Mrs. Gemma Buist 1004 Stockbridge Ave. Passed away at Borgess Hospital.  Mrs. Buist was born March 5, 1898, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of Eugene and Emma Marchi, moving to Kalamazoo in 1926.  She was a member of St. Jospeh Church, Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Society.  On March 18, 1923, she was married to James A. Buist who survives.  Also surviving are 2 sons and 2 daughters, Robert, James R., Mrs. Walter (Jeanne) Heeter and Miss Patricia Buist, all of Kalamazoo; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Friends are being received at the Wagar & Clark Chapel, where relatives and friends will meet to recite the rosary this evening at 7:30 o'clock.  Mass of the Resurrection will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Rev. Mr. Duane P. Bullard - 9498 W. KL Ave. Passed away May 9, 1977.  Mr. Bullard was born April 18, 1926 in Kalamazoo.  He was employed as a machine operator for the Brown company.  Surviving him is his wife, Hazel; four daughters, Mrs. Gary (Diana) Sherburn of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Bill (Linda) Zuidema, Big Rapidds, Susan of Homer, Mich. and Nancy at home;  four grandchildren; two brothers, Hubert of Plainwell and Charles of Minneapolis, Minn.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery Chapel, Dr. Kenneth B. Seeley officiating.  Entombment followin in the mausoleum.  Friends may call at the Truesdales Williamsburg Chapel, 445 W. Michigan Ave., after 7 p.m. this evening. Mrs. Hope (Green) Bulla  529 Ada St. Passed away Wednesday morning, June 2, 1976.  Mrs. Bulla was born Dec 21, 1900 in Jonestown, Pa., daughter of Robert and Lucia Mather and had been a resident of the Almena and Kalamazoo area from 1936. She is survived by one niece, Mrs. Alice Cochran of East Helena, Mont. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters. Memorial services will be held Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the Langeland Chapel, 622 S. Burdick, with the Rev. Mr. Mabry Gardner, of the Galilee Baptist Church, officiating. Scott Anthony Buist  2221 Holly, Portage - Infant son of Lee and Kellie Buist, passed away January 11, 1972 at Children's Hospital, Ann Arbor.  Scott was born December 14, 1971.  Surviving besides the parents are 2 brothers, Jeffery Arthur and Michael Allen; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lorna Buist of Kalamazoo; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Garn of Nebraska.  Services will be held 9:30 a.m. Thursday Truesdale South Chapel Portage, Pastor Louis W. Mrs. Irene Bullock  5522 Lovers Lane, Portage - Passed away July 7, 1972 at Bronson Hospital.  Mrs. Bullock was born October 13, 1914 in Grand Haven, Michigan, daughter of Orrie and Jennie Boyink VanderMeiden and had been a resident here for the past 16 years.  Member of the Milwood United Methodist Church.  She was a graduate of the Grand Haven High School.  Surviving are: the husband, Lamar H.; two sons, Lamar E., Norfolk, Mass., Richard E., Hartford, Mich.; three granddaughters and two grandsons; three brothers and one sister, John, Orrie and Eugene VanderMeiden, Mrs. Harry Noordhof, all of Grand Haven; many nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Bullock will be at the Truesdale South Chapel, Portage where religious services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Rev. Mrs. Flora Jeanette (Nettie) Bump - Passed away Monday morning, March 28, 1977, at Bronson Hospital.  Mrs. Bump was born Dec. 18, 1892.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, Ladies Library Assoc., and Bronson Hospital Guild and a charter member of the 20th Century Club.  Her husband, Harry Bump, preceded her in death in 1952.  Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. R. Bryce (Melva) Edwards of Venice, Fla.; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W. R. Thomson of Stanton, Mich.  Friends may call at the Truesdale Williamsburg Chapel, 445 W. Miss Olive Nancy Bunce - 2552 Tipperary Rd.- Passed away Sept. 4, 1972, at Bronson Hospital.  Miss Bunce was born Feb. 28, 1901, in Goodrich, Mich., daughter of William H. and Mary E. Bunch and had been a resident of Kalamazoo since 1930, where she was a school nurse until her retirement in 1965. She attended Flint Public Schools and received her certificate in Physical Education from Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, in 1922.  