Mrs. Florence M. Bowersox - Lakeland, Fla., Formerly of 1123 Hayes Park Ave.  Passed away Sunday, Jan 16, 1977 in Florida.  Mrs. Bowersox was born in 1897, in Branch County, Mich., daughter of Marion and Millie Ferguson and had been a resident of Lakeland for 5 years, previously living in Kalamazoo.  She and her husband had spent their winters in Florida for 20 years.  She attended the Lane Blvd. United Methodist Church.  Survivng are her husband, Foster; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ethel Armstong of Coldwater and Mrs. Sally Oshell of St. Petersburg, Fla.;  4 nephews.  She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ford and Smith Ferguson and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Yunt.  Memorial services will be held Thursday at 3 o’clock at the Langeland Chapel 622 S. Burdick, with Rev. Mr. Richard D. Wilson officiating.  Interment in Mt. Mrs. Mildred J. Bowersox  3307 Grand Prairie Rd.,  Passed away Monday evening, August 30, 1976.  Mrs. Bowersox was born June 13, 1898, in Oshtemo Township, the daughter of Marvin and Martha Tyson and was a lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area.  She was of the Methodist Faith.  On June 19, 1919, she was married to Ivan Bowersox, who survives.  Also surviving are one son and 2 daughters, Harold of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Allen (Marguerite) Briggs and Miss Gladys L. Bowersox, both of Kalamazoo;  one grandson, Donald Bowersox, with the U.S.M.C. at Panama Canal; 2 great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Donald Jr.; one brother, Maynard Tyson of Lawton; several nieces and nephews.  Memorial services will be held Thursday at 3 o’clock at the Langeland Chapel, 622 S. Burdick.  Rev. Mrs. Laura A. Bowker  11011 Greer, Richland  Age 86, passed away Friday morning at Borgess Hospital, where she had been a patient since Sept. 4 and after an illness of 2 years.  Mrs. Bowker was born in Ross Township and had been a resident of Richland all of her life.  Her husband, Nathan A. passed away August 19, 1966.  Surviving are 2 sons, Loyal of 5680 N. 37th St., Richland and Kenneth D. of 8876 East H. Ave. Kalamazoo, one sister, Mrs. Harry (Lib) Marshall of Fine Lake;  7 grandchildren;  14 great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at the Schlueter-Farley Funeral Home, Augusta, Monday at 1 p.m. Rev. Mrs. Kathleen F. Bowling  3059 Mt. Olivet Rd.  Passed away Tuesday morning, June 1, 1976.  Mrs. Bowling was born Oct 27, 1946, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Arlon and Bertha Sliter and had been a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo.  She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1964.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Sliter.  Surviving are her husband, William J.;  2 daughters and one son, Amy, Daniel and Stephanie; her father and step-mother, Arlon and Winifred Sliter, all of Kalamazoo; one brother and 2 sisters, Duane A. Sliter of Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Thomas (Judith) Vincent and Mrs. Donald (Jean) Peters, both of Kalamazoo;  several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.  Memorial services will be held Friday morning at 11 o’clock at the Langeland Chapel, 622 S. Mr. Carl J. Bowman  657 Worden, Comstock  Passed away Nov. 14, 1976, at Borgess Hospital.   Mr. Bowman was born April 13, 1939, in Kalamazoo.  He was the owner and operator of the Comstock Beer Service.  Surviving are his wife, Susan; one son, Christopher; his father, Carl H. Bowman;  2 sisters, Peggy and Karen Bowman;  2 brothers, Rand and Steven Bowman; his grandmother, Mrs. Maude Lockwood.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Truesdale Williamsburg Chapel, 445 W. Michigan, Rev. Wilbur Courter officiating.  Interment in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Fletcher H. Bowers  1701 Lay Blvd  Passed away Wednesday evening, May 18, 1977.  Mr. Bowers was born Nov. 17, 1902 in Sac City, Iowa, son of James and Belle Bowers and had been a resident of Kalamazoo for the past 50 years.  He had retired from the Farm Service Silo  Co., where he had been a shipping and receiving foreman and after his retirement had worked as a meat cutter for Anderson Frozen Food Locker.  Surviving are his wife, Margaret E.; son and daughter-in-law, Jay Dee and Brenda Sr. of Vicksburg;  daughter, Barbara Kay of Kalamazoo; 2 sons, Thomas of Kentucky and Richard of Portage;  5 grandchildren, Jay Jr., Ray, and Gay Ann Bowers of Kalamazoo, Brian and Robert Kirk of Vicksburg; one great-granddaughter; one sister and one brother, Mrs. Irene Reynells of  Kalamazoo, Jack Bowers of Parchment;  several nieces and nephews.  