Mr. Floyd M. Bridenstein  102 N. Wilson St., Vicksburg  Passed away Saturday morning, Mr. Bridenstein was born November 16, 1888 in Wakeshma Twp., the son of John and Ellen Young Bridenstein and had been a lifelong resident of the area.  He was a retired garage owner and mechanic and a life member of Wakeshma Lodge No. 254 F & AM.  He is survived by: his wife, Pearl; one daughter, Mrs. Burdette (Thelma) Hollenbeck of Vicksburg;  one sister, Mrs. Howard (Lila) DeBest of Mendon; two grandchildren,  Gary and Jan Hollenbeck and three great-granddaughters, Jodie, Jill and Jane.  Friends may call at the Rupert-Durham Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 and where Masonic memorial services will be held this evening at 8 o’clock and where services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Mr. Allen Briggs  713 Gibson St.,  Passed away at Borgess Hospital Sunday afternoon after a 2 year illness.  Mr. Briggs was born May 16, 1894, in Ingham County, the son of David and Anna Reaves Briggs and had been a resident here for 12 years.  He was employed at the A.M. Todd Co. and later was manager of a parking lot on Water St.  On Feb 4, 1961, he was married to Cora Nouggle, who survives.  Also surviving are 2 sons, David and Ellis Briggs;  a niece, Mrs. Kathleen Yeoman; 5 step-children, Francis Beck,  Ben Darnell, Edith Anderson, Egbert  Darnell and Ludwell Nouggle, all of Kalamazoo;  several grandchildren;  step-grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.  Friends are being received at the Wagar & Clark Chapel, where funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o’clock, Rev. Mr. Charles C. Brigance  1216 Washington Ave.  Passed away at his home suddenly Friday.  Mr. Brigance was born Oct 30, 1904 in Tyler, Missouri, the son of Charles & May (Pullen) Brigance and had been a resident of Kalamazoo since 1937.  He was retired from the Sutherland Paper Co. and a member of The Sourthern Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife, Edna Mae Brigance;  4 sons; Charles E. of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.,  Ralph L. of Galesburg,  Melvin of Vicksburg and Norman L. of Kalamazoo;  5 brothers, Ralph, Merrill, Lawrence, Willliam and Ernie, all of Kalamazoo;  2 sisters;  Mrs. Eva Lou Hoskins of Steele, Missouri.  Mrs. Margaret Hamilton of Kalamazoo;  8 grandchildren;  several nieces & nephews.  Friends are being received at the Wagar & Clark Chapel where services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 p.m., Rev. Mrs. Laura Briggs  722 Lane Blvd  Passed away Saturday evening at the Alamo Nursing Home.  Mrs. Briggs was born Sept 12, 1882, in Hartford, Mich, the daughter of Ferdinand and Matilda Unrath and had been a resident of Kalamazoo most of her life.  In March of 1908, she married Robert Briggs, who passed away Feb 19, 1953.  She was a charter member of the Stockbridge Methodist Church, Friendly Bible Class and Dorcas Circle and a life member of Corinthian Chapter No. 123 OES.  Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Helen Feller of Terre Haute, Ind.;  3 grandsons; one grand-daughter; 5 great-grandchildren.  Friends are being received at the Wagar & Clark Chapel, where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m., Rev. Mr. Walter L. Briney  7821 Julie Dr., Portage  Passed away August 2, 1983.   Mr. Briney was born June 14, 1907 in Berrien County, Mich., and had been a Portage resident for 22 years.  On March 28, 1931, he was married to Coral I. Rogers, who survives.  Also surviving are 2 daughters and one son, Mrs. Phillip L. (Coral Lee) Mason of Albion, Mich.  Mrs. Harold R. (Margaret Jean) Paquin of Kalamazoo, Dr. Walter G. Briney of Denver, Colo;  9 grandchildren;  2 brothers and one sister,   Leonard E. Briney, Mrs. James (Hazel) Bizanes, both of St. Joseph, Mi.,  Harry E. Briney of Stevensville, Mi.;  several nieces an nephews.  Mr. Briney was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Pilgrim Club, former member of the Board of Deacons and the Board of Ushers.  He was also a member of Local 898 Carpenters Union in Berrien County for 10 years, a member of the Local, State and National Education Associations, Modern Woodmen of America, Kalamazoo County Genealogical Society and the Ridge, Colorado State and national ARC.  He was a school teacher for 46 years and superintendent and high school prinicipal and coach at the Bridgeman High School for 27 years and later taughter in the Portage Public School System for 10 years.  Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Langeland Portage Chapel, 411 E. Mrs. Ila Brignall Dies in Florida - Formerly of Kalamazoo and now of Eustis, Fla., died this week in Eustis after a lingering illness.  Mrs. Brignall and her husband Harold H., are former Kalamazoo residents.  Until their retirement several years ago, they operated Kalamazoo Catering and Vending, Inc.  She was secretary-treasurer of that company.  Mrs. Brignall, a native of Kalamazoo, has been active in many local organizations.  She is a past president of Quota club, a past Quota district officer, a past president of Daughters of the Nile, and a member of Parliamentary Club, 20th Century Club, Women’s Symphony Association, X-Ette Club, and Goodwill Auxiliary.  Private funeral services were held Thursday in Eustis.  Cremation followed.  Mrs. Brignall has one sister, Mrs. Ilda Richards, who resides in Kalamazoo.  source:  Kalamazoo Gazette  Fri 25 Jun 1976