She graduated from Hurley Hospital School of Nursing in 1930. Member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Retired Teachers Association and Hurley Hospital Nursing Association. Surviving are 2 sisters, Mrs. Grace Olson and Miss Mildred Bunce, Flint; several nieces and nephews; her companion, with whom she lived for many years, Miss Margaret Bush, Kalamazoo.  Miss Buncee will be at the Truesdale Downtown Funeral Home until 2 p.m. Tuesday, to be taken to St. John's Chapel, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, for services at 4 p.m., Rev. James C. Mrs. Carol J. Burch, 5120 Deep Point Dr. Passed away Wednesday morning, June 9, 1976. Mrs. Burch was born July 30, 1927, in South Haven, daughter of George and Vera Padgett and had been a resident here most of her life.  She had formerly been employed by the Brown Co. and was a member of the Bethlehem Assembly of God. Surviving are her husband, Duane; one son and one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Baird of Kalamazoo and George Walker of Aurora, Colo.; one step-son, Murry Walker of Winslow, Ariz.; 9 grandchildren; 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Mrs. Beverly Rodgers, Kalamazoo, Richard Padgett of Plainwell, Robert Padgett Sr. of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Patricia Stinett and Mrs. Sandra Gonzales, both of Hartford; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, James. Memorial services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the Bethlehem Assembly of God, 7835 Lovers Lane, with Rev. Mr. Thomas G. Skoog officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.  Friends may meet the family at the Langeland Portage Chapel, 411 E. Mr. Jasper Bunschoten - Rte 1 Vicksburg - Passed away Friday evening. Mr. Bunschoten was born March 27, 1893 in the Netherlands, the son of Jasper and Nellie Bunschoten and had resided in this country for the past 63 years. He was a retired painter and decorator and farmer. He was married to Gertrude (Botma) who preceded him in death in 1970.  A son Henry also preceded him in death in 1968. Surviving are:  2 sons, Jasper Jr. (Jim) of Vicksburg, George of Portage; 4 daughters, Mrs. Richard (Sebertha) Decker of Three Rivers, Mrs. Art (Nellie) Yahr of Portage, Mrs. Harry (Gertrude) Cornell of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Ronald (Florence) Hayward of Vicksburg; one half brother, George Vose of Coral Gables, Fla.; a step brother, Peter Voss of Kalamazoo; 2 half sisters, Mrs. Dale (Grace) Merlau of Kalamazoo and Mrs. John (Nellie) Freelink of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla;  12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  Friends may call at the Rupert-Durham Funeral Home where the family will receive fri!

Mrs. Edith A. Burch - 326 Clay St., Schoolcraft - Passed away Thursday evening April 28, 1977. Mrs. Burch was born March 17, 1924 in Galesburg, Michigan the daughter of Earl and Violet McClary and was a resident of Schoolcraft for the past 30 years.  She had been employed by Arco Industries.  Surviving are one son Kenneth W. Burch of Texas; 3 sisters, Mrs. A. R.  (Jean V.) Boyer, Mrs. Elden (Betty A.) Freeman, both of Portage and Mrs. Jack (Patricia A.) Fitzgerald of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Monday at 2 o'clock at the Langeland Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre with the Rev. Mr. Charles Hulbert of the Bethlehem Baptist Church officiating. Miss Mary Ellen Burdiak  7409 Angling Rd., Portage - Passed away April 27, 1976, at Bronson Hospital.  Miss Burdiak was born January 28, 1959, in Miami, Fla., the daughter of John F. and Barbara R. (Bendkowski) Burdiak.  She was a Junior at Portage Central High School and a member of St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church.  Surviving besides her parents are one brother and one sister, John R. and Cheryl, both at home; paternal grandfather, John Burdiak of Chicago, Ill. and maternal grandfather, Robert L. Bendkowski of Key Largo, Fla.;  many aunts and uncles.  Mass of the Resurrection will  be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church, with Rev. Miss Mary L. Burns - Coral Ridge Towers, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (Formerly of Kalamazoo and Detroit)  Passed away Friday  evening at Holy Cross Hospital.  She was born August 22, 1902 in Kalamazoo, daughter of Michael and Anna Burns.  She was a graduate of Western Michigan University and formerly taught in the Detroit School system, retiring in 1958.  She is survived by:  one brother, Michael Ray Burns, Pompano Beach, Fla.;  several nieces and nephews.  Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Donovan Funeral Home.   source:  Kalamazoo Gazette Sun 18 April 1971
