, Lapeers Elks Club and Stoney Creek Lodge #5 F&AM.
Mr. Coons is survived by his wife, Joy; sons, Chrys Coons, Dennis Coons and Richard Coons; sister, Peggy Wells; sister, Peggy Pigeon; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002.
Burial was at Mt. Avon Cemetery, Rochester.

Donald E. DeVoe
Donald E. DeVoe, 75, of Rochester died Nov. 1, 2002.
He was born in Indiana and moved to Owosso in 1939 where he graduated from Owosso High School. Previously, he taught school in Fowler, Colo. and Lincoln Jr. High. 
Mr. DeVoe was a member of the Kiwanis and St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He volunteered to held Baldwin Ave. Soup Kitchen and drive patients around for dialysis.
Mr. DeVoe is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Chad, Shane and Lance DeVoe; daughter, Nancy Treuter; sister, Mary Jo Courtright; seven grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 4.
Burial was at Christian Memorial Cemetery.

Norman H. Featherstone
Norman H. Featherstone, 81, of Auburn Hills, formerly of Oaks, N.D., died Nov. 7, 2002.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. and retired from General Motors Truck and Coach.
Mr. Featherstone is survived by his wife, Alice; sons, Randy of Alvarado, Texas and Rick of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Jeanne Murray of Naples, Fla.; two sisters; a brother; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002.

Gloria Jean Gilbert
Gloria Jean Gilbert, 61, of Rochester died Nov. 7, 2002.
She was a graduate of Pontiac St. Michael High School and a resident of Rochester since 1970.
Mrs. Gilbert worked tirelessly for the assistance league of S.E. Michigan and Crittenton Hospital's Annual Gourmet Gala. She was also a member of Great Oaks Country Club.
Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her husband, Dr. Michael D. Gilbert; daughter, Stephanie Gilbert of Chicago, Ill.; son, Michael Gilbert of Rochester; sister, Cathy Reiter; and brother, Jim Barnowski.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 11, 2002.
Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oscoda.