Mrs. Janette Brink  609 S. Park St.  Passed away Monday morning, January 19, 1976.  Mrs. Brink was born September 6, 1890 in Kalamazoo, daughter of Cornelius and Jennie VandenBerg and had been a resident here for 15 years.  She was a member of the Third Christian Reformed Church.  Her husband, Herbert, passed away in 1945.  Surviving are:  two sons Robert E., Rochester, N.Y. and Stanley J. of Cape Elizabeth, Maine;  six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren;  two sisters, Mrs. Peter (Ann) Kreling of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Raymond (Wilma) Wenke of Holland; several nieces and nephews.  Memorial services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at the Langeland Chapel, 622 S. Burdick, Rev. William D. Buursma officiating.  Interment, Riverside Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Third Christian Reformed Church or Senior Citizens Fund. Mrs. Mary A. Brinkman  Formerly of Vicksburg, Michigan.  Passed away Monday evening at Mease Hospital, Clearwater, Florida.  Surviving are her husband Ernest, three sons, Robert of Detroit, Richard of Kalamazoo and Ramon of Grosse Pointe Park.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 13 at 10:30 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clearwater, Florida.  Memorial service Friday, October 15, 2 p.m. at University Presbyterian Church, Rochester, Michigan.  Burial in White Chapel Cemetery, Rochester, Michigan.  source:  Kalamazoo Gazette  Tues 12 Oct 1971

Mr. Virgil A. (Pat) Britton  2132 Hazel Avenue  Passed away Saturday morning February 12, 1972.  Mr. Britton was born Septeber, 22, 1909 in Benton, Illinois, son Ambrose and Herriet Britton and had been a resident of Kalamazoo for 45 years. He was a pressman, employed by the Brown Company for the past 40 years; and was a member of the Oakwood Bible Church.  Surviving is his wife, Theresa; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Beatrice) Meech of Quincy, Illinois;  three grandsons, Jeffrey T., Scott A. and James A. Meech;  two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Richard (Vernie) Kirleis and Mrs. James (Blanch) Willis and Ed Britton; a helf-brother, Omer Hattchet, all of Benton, Illinois;  several nieces and nephews.  Memorial services will be held Monday afternon at 1 o’clock from the Langeland Chapel, 622 S. Burdick, Rev. Russell G. Miss Marguerite Brockie  1113 Lay Blvd  Passed away June 17, 1977 at Bronson Hospital.  Miss Brockie was born Jan 22, 1895, in Kalamazoo, and was a life resident here.  Member of First United Methodist Church, graduate of Kalamazoo College, member of the Retired Teachers Assoc.  Taught many years in the Kalamazoo Public Schools. Surviving are her nephew, William Brockie and his family of Portage. Friends may call at the Truesdale Williamsburg Chapel, 445 W. Cheri Ann Brindley  639 Osterhout St., Schoolcraft  Passed away Wednesday morning at Bronson Hospital.  Cheri was born in Kalamazoo, August 28, 1967, daughter of David and Roxie Beatty Brindley and lived in Schoolcraft all of her life.  She was a student at Schoolcraft Elementary School.  Surviving besides the parents are one sister, Candy;  maternal grandparents,  Mr. and Mrs. Barry Beatty of Rte 2, Schoolcraft;  paternal grandparents,  Mr. and Mrs. David Brindley Sr. of Rte 1, Mattawan;  great-grandfather, Lester Williams of Rte 2, Schoolcraft;  great-grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. John Farrer of Comstock;  great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Millis Fairchild of Kalamazoo; great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Allyene Brindley of Allegan;  several aunts, uncles and cousins.  Friends may call at the Robertson Funeral Home, Schoolcraft, after 7 p.m., Thursday, where the family will meet with friends between 7 and 9 Thursday and between 2 and 4 and 7 and 9 Friday, and where services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m.  Interment in Schoolcraft Cemetery.  The family requests that friends who wish, may make memorials to the Michigan Lung Assoc., which may be left at the funeral home.  source:  Kalamazoo Gazette  Wed 3 Nov 1976

Edward A. Brisbane  Union City, Mi.  Formerly of Kalamazoo Age 94  Passed away Sat. in Coldwater, Mi. He was a resident of Kalamazoo from 1920-1971.  He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.  Survived by two daughters, Miss Gertrude Brisbane and Miss Grace Brisbane;  2 sons, William and Edward Brisbane.  Services were held today in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.  Interment at Mt. Mrs. Elizabeth Anna Brockway  Texas Township,  Rte 2, Schoolcraft  Passed away Friday at her home.  Mrs. Brockway was born in Paw Paw February 4, 1906.  Surviving are her husband, Deloss;  nine children, Mrs. Elizabeth Born of Augusta,  Mrs. Ruby Willett in Vietnam,  Marvin Brockway of Three Rivers,  Alvin Brockway of Kalamazoo,  Mrs. Delores Eisenhauer of Cooperville,  Miss Joan Brockway at home, Myron Brockway of Marcellus,  Mrs. Rita Mitchell of East Leroy and Forest Brockway of Marcellus;  16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren;  one brother, Fred Schallhorn, Paw Paw.  Friends may call at the Hawley Funeral Home, Paw Paw, where services will be held Monday at 2, Rev. (Wilson) Brockway  5850 East H Ave., Kalamazoo  Passed away Sunday evening.  Mrs. Brockway was born May 9, 1894, in Kalamazoo, and was a lifelong resident of this community.  For many years, she was a secretary with D. Graff & Sons and was currently employed with the Kalamazoo Insurance Agency. She was also affiliated with Christ Baptist Church.  Surviving are 2 sisters, Miss Maxine Wilson and Edith Canvin, both of Kalamazoo;  one niece, one nephew; one grandniece and one grand nephew and cousins. Friends may call at the Donovan Funeral Home, 44y W.