Memorial services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Langeland Chapel, 622 S. Burdick, with Rev. Mr. Herman Gruis of the Lakeland Reformed Church, officiating.  Interment, Mt. Mrs. Elizabeth M. Bowman  3421 Devonshire  Passed away Tuesday, Dec 14, 1971, at Bronson Hospital  Mrs. Bowman was born January 29, 1895, in Leonidas, the daughter of Nicolas and Mary Rockelein.  She was a member of St. Martins of Tours Episcopal Church,  Business and Professional Women, Ladies Library Association and Kalamazoo Garden Club.  She taught in the Kalamazoo Public Schools until her retirement and while teaching earned her Masters Degree from the University of Michigan.  Surviving are one daughter, Miss Barbara Bowman; 5 nieces and 2 nephews, Mrs. John Kelly, Kalamazoo,   Mrs. James Bokhart, Benton Harbor, Mrs. John Wickstrom, Bellevue, Mrs. Gordon Chase, Jennison, Mrs. Artemis Wiley, Schoolcraft, Fred Markley, Hastings, Joseph Rockelein, Leonidas.  Friends may call at the Truesdale Downtown Funderal Home.  Services will be held from St. Martins of Tours Episcopal Chrch 11 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Wayne H. Mr. George J. Bowman  5593 East S. Ave.  Vicksburg  Passed away Sunday, Jan 25, 1976.  Mr. Bowman was born Dec 28, 1929 in Chattanooga, Tenn. son of Joseph and Bessie Bowman and had been a resident here most of his life.  He was the former owner of Bowman Auto Body Shop and was a member of the National Rifle Assoc. and the Lakes Area Conservation Club.  Surviving are his wife, Caroline; 2 sons and 2 daughters, David of Charlotte, Daniel of Boston, N.Y., Mrs. Mary Williams of Charleston, W. Va. and Mrs. Janet Luchies of Kalamazoo; a foster son, David; one grandson, Craig Bowman; his mother, Mrs. Bessie Bowman of Kalamazoo; 2 brothers, Donald of Three Rivers and William of Parchment;  several nieces and nephews.  Memorial services will be held Wednesday morning at the Langeland Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., Rev. John Vander May, of Portage First Reformed church, officiating.  Interment in Central Portagte Cemetery. Mr. Sammie Earl Bownes  315 Reese Place  Age 23, passed away suddenly on June 10, 1971 in Ann Arbor, Mich.   Mr. Bownes was born May 26, 1948, in Brooksville, Miss., the son of Percy and Maggie Seward, and had been a resident of Kalamazoo for the past 4 years.  He was employed by the Upjohn Co. as a fireman engineer and was attending a basic fireman’s training course at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, at the the time of his death.  Mr. Bownes is survived by his wife, Bernadine; one brother, Eddie Will Bownes of kalamazoo; 5 sisters, Mrs. Mary Jane Stores, Mrs. Callie Louise Pamplin, Miss Bertha Lee Walker,  Miss Martha Jean Walker, Miss Hattie Jean Walker, all of Kalamazoo;  a grandmother, Mrs. Celly Bownes of East St. Louis; 4 aunts and six uncles.  Religious services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Emmanuel Chapel Church of God in Christ, Elder E.M. Mr. John G. Boyce  348 E. Michigan Ave.  Passed away Friday evening at Bronson Hospital.  He was born March 27, 1903 in South Bend, Indiana and had been a resident of this community for the past 2 years.  He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Robert Feltz of Mishawaka, Indiana;  several nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received at the Donovan Funeral Home after 6 p.m. this evening, where funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30.  Burial in Mt. Mr. Michael Boydston  9013 E. Michigan, Galesburg  Passed away suddenly Friday at his residence.  Mr. Boydston was born Nov. 10, 1939 in Plainwell, and was employed as a draftsman for the Pine Design Co.  He is survived by one daughter, Lorie Boydston of Gobles;  2 sons, Scott Boydston of Gobles and Michael Bodyston Jr. of Kalamazoo;  his mother, Mrs. Ernestine Nogle of Plainwell;  his father, Malcolm Boydston of Orick, Calif.; his grandmother, Mrs. William Hodge of Orick, Calif.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Patty Pinks of Plainwell and Mrs. Judy Boydston of Taft, Calif.;  4 brothers, Jack Boydston of Kingsley, Bruce Nogle of Plainwell, Pat and Don Boydston of Taft, Calif.; several nieces and nepheews.  Friends may call at the Marshall-Gren Chapel, Plainwell, where services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock, Pastor Richard Gilaspy officiating.  Interment in Hillside Cemetery.   source:  Kalamazoo Gazette  Mon 24 May 1976
